1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you have any "doll friends?"

Jun 19, 2011

    1. Yup! I have two friends that I've known in person for about 4 years and my older sister, who introduced me to the hobby. :) It's great to have people who can understand my fawning over dolls. xD;

    2. Sadly I do not. My husband and I are re stationing to San Diego next moth however so hopefully I can find a doll meet! I still have never been to one.
I have made some friends through YouTube and flickr though and they are wonderful!

    3. Yes! My friend who introduced me to the hobby and her sister as well as their friend I'd say (no harm in sharing the love, right?). I think it is really nice to have people that share in the fawning and enjoyment of dolls. My friend and I talk a lot about them and contemplate them together to a good extent. We met recently and just played around with our dolls for a while and it was really nice! :)

    4. I don't have any doll friends in real life but I do have two friends to talk to about the hobbie on the internet

    5. No sadly! I had one a few years ago, but we've long since lost touch. I don't know anyone personally that's into the hobby, online or otherwise. :sweat

    6. No. Unfortunately I don't have any doll friends. Maybe my daughter when she's older will enjoy dolls like I do one day ;)

    7. i dont have any doll friends i would love to though i just dont know where to look x.x....

    8. I do wish I have some friends that I know who coincidentally love dolls too - but it doesn't seem so.

If I want doll friends, I would have to go down to a doll meet to make some.

My sister is the only one in this world who I know personally who likes dolls >.>

    9. I have a good friend who helped me on getting my first doll. We are the only two collectors around, so we do meetings by ourselves everytime we can. Besides her, I know one or two other girls personally who are into dolls, but they are from other places and we don't see each other very often. I got some online doll friends too and we usually talk to each other by skype (:.

    10. I have one that's reeeeeeeeeeeally into BJDs but he hasn't be able to buy his first yet! He's into YoSDs and we happen to like the very same, so we're looking forward to order those together when the time comes! Can't wait for him to get his first doll!

As for online friends, I can say I have a few, yes! Some of them have been dragged into the hobby by me, hah! :whee:

    11. Yes! I have two, who are both also on this forum. I got introduced to BJDs by them. It's great to have people to talk to about this stuff, because when I show pics of my dolls on other forums, people tend to say they're creepy. :XD:

    12. I do not. I tend to be a loner in real life, but I wouldn't mind finding doll friends. I live in a village though so really there isn't anyone nearby who I could befriend, unless it were online. I have talked about my dolls in real life to some people, but none have been dragged into this hobby ... yet. Haha :XD:

    13. Yes! I'm really lucky to have a friend in the hobby. We're learning together, which is lots of fun!

    14. No, I don't really have any doll friends. I am not an overly talkative person... I tend to keep to myself. I would love to make some bjd friends. I only know of 1 other person in my town that is in the hobby... She told me I am the only other person she has come across in the past 4 years or so ); that does not give me very much hope that I will actually find more people around me to meet up with...

    15. I had a doll friend, the girl who introduced me into bjds when I was 17 but we didn't keep the contact because we didn't have many other things in common besides school and dolls.
Now I don't consider anyone a dolly friend, only acquaintances.

    16. I have one friend who would like to own a BJD but thinks they're too expensive. My mum and a lot of my friends don't want their own dolls but like to see/hear about them. That's good enough for me :)

    17. None! My eldest sister has a passion for blythe dolls and has just bought her first BJD (but an off topic one here), so nearly, but not quite.

    18. For the first 3 years that I had dolls there was nobody to talk to who liked them. I saw my best friend Cory every day because we were room mates, but she didn't see why I collected dolls. Then last May we both had to move out and we now live in different parts of town, so we don't see each other every day. We still see each other twice a week, when we go together to Bible class and church. But not long after we moved to separate places, she started showing some interest in my dolls.

Then in August my friend admitted she wanted a doll for herself. I was in shock. She'd always said she thought it was a kind of ridiculous to want dolls at my age. I was so happy to finally be able to talk about dolls with her, that I secretly put the doll she wanted on layaway and gave it to her for her birthday in October. Cory was so thrilled with her doll (Iplehouse BID Coco) and now we talk "doll talk" every time we get together. It's so much fun to have someone who enjoys them as much as I do. Cory's hobby is jewelry making, and she is now making jewelry for my dolls, and I sew, so I'm making clothes for her doll. It's added so much to our friendship.

    19. I have a friend that likes my dolls, also i got him a doll too,
we use to go out together to take photos, i wish there were more friends to share the hobby

    20. My mother and best friend love looking at bjds with me although they don't have one themselves. My best friend hopes to start saving up for one in the new year. Before I moved to Georgia from Maryland I had a neighbor who collected dolls. Her daughter did too. They were great and I miss them. I hope to make some more friends while I'm here because I love sharing this hobby with others.
