Do you keep your doll in his/her box at night?

Nov 27, 2011

    1. Mine all just sit on their shelf together when I'm not using them. I have way too many dolls, and the boxes take up so much room, it just wouldn't be practical. @__@ My boxes are just in the attic right now. Hahah.

I have to say though, I'm scared of other types of dolls, like porcelain dolls. I couldn't sleep with them in my room. XD My BJDs don't bother me, though.

    2. I'd like to have my dolls near my pillow when I sleep, but I'm afraid to break them while sleeping, so I put them on their own armchair, but never in a box. I keep different doll-stuff in the box, but dolls should be always out. But of course different people have different reasons. I know that my dolls are safe and nobody can harm them, otherwise I would keep them in boxes.

    3. I do keep them in a box when I am not using them because I have cats and I don't want them to eat their wigs!! It just feels safer.

    4. My dolls have always stayed in one of my room chairs overnight.

I will say, however, that I also had nightmares about my dolls when I was younger- my porcelain ones.

But, the first night I had my boy, I had a dream where he sat up and started talking to me. I had gotten him secondhand, and he was telling me that he liked my house better, and he was really nice and stuff.

Never afraid to leave them out in my room at night now. Except for my first time home alone over night. But they were just in the kitchen, lying on the table.

But, now that my first time alone over night is finished, they just chill in their chair together and it doesn't bother me at all- home alone or not.

    5. My dolls live on a shelf in my dressing room, right in front of my bedroom. I wish I could see them from my bed! :)

    6. I have four dogs one of which is pregnant and last time she had a litter of 6. And on top of that a guinea pig and a leporad gecko and 2 beta fish and lets not forget my household of 6 including my 8 year old sister. There are PLENTY of ways my poor Lydia could get dirty or damaged so I keep her in her box on top of my closet just in case. If it was just me and my animals(Out of all the dogs and animals, I only own 1 of the fish 1 of the dogs and the gecko.) If it was just us id have no problem with keeping her out I just don't want to have something happen to her. Its just safer to keep her in the box unforgettably.

    7. Nope!! My dolls reside on their own self. If the need arose for more room, I would perfer to buy them a new self than box them. That being said, I have no children and only a 6 pound dog and, caged bird and beta fish ;)

    8. I tend to keep my doll out of her box. She has her own chair in the corner of my bedroom, so sometimes, I place her there. Otherwise, I keep her in the living room out of the sun because my mom loves looking at her. Honestly, I think it's a little strange when people keep their dolls in boxes. Yeah, it preserves them...but it seems like they're packing away the doll, like they're not fully admiring it. Yeah, I know that's typically not the case, but that's just how it feels to me. :sweat

    9. I don't have any dolls yet, but I get my first one, I plan to keep him on top of a large armoire in my bedroom. Half the fun of having the doll is getting to look at them everyday and I really don't see the enjoyment of keeping him in a box : / However, if someone wanted to keep their dolls in boxes for protection, that is good too. Though they aren't my dolls, so it doesn't bother me.

    10. I store her just in the night if I am in the way of cleaning her, but If she is totally dressed I keep her out of it.

    11. I keep them out at night, the girls currently stay on the end table next to our bed, which has been made into a makeshift "bedroom" for them. Since I plan on moving into a larger home soon, they will eventually have a large table made into their area. I can't wait to make them actual beds and furniture and such, rather than having them always sit in a chair or on a small (human-small) pillow.

As far as the creepy factor goes, I like to think they would scare anything else away. Especially my currently faceup-less doll.

    12. Yeah Remi stays in his box at night because I have a cat who has to get into everything and has proven before that he has no problem knocking Remi over even on a shelf so...yeah got to think of Remi's safety.

    13. My dolls stay on a small shelf (made of manga actually) on the most central dresser in my room ^^ I like to say 'hi' to them when I come home :whee:

    14. I have a wooden bed on a shelf in my closet that my boy stays in all the time when I'm not playing with him. My room tends to get really hot ( Haha, to me at least), and the closet stays perpetually cool. I'm also afraid my pets will damage him if I don't put him behind a closed door. I just kind of use the box he came in as a place to throw the clothes into.

    15. All my dolls sit on a shelf in my bedroom. I like to admire them.

    16. My dolls live my room

    17. Nope! I haven't had a reason/need to yet. My two girls hang out on a shelf in my office and nothing bothers with them. Sometimes, if the cats are tearing around, they get knocked over, but as they're not resin, I'm not too worried because they're pretty sturdy. The worst that happens is they fall on my keyboard and hang out there until I wake up.

Once I get a resin doll, it'll be kept much safer. One of my cats like chewing on resin (I have a bird skull that's resin cast and it's riddled with little cat teeth on its beak), so they'll definitely be kept in either their box or up on a shelf the cats can't reach. The cats aren't interested in the plastic, so they don't bother the two I have now.

    18. I keep my doll in her box whenever I'm not playing with her because my room has many windows and I live in a climate that is extremely sunny year round and I'm afraid her grey skin might yellow or, god forbid, green. Of course I don't have anything against doll owners who keep their dolls out of their boxes. I'm pretty envious of them actually. I think it'd be awesome to have my doll out in the open so I could see her more frequently throughout the day.

    19. I have too many dolls to keep them in their box at night as of now! xD its good that no direct sunlight filters in my room at any time of day though, so they're all safe hanging out where they do.

    20. Naah, I have no reason to box her up every night. Most nights though when I go to bed I'll take her to sit on my nightstand.
