1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you have any "doll friends?"

Jun 19, 2011

    1. no but I'd love to meet some soon ^^

EDIT: I do have one friend in real life who also likes and collects BJDs ( @Alucard521 ). There is another friend of ours that likes seeing and hearing about the dolls but she is not interested enough to get her own doll.
And of course there are people that I talk to here and on Flickr, YouTube, ect
I would really love to meet some more BJD people in person though.

    2. My mother loves dolls and collects, she doesn't play with them like I do. and she does not own BJD's, but she "gets it"

    3. Yes and, not to brag, but she is the most amazing doll friend I could ever dream to ask for! She was actually the one who got me into bjds to begin with, and she always seems to know the answer to my doll questions. I'm really lucky to have her as my friend and fellow doll enthusiast.

    4. My best friend is just as much of a BJD lover as I am. We started becoming interested in them at the same time back in high school and we actually got our first dolls together. We ordered our second dolls together as well and got twin brothers. I love having such a good friend into the BJD hobby along with me. We are both currently waiting on new dolls we just ordered! :D

    5. My best friend had one. I liked them before we had meet, but her having one made me want one even more! I hope when I get mine we can have doll tea parties and do other fun stuffs :D

    6. None in real life. Not one of my friends are interested in my doll hobby and I haven't met anyone who likes bjd's irl. I do have some doll friends online.

    7. Yes, I have a couple of friends who are into BJD, and it's through them I also got started - I actually bought my first (and yet only...) doll from my dollie friend nr. 1, a Domadoll Goni. She, whom I bought it from, got a couple of dolls and to look at them IRL is just a blast. o_o

    8. Not really. I'm still new and my dolls haven't made it home yet, so there really hasn't been much opportunity for me to make friends in the hobby.

That said, my MIL thinks it's cool and is making me furniture for my dollies for Christmas. ^_^ She's a seamstress and she used to make doll clothes along with her mother, so I do have support on her end of things. She is always asking to see my photo shoots and wants to know more about my dolls, so I guess in some way she is my only dolly friend.

    9. I have doll acquaintances mostly and we talk through FB and see each other at conventions, but unfortunately I feel pretty left out in the doll world and my state's doll group. Like I don't connect well with them. Anyone else feel like they don't connect well?

    10. Sadly, no. I do have one friend who is interested in dolls but he doesn't own one yet. The majority of my friends are willing to talk about dolls but wouldn't start a conversation about them or bring them up on their own.

    11. I have a close friend who is really into BJDs. She often brings her dolls to my house when she comes to stay over night. At first I thought dolls are creepy and scary, as I have always been afraid of human-shaped dolls. But once I got used to her boys, I became more and more comfortable with seeing dolls (though now some specific sculpt/body and blank dolls still scares the hell out of me). Then I got an idea of making a doll to represent my FFXIV character. So I'm now an owner of 2 BJDs.

    12. My best friend and I do almost everything together, including the BJD hobby! ^_^ I originally got bitten by the pullip bug, and dragged her into that, then we both fell in love with BJDs. She was going to get one a while before we actually got our first ones, so that was when I really started looking for one to get! That fell through though and then we ended up ordering out firsts within a day of each other! It's really awesome! :)

    13. Most of my doll friends are online now (my sister doesn't count, haha) since local friends have been way to busy to hang out or anything. :(

      Hopefully, once I'm done with school and move somewhere more permanently, there will be more dolly people where I go! I really would love someone nearby and to be able to gush about dolly stuff with and take pictures of their dolls as well. ;o;

    14. I have a few friends who do enjoy them, but don't actually own any. Otherwise, I don't have any doll friends. It's kind of a bummer.

    15. I have internet doll friends but no in person ones. There are BJD people around because I hear about the meet-ups but I would probably feel weird if I were older than everyone else...lol..so I am too chicken to go.

    16. I have friends who think BJD's are cool, but none that actually own one :( So no, I do not have any BJD friends :...(

    17. One of my doll-friends was the culprit of having me inside this hobby and she is the step-mother of my Rise ^^
Then there is also the group of DD owners who always meet in conventions ^^

    18. I have one dolly friend locally. We found each other by accident on another forum. She didn't know anyone locally either. She's been in the hobby longer than I have so she is a fount of knowledge for me.

I've told some of my other friends about getting a BJD and they just think of it as an extension to my love of sewing. They don't think I'm nuts. :)

    19. I have a few "doll friends," which I consider to be friends I've made through our shared interest in dolls. What amuses me more than that is discovering that friends I made from other interests also own dolls; this keeps happening more and more frequently. It's always nice to have someone to share your enthusiasm in your hobbies with~! ♥

    20. My best friend also likes dolls. I also have a few who would like one if they had the money.
