1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you have any "doll friends?"

Jun 19, 2011

    1. I have several doll friends. Usually we meet once in a month, to talk, take pictures, have some fun. Depending on the weather, we visit different places. :)

    2. I'm part of a club in NZ that is all about BJDs >w< a friend let me into the club and I've made many more doll friends since then >w<

    3. I used to have one friend that I introduced to the hobby.
We were friends since high school, until recently. Which kinda blows.
Not having a friend involved in the hobby with you kinda makes things a little lack luster sometimes.
Having BJD friends brings out the excitement more. You have someone to talk to, someone to take pics with and share interesting BJD facts or events you didn't know about.
But the falling out happened for a reason (I just wish it happened later so I could've gotten a doll before we stopped talking, like I gave her. Lol.), and I hope to one day get more BJD friends.

    4. I met my doll friends in college. One was already an active member of our local doll community, and one wanted to get a doll, but hadn't adopted one yet at the time. Now I have a lovely bunch of doll friends in our local community. :aheartbea

    5. Ugh I had like the same situation, used to be close friends with someone since high school, recently had a huge falling out that will never repair, but was needed. Except she never had a doll and I did (but we both enjoyed the hobby itself). But even so I would have liked to share that hobby with that person. It's a lot more fun having someone close to relate to with this kind of thing!

It's too bad you're in FL, I'd offer to chill with some dolls since we're like the same age! Although I guess I'm not all that far OTL. Hopefully you find someone new to share it with!

    6. Yeah, I think mine needed to happen too. I mean, I've thought about maybe trying to talk to her again, but I feel the same thing might happen again. And in the end I honestly felt like she did a lot of things in a short amount of time a "best friend" wouldn't do. Or at least I wouldn't do to her.

But yeah, totes lame we don't live close enough. Lol. But nothing wrong with online friends. :)
Message me anytime, and I hope you can find some friends involved in the hobby too.

    7. -.-sadly no...I don't even have friends on here.@[email protected]'m a friendly person...I don't bite....much....fufufufufufu X3

    8. my doll friend are mostly from the doll forum or from another friend who introduced others to me
Not my Flatmate,my mom and my sis because they all afriad of BJD
:(BJD are cute,i have no idea why they afraid of them....T T

    9. i know i posted about this before,
but it seems like half the people in this thread have BJD BFFs,and the other half don't really have any at all, even online?

would it be against DoA rules to start some kind of "online BJD friends/penpals" personals thread? there are too many different people in this hobby for everyone to get along, but everyone gets lonely and every hobby is 2x the fun when you can share it with others.

    10. I was too wondering the same thing.
I know I've seen penpal threads before, but I don't remember where (and I also think it was for BJDs meeting other BJDs? o_O).

    11. there is a penpal thread in the 'games' section and i believe it is BJD roleplay thread, not a real penpals thread.

i was more thinking you could provide the following (optional) information in such a thread, and then if someone thinks you sound interesting they could PM you...

stuff like your age range ("range" to avoid too much discrimination), country/languages you speak, occupation, "non BJD" hobbies, and then a couple BJD related things like why you'd like a penpal/online chat friend, what dolls you have (or want), and then you could also add in your preferred communication method (example, PMs, email, Skype) as well as links to any personal sites you'd want to share (since people can tell a lot about a person by looking at their pic gallery or reading their blog)

we all have a common interest - BJDs - and many of us would like to have closer friends in the hobby. i've made a few good friends online already, and i have good acquaintances IRL, but i am always wanting to meet new people and i love writing/chatting so it would be entertaining. plus, there are some people who are so lonely online - it must be very hard to be lonely even when you find a forum as dedicated to your hobby as this.

edit: forgot to add, regarding my "there are too many people for everyone to get along" comment - it would also be helpful if you stated your religious and political beliefs to that people can avoid talking about those if they're not compatible? example: i get along well with a girl who is Christian and collects BJDs, but i'm an atheist so i refuse to discuss religion with her in order to avoid a fight or upsetting her. One of my best online friends when i was younger was also a Scientologist and i avoided the subject for the same reason.... so it's good to list the "catches" as well. This is not meant to flame religious people ofc, just to show that it's one aspect where people can be in/compatible.

    12. I have friends in real life that I talk to about the hobby, but no one enjoys it like I do, which makes me feel like an outcast. I get so excited about doll things, and they're so nonchalant and careless when I mention them. I only have one friend who wants to buy one, but she only likes animal/anthro dolls, which I too love, but I really wish I had someone to really share my love for all dolls with. Meetups would probably be a good choice, but I live in middle Georgia and I doubt anyone else lives close. :(

    13. I have the friend that recruited me into the hobby :) Other than that, no, but I would very much like to, it's part of the reason I hang around here, I'm just too shy to actually make contact with people...
So I think the penpal idea is great, it would certainly help me at least :)

    14. I know a few people who live far away, but not anyone locally yet!

    15. One of my good friends in RL got into dolls after I kept blabbing about mine. She's now a member of this forum saving up for her second doll.

I also have several friends who I know only through dolls.

    16. I share the Hobby with my daughter. We also belong to a BJD group where we meet twice a month.

    17. I am really envious of the mother/daughter ABJD collectors. It is the sweetest thing, and I would love for my mother to share a hobby like this with me.

    18. I think that would be cool, and fun. And a lot of people might be interested in it.

    19. i would happily design the template properly and start the thread as long as 1) DoA mods approve 2) someone can tell me the appropriate forum it would go in?

      input anyone?

    20. Maybe you can ask a mod? o Ao
