Do you hug your Dolls when you are upset/lonely?

Nov 1, 2010

    1. These past two days I've been sick as a dog running crazy temps and not being able to breath right or sleep very well. At first I was didn't touch my boy because I didn't want to get any germs on him but after a horrid night and waking up gasping I cuddled him to death to help me stay calm. So my question for you all is when your sick do you handle your dolls or cuddle with them or are you like me at first and stay away from them?

    2. Well, they don't hold onto germs quite the way a plush would, I would think... If I was sick and thought I was going to vomit, or was having a runny nose that needed constant attention, I wouldn't want to hold one of my boys, but if I'm just feeling crummy, I do like to cuddle something, and my cat's not always in the mood.

(Of course, if I was worried about throwing up/sneezing all over a doll if I held them, but I really wanted the comfort, I might do what my sister does and set them up nearby-- she's got a special little area next to her comfy chair with doll stands and a mini chair so that when she's sick at home and wrapped in blankets in front of the TV all day, her dolls are right there to cheer her up as a visual when she can't hold them)

      =^__^=

    3. I see no reason not to handle them. If I'm at home sick, then I'm going to be shedding germs everywhere anyway -- I don't see how it would matter.

    4. I don't handle my doll when I'm sick. It's not really because of germs and stuff.
It's more like... I don't want to handle her, because I feel terrible and dirty and unsanitary. I haven't been showering, I have been wearing the same clothes for three days.
I FEEL unsanitary, and because of that I don't want to handle her.
I've just been sick for a week and I haven't given her much attention. She has been sitting perched on a shelf so that I can always see her.
That is comfort enough for me.

    5. If I'm getting sick, it's always not just a cold but much much worse. I'd not really want to get them dirty with sweat or snot or whatever I leak, so I'd stay away from them.
      I don't get sick much, though. ^^

    6. Yes of course! I hug them whenever I'm happy or unhappy~

    7. Oh well, my Pipos Mac is the one my boyfriend "uses" to hand me a tissue when I'm crying.
I instantly feel better then. Looking at dolls has a soothing effect on me.

Since I'm rarely sick I've never tried hugging or handling my dolls at times like this. I think it would depend on how sick I am, but I'll probably at least would want to hold a tiny resin hand. :(

    8. I end up sleeping with Conner, (bb apollo) when i am having a bad night.. he's the one i go to when not feeling well, or very sad

    9. I used to cuddle with my BBB Apollo when I was down but I haven't had an SD, or really any doll, since that I've had the urge to cuddle with.

    10. Me and Vivi curl up and watch movies together whenever my boyfriend is at work and I start to get lonely. :)

    11. Whenever I'm having a bad day I do grab a dolly friend and cuddle until I feel a bit better. Sometimes I wish our dolls were as comfy as teddy bears so we could really cuddle.

    12. I hug my dolls all the time! Not only when I feel bad or lonely. Just cause I want to. It makes you feel better :)

    13. I was pretty sad the other day, so for once I sat my doll in my lap and continued to work on what I was doing. It was really nice, and indeed made me feel a little better. :)

    14. I don't hug them, but I find myself talking to them out loud a lot lol. XD

    15. I have. I had one at the wedding I was in, and managed to mess up my arm in a fall. I held onto him for dear life, sobbing. It hurt and I thought I'd ruin her wedding...but I didn't, and he did make me feel a little better.

    16. Oh my gosh!! That sounds terribly painful :( Thank goodness he was there for you ;)

    17. I'm not really the kind of person to get sad. If anything, when I'm upset I feel angry. So that's probably not a great time to put my hands on my dolls. lol

But I really don't feel that an inanimate object can give me any comfort. At the very most, after posing my two lovers together I've given them a little hug and thought, 'You are so cute together, it makes me happy!' But if I'm upset, I want my wife, not my dolls.

    18. usually at least one of them everyday :) whats the point in having them if you cant hug them...there dolls

    19. Of course, I hug my dolls. They are my quiet and patient companions. :D

    20. Yes, but I alo carry mine around alot. For me it's just a habit I've had for a long time.
