1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you have any "doll friends?"

Jun 19, 2011

    1. I don't have any friends that are into BJD's. My friends are okay with the hobby, but they both think its kind of stupid...so needless to say when my doll comes in they don't want anything to do with it. To be honest they don't even want to see him :( but oh well. Its whatever. I'm sure I'll make new friends in the BJD hobby. :)

    2. No!
I have some friends who like certain types of dolls, but they are not into BJDs. Even the few who actually like them don't think it is worth spending the money necessary to have one.
And these friends don't usually collect many dolls either, they usually keep only two or three of the types they do like.
I've never had friends who are into BJDs.

    3. I have some friends who have dolls, but I'm really the only one who is completely into them, I think. I'm in the process of trying to get more. I've been trying to get to meet-ups and make penpals and stuff.

    4. Yes, I have met a few great people who became my friends, first online, then in real life. We were lucky to meet a few times and I am trying to keep the tradition alive. I even went to another country and had a doll meetup there.

    5. Yes, I have doll friends both online and in real life. :)

    6. real life, no. internet, yes indeed ^_^

    7. Not super close friends but I have met a lot of nice people on here... Definitely no IRL doll friends. :sweatI'm not sure what to think of going to a meet-up. (I've heard mixed things.)
One of my internet friends thinks they're creepy and thinks I should spend my money on other things like an Xbox (that I would never play) or video games (that I don't play too often anymore).
My other friend... she thinks they're neat to look at but they aren't something she's interested in owning.

    8. I came to know BJD from my best friend, and she loves BJD a lot. Now I am going to learn more about BJD. Actually it wastes money, but sometimes it is quite rewarding to spend some money on what you love.

    9. I know many people in hobby, but friends... No, I do not have...
Maybe friendship is something different for me than for other people, but I decided for myself that I'll never look for friends only with the same interests... This is not a real friendship, just a communication... I do not need it.
Although some people have found real friends thanks to hobbies, and I'm happy for them. :)

    10. Nope no doll friends, but really wish I had. Some of the people I work with ask me about my doll cos they see her on face book and think she is pretty - but thats it. My boyfriend does listen and tries to sound interested, but I think he is sick of hearing about it. My family avoid talking about my dolls at all costs and my friends like to change the subject and pretend dolls don't exist. which is one of the reasons I came here :)

    11. Yes! I have one friend who also has dolls, and she's the reason I got into the hobby! Then I have a couple others who are very interested and intend to get their own dolls someday. Other than that, I know various people online. =w=

    12. I have quite a lot of doll acquaintances in this hobby... unfortunately many are too busy to hang out or whatever... But my hubby just joined so he's really my only dolly friend, and for that matter really my only best friend. :sweat Pretty much ever since he and I got together quite a few of my friends have moved to other cities and states and gotten married and have kids etc... So he's really the only person around. There are a few dolly peeps around that I can text and say hello to but unfortunately I can't just show up to their houses, since many live like an hour or so away from me.

    13. I have an online friend that is a doll collector but she's not into BJDs. I don't personally know anyone that is, unfortunately.

    14. I have 2:one that bought a Little Monica Kliff and we actually both saved for our first dolls together and the other doesn't plan on buying one but is simply interested in the hobby. They are both from my high school years too.

    15. My two best friends are my dolly friends! We make stuff for our dolls all the time. I have some other friends who are into dolls too so it's great to have people to talk with and trade things with ^-^ I'm pretty new to this hobby but having people in real life make it easier to learn and experience things.

    16. My sister and I got into the hobby together. A sister counts as a friend, I hope!

    17. I got my friend Ven into the hobby and she recently got her first doll! :) I was super excited. I'm helping some of my other local friends get into it, like inviting them here and telling them the best places to get patterns/clothes/dolls/supplies, etc. I know a couple of other doll people in my area, but not very well.

    18. A whole group of them locally and several great people I've met at con and keep in touch with online. Locally the age range is from pre-teen to 40's+. Several hundred dolls locally, which is surprising for the area (Arkansas). A wonderful doll friend along with my fiancé and I founded and host the local meet group. We meet publicly once a month but informally whenever we need a doll day or just to do fun things, shop, go out to eat, often with our dolls in tow.

    19. yes i have friends that are into bjds and have many themself ^w^

    20. Yep! I've brought a few people into the hobby because they fell in love with my doll(s), and even though I only talk to one of them anymore, she and I enjoy bonding over our dolls. I've also met people at doll meetups that I like being able to talk to about dolls and take photos of them together.
