1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you have any "doll friends?"

Jun 19, 2011

    1. Alas, no BJD friends!
That is why I'm so excited to be on this forum! :aheartbea Now I can meet more enthusiasts! Hello!!!:D

    2. OOPs, posted twice!

    3. My friend I made at cons got me in to BJDs and my best friend.

    4. I am lucky to belong to a doll collector's club. The members collect all types of dolls. It is great fun to see the various dolls, even if they are not ones I would personally collect.

I love this group because we all understand our common interest. Many people who do not collect dolls do not understand the reasons why adults collect dolls. ;)

    5. My husband likes my dolls, as does my mum, but nobody else knows. I recently "came out", dollie-wise, to a friend on the internet, because he also had a hobby which is less than mainstream and I thought he'd understand. He hasn't replied. Now I have doll-shame.:(

    6. Sort of. I've never actually met them in person, but I have a few friends on here and LiveJournal. One of them is quite an enabler(Yes, I'm talking about YOU, Akai Okami).

    7. I have one "doll friend" and a couple of friends who think they are really cool but aren't committed to the idea of owning one. My friend has a pretty obitsu and just got her first resin doll a month ago which isn't that long after I got my first bjd, so now we are planning more "dolly days" together so we can play with our dolls, pose them, take pictures and such. I was really excited when she told me she was getting a doll too, I was worried I'd be all alone; it can be intimidating when you don't know anyone.

    8. I wish i have a doll friends, so i join DoA
hope i can find some new friends here!

    9. Yes yes! I really count myself lucky as I have quite a few doll friends. <3 I joined a Facebook group about BJDs and made a post asking for friends, and to my surprise, the first person that added me was also from my state and organizes a meet-up group. Most of my doll friends are a few hours away, but I still make the drive up to the meets every month and have started a local chapter that is starting to get off the ground. Plus most of us keep up with each other on Facebook quite regularly. :D

    10. When I first started out in this hobby all I had was my sister and that was good and all but then she moved and I had no one else except for when she would come to visit. But then I discovered my best friend was into them as well and now the three of us get together almost every weekend with our dollies. Its great, our dollies have all become best friends too. :3
I thought, ya know that was it. I wouldn't make any more doll friends because of where I live, but then my older brother and his girlfriend got into them! So each time they're here we spend hours playing with our dolls and discussing future ones as well. :)

    11. Unfortunately I only have online doll friends and none I'm really close to. I've never come across anyone whose into dolls irl, my mum shows an interest so I'm able to show her what I've been collecting which is nice.

    12. Yep. I met a few on line in different groups and boards and decided that it would be even more fun to get together for in person doll play. So I organized a doll club that started this past February and we get together once a month. We've double in size in the last 8 months and we have *loads* of fun. The only downside is that they're all a bunch of enablers and my wishlist keeps getting longer because of them.

I've also gotten my DH and DS involved, so they're starting they're own collections slowly, but surely. :)

    13. I have a friend that I used to covet BJDs with. We didn't finally get to purchase our own dolls until we'd moved apart and lost touch. I found her on Facebook and we've shared pictures of the dolls we've finally been able to buy.

My wife also collects, though. We each found dolls we liked from the same site for our firsts (Dollmore) and now whenever we make a purchase, the other will check out the site and order at the same time, so we can save on shipping.

    14. ermmm... a lot :) Or rather I got to know so many people because of the hobby and dolls and then we meet rather frequently after all. That's what's the best about hobbies: you get into something and then your friends are in it :)

    15. just a small handful of people really. I'm slowly becoming more talkative and trying to make friends so hopefully more will come soon :)

    16. My sister and one of my friends are into them, but that's about it. Not too many people I have come across even know what they are.

    17. I have quite a few friends who are also into the BJDs. A few from conventions, meets and even a few old friends from other interests who I have met up with recently. My own 21 year old daughter is also interested in them. So I am very lucky.

    18. CJ, Ann and I were friends before BJDs, but there are a lot of people I've met at meets (many of whom are here on DOA) that I consider to be friends now.

    19. Well to be perfectly honest I don't have a lot of friends to begin with, and though I have meet a lot of people on DOA and at doll meets I would still say that they are more aquantiences. Though I would like to get to know people more, I'm just a bit shy and tend to be little quirky so as much as I would love more friends in the dollie realm I don't foresee it being something that happens instantly.

    20. I have a couple. One of my friends is getting her first doll soon! n_n I'm just as excited for her doll as I was for my recent Shushu!

The rest of my friends who aren't really "into" the dolls love them and love that I bring them around.
