1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you have any "doll friends?"

Jun 19, 2011

    1. I wish! My roommates think my dolls are creepy, and my two best friends agrees.

    2. I actually pulled my friend into the bjd hobby! It was great. Before I got one I was always like, "will people thing I'm weird?" And she said, "well.. I won't judge. So." And now both of us are completely obsessed.

    3. I sure wish I did. It would be great to have a friend who's also into the BJD hobby.

    4. Sadly I don't really have any doll friends
That's why I joined doa and some facebook groups

    5. My first BJD friend, sadly, passed away last summer and until I dragged one of my other friends into this hobby at the beginning of this year I didn't have anyone. Now she has been my BJD buddy ever since. I also have another friend who I found out wanted a BJD when we reconnected after many years apart. She told me that she wanted one and when she found out that I had some, she immediately wanted to handle them. Now she has her own. Neither live overly close to me but we are able to get together on occasion.

    6. @maykoh I'm really sorry about your friend. I'm glad you have others though.

I don't have any BJD friends IRL, sadly. I had one years ago who said she was interested, but never actually took the plunge. I once sold her a faceup practice head of mine for cheap (some old Luts event head), but I don't think she ever did anything with it.

    7. When I collected Pullips I had a small circle of friends on Flickr, but nowadays I'm pretty on my own. One of those friends actually gifted me my first BJD, which was rad. But it's been about three years and all of us have drifted apart. I would love having doll friends again though, I remember even role playing with our dolls' characters and it really helped with character development and kinda getting a feel for each doll's personality. There have been two or three people who have talked to me through my Tumblr, but things just didn't work out :sweat I miss having people to gush about doll things with, my other friends and my boyfriend are probably tired of hearing about my hobby that they know nothing about :XD:

    8. I do have doll friends, but none of them collect BJDs like I do, though we share the love of other dolls & doll makers!

    9. I've gone to a few meet ups in my area, but I don't think I have any doll friends yet, more like doll acquaintances for now.

    10. Nope. All of my friends and family are "okay" with it. They just have no interest.

    11. Sadly, I have no dolly friends. I would really like to have at least one dolly friend that is in my city.

    12. There's a part of the cite that has meet ups! People plan a little doll meet up and it's a great way to meet some doll friends in your city. If there's not one there for your town, start one yourself and plan a dolly meet up :3nodding:

    13. I have one doll friend but that is mainly because I haven't done anything to try and get more. I had a lot of friends interested in dolls when I started back in 2006 but as the years have passed I have lost contact with some of them and others have lost their interest in the hobby.

I had my hobby on a low level for some years due to real life things that needed to be solved but now I am once more fully dedicated to this hobby so I hope to get more friends once more. Unfortunately I live in a very small country so the hobby is not that widespread :(

    14. I do :cheer Although I see my out-of-state doll friends more during the year than the ones that actually live in the same area as me :doh I also have a very small cluster of close on-line doll friends - have met a few from that group IRL and wished we lived closer together (or at least in the same country!) I'm fortunate that I have a couple of larger doll shows around me that are starting to get more BJD type dolls and accessories available, so that helps with meeting up with the out-of-staters. My mom also attends the doll shows with me and I think she is getting near the verge of wanting her "own" doll, even though she doesn't collect dolls. But she likes my hobby so I'm grateful for that.

    15. My earlier post I did have some online dolly friends, but we've gone our own ways and now I'm on my own. I do wish I had someone to talk dolly stuff with, go to meets, and have dolly play dates or crafting days. Maybe someday!

    16. ...there are offline people who like dolls?

I wish I knew people who liked dolls. I've only been around ~40cm and ~50cm scale dolls (and the 50cm scale doll was kind of a bad mould so he was just kind of a grotesque exaggeration of the 1/4th dolls imo), so I kind of have this fantasy of seeing a whole bunch of different sized dolls and resins together and getting to touch and hold them all. This is going to sound creepy, but I really wish I knew someone who would let me touch their 70cm doll.

But no, the only people I really ever communicate with are coworkers, and they pretty much have my eternal disinterest for their eternal discussion of right-wing politics. More doll events should happen at night, in obscure corners of the world, when the sun is down, and everything is hidden, I might even take time off of work for them if they happened.

    17. I don't have a doll friend. But I do have a good friend that let's me drag her around to meets with out complaining. She spent a full three days at doll-a-kon with me:dance.

    18. I have one doll friend now, but my best friend met the hobby and now she wants to start her own collection

    19. I have had allot of doll friends but only a couple dozen bjd doll friends and they have different tastes in dolls than me mostly with a few exceptions. I am always grateful for any and all friends I get along with and can talk to more so the bjd type crew but mostly love to revel in the friends that are as fantasy addicted as I am with the bjds [I also learn allot from my friends in the fashion bjd jantra]

    20. Yes I have ! And they are now closed friends. That's very good to be able to talk about it with some people that understand and know what we are talking about. I also have my grandmother that love dolls, she owns some too ! :D
