1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you have any "doll friends?"

Jun 19, 2011

    1. I don't have any dolly friends in "real" life, but I have made some, and they're some of the nicest people around!

    2. Recently I told all of my friends that I collect bjds and all of them think their cool at the least, but one in particular was looking at pictures of them on her phone and commenting on how beautiful they were. It really made me feel good, finally someone other than my mom can admire my dolls and possibly get her own.

    3. sadly i dont have doll friends in my real life .. they are just think i'm a crazy people that always spend my money 'just for a doll'
but i dont care what people say . i love this hobby and i never feel i spend my money just because i'm buying some doll proops or new doll . even when i feeling sad , i always look into my doll and then , i'll feel happy again . sorry for bad english

    4. I don't have doll friends in real life either. People I know generally don't see them as worth the money or they have other 'priorities'.

    5. I wish I had dolly friends. One of my older friends happened to get a doll around the time I got one. But we don't talk that much anymore and they live in another time zone. The few friends I have in the general area are mostly artists who collect video games. Which I respect, seeing as I do the same. At least my mother is supportive. She occasionally buys miniature things from the thrift story for my doll.

    6. I have real and internet doll friends. Well, one of each to be accurate. And then there are a lot of cool people in my local doll group that are not quite friends, but definitely acquaintances that I look forward to seeing at meet ups.

    7. yes :) I virtualy meet friends because of dolls
I already meet some of them because we live in the same city (one of them if one of my best friends now)
and the other one is in Europe and we have a strong personal relationship now ..
but at the begining it was only for dolls

    8. Yes. Since getting into the hobby I have met some wonderful people. I didn't know anyone when I got my first doll and had never seen a bjd in person but that soon changed. I packed him up and headed off to my first doll meet. It was wonderful seeing all those dolls and meeting others who loved them as much as I do. I now know lots of people some that I meet up with and others from all over the world that have become long distance friends.

    9. No, I don't know anyone that collects either BJD's or non BJD dolls. I'm fine about it though. I live in a sleepy coastal town and don't drive so seeing doll exhibitions is a no no too. In the UK they are too far from me and there aren't many that I know of anyway, they certainly aren't local. Ah well never mind.

    10. Yes, my best friend got suckered into the hobby, heh. I was surprised she was interested to be honest! Now she has several BJDs of her own, and it's definitely nice to have someone who "gets" the hobby. We largely have completely differing tastes though and she still thinks I am completely crazy!

    11. Actually, it's two friends of mine that made me discover the hobby and totally converted me xD
And I converted another friend, who bought her own BJD.
I think it's really nice to have friends with who you can share the doll hobby :)

    12. No, I don't :/ nor online or "irl".

I wish I had, though. I'm just too shy to start talking to people.

    13. I found one person in my town through a Facebook group! I feel really lucky to have found her. She's super experienced in the hobby and a rad person. Other than her, I don't have anyone IRL that shares the hobby with me, but most of my friends and family think it's cool and support me in it, which is amazing. Then of course I have online doll friends who live across the globe :XD: maybe someday I'll meet some of them.

    14. My best friend of 8 years is my coolest doll friend. :3

    15. I wish I had real life doll friends... I'm actually afraid to tell my friends about my hobby. They wouldn't understand. :/

    16. I neither have bjd friends online, nor in real life.. I am completely new to the whole thing and don't own a doll yet but that wouldn't change anything when it comes to doll friends in real life 'cause no one I know is interested in things like that..

    17. i have one friend who is a bit interested, and probably would have gotten a doll by now if she could have honestly afford it, but no one online as of yet. Plus, she now leaves a bit far, so traveling to her house can be time consuming.

    18. I suppose I do. An old friend of mine brought me in to the hobby. Another friend of my inherited an antique collection of dolls and set up an adorable room for them. Yet another collects Blythe. Another, Barbie. But we all love dolls and admire each collections so I don't really feel lonely or that I can't talk about dolls.

    19. Does it count that we were friends before we had BJD's? Raouken was my classmate and the one who got me into this hobby.

    20. I don't really have anyone to talk about my doll plans with, much less anyone I can meet up with.
