1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Jun 5, 2021

    1. omg cat breeds!!! so clever :whee:

theres something so elegant about bird names tbh :o
lunar names? sounds cool!! like names of moons and like moon phases?

      hell yea tolkien!!!!! :D

    2. Oohh Frederica? What flower does that tie back to?
I think the furthest a floral name for one of my ocs goes is Camille! Like camellia!
so cool!!!! I love characters with mythology themes/names to them :D

    3. Lunar features actually.
White Catsy: Terra (based on Terrae, the lighter highlands)
Black Catsy: Marria (based on Maria, plural of Mare, the dark lowland or seas)
If I can ever get a grey Catsy, or find another white one to dye, her name will be Catena (name for a crater chain).

    4. My old theme used to be city names. I have a Rio, Verona, and Sochi. My most recent theme is to never decide on a name.

I really like the floral idea that some of you use. I think I'll look into some too and hopefully find a name or two to give some of my more recent dolls. At this point it feels awkward to give them names though since they've been around for years without one!

    6. city names is a pretty cool idea!
I totally know how you feel...I have a pullip I've had for almost a decade and I've never given her a name! I want to give her one but it feels so late at this point lol :"3

    7. Not strict ones, but I do have a tendency (especially among my "Victorian" BJD family) to go for long and/or old-fashioned names of the type my mother used to refer to as "flowery" names - given to dolls who are then always referred to by shorter versions or "pet-name" versions of the name.

      Alphonse - Alphie,
      Rhododendron - Roddy
      Serendipitous - Sera
      Clytemnestra - Nesta
      Roberto - Bobbin
      Margaret - Peggy
      Ephiginia - Phige
      Delphinium - Phinnie
      Leopold - Polly
      Charlotte - Lottie
      Charles - Charlie
      Maude - Maudie
Ruth - Nancy (OK this one's different, in that it's a character from a favourite series of books, as is her sister Peggy)

Although Isambard, Cressida, Hannah, Edith, Ikarus and others haven't been shortened or given pet-name versions so...

    8. I have no theme at all anymore, but when I collected anthros/pets, they all had names that related to what they were: Lucy Faire (Lucifer-a devil mouse), Charra (fire breathing dragon), Wanda (wandering ghost), Kit (cat/kitten), Mr. E (mystery- Enfield Horror) and I still have my off topic terrier, Minnie (mini version of my own dog).

    9. I agree with your mom about them being "flowery" very lovely names! I especially love the nicknames, all so cute!!!

    10. I don't have a single naming strategy.
Some of my dolls carry their sculpt names.
Many of my dolls have a name suggestive of their sculpt names
so AoD Lan became Lanelle and Souldoll Cior is Charlie.
Some names the dolls themselves suggested to me; My Volks
SDC Gretel emerged from her box complaining that Volks named
a sophisticated young lady like herself "after that ragamuffin" She's
      been Sophia ever since.

    11. "that ragamuffin"
      LOL!!!!!

    12. My first BJD was named after the OT doll that started me collecting dolls, then the next family had Hawaiian names beginning with K. Then I just started naming them after characters in favorite stories, some Tolkien, some children's stories, some sci fi, some just stories.

    13. It's a reference to characters with similar names from Higurashi: When They Cry. One is Frederica, the ambiguous alter ego of Rika ("pear flower.")

    14. I see!!!!! I love the when they cry series, especially Umineko!

    15. I don't know when I'll wind up getting Marigold's 'family', but they would all have seasonal plant names-- just like hers is the birth month flower for October, and she's an autumn spirit. But none of my other groups really have a 'theme', they've got their character names, be it OCs or character dolls.

    16. I don't have any dolls yet but I love using lunar names, various old royalty or mythology and modified scientific names obscure flowers (esp. poisonous ones) to name things in the past!

    17. Flowers and spices.
I have a couple doll projects and they're all named something floral. For example Fläderblom (Elderflower) and Kamomill (Chamomile)
