Do you keep your doll in his/her box at night?

Nov 27, 2011

    1. I think it's kind of cute to think of tucking one away in a box at night so of course I wouldn't think badly of anyone who puts or keeps their dolls in the box. Ours usually stay out and set up with a couple of exceptions: Kun usually stays in her violin case so she's ready to go somewhere in an instant. Another small one usually stays put up in a little case in my bag, she's my purse dolly to photograph when out and about.

    2. When I got my first doll, she stayed in her box at night because I was totally afraid of ruining her being a noob BJD owner and all that. That, and a little bit of that fear of dolls due to watching too many horror movies of that variety. Hahahaha. However, she ended up staying out of her box permanently after a while when my boyfriend (the one who bought her) would be far away for months at a time because of college, and she reminded me of him. Eventually, all the dolls I have now sit on a Volks couch just hanging out both night and day.

I don't have anything against owners that keep their dolls in their boxes at night. In fact, it's probably better practice to do that if you want to keep your doll as near mint as possible. I say, unless you intend to sell your doll at some point, you place your doll wherever you want at night. =D

    3. I prefer to keep my dolls in their boxes when I'm not playing with them. It's better for their protecting.
I've got no problems with people who put their dolls in their boxes. Everyone should do what they feel the most comfortable with.

    4. I have a cute storage trunk with a bed inside that I keep my doll in next to my bed. I usually put her away every night to prevent damage and ageing. One night I decided to keep her on top of the box and something fell off my wall onto her. Luckily it didn't damage her but it was a warning to keep her safe in her box. :3

    5. When I do not take care of my dolls I prefer to put them in the box to protect them.
I was never afraid of dolls then they could spend at night outside their box but I have a cat which likes rising everywhere ^^ "
And not, I have nothing against those who put them in box at night ^^ each is free to make what he wants ^^

    6. I always put my doll in her box at night. It's got nothing to do with being afraid of her being out at night (or with trying to preserve resale value, since I would never sell her) and I don't think there's anything wrong with NOT putting dolls away. The whole reason I do it is because I'm kind of a gigantic neat freak and part of my nighttime routine of winding down before bed is going thru all the rooms in my house straightening and making sure everything is tidy and put away and things are turned off. It just seems fitting and comfortable to put her in her box when I'm doing that, and leaving her out makes the nighttime tidying feel undone. In my imagination, she prefers to spend the night in there--- kind of like the Rozen Maiden dolls and their cases!

    7. No, but it's fine if other people do. I have all kinds of dolls all over the place, lined up on my bookcases, in display cubes, even on a shelf above my computer. I couldn't put them all away at night if I wanted to. I find them comforting to have around. I've never been afraid of dolls. Quite the contrary. I feel safer and more comfortable with them around me than I do when they are not. I guess I sort of view them as my own little dolly guardian angels?

    8. When I first got both my puki and my Pipos I would put them up at night because I have cats and they are nosy. However now the puki stays in a doll case on a high shelf most of the time and my Pipos doll stays on my computer desk. If I thought they were in any danger due to my animals they'd go up instantly, but it's a rare instance when one tries to get on my tiny and cluttered desk. I can see the logic in putting them up to keep them from getting full of dust or something if they're not being moved around a lot during the day too, or just as a peace of mind. I don't sleep in the room they're kept in so there's no fear of having something stare at me all night, unless you count the half dozen stuffed animals in my bed lol.

    9. I have a huge dresser and the middle top drawer is very large. I made a nice little bed in it to hold my dolls. Right now I have 2 msds and 2 yosds. I also have my two yosd's doll boxes in that drawer. I keep my dolls in there when I'm at work and overnight so that my cat doesn't accidentally knock them down. If I took the doll boxes out I could easily fit two more msds and maybe another tiny. I find it a hassle to put my dolls in their boxes. I really like for them to be near and I love that it's so easy to take them out of their drawer. Plus, I can relax knowing that they are perfectly safe. Lord knows where I'm going to store an sd when I finally get one.

    10. Hubby and I's bedroom is pretty dark as we have only one window in there and the blinds are always drawn so I feel safe (safe from sun damage) keeping them out all the time, I like to be able to look at them whenever I am in the room. My wonderful husband gave me an armoire/cabinet thing that is just for them, all of their boxes, clothing and such are in the drawers and cabinet part and they sit on top.

    11. I do not have the space or privacy to safely display my doll, so he is placed inside his box after every play session. If he were on display, I would worry about him for one reason or another. When he is in his box, I have peace of mind. I have no problem with other folk who keep their dolls in boxes for reasons of safety and preservation.

    12. I used to keep my girl in her box anytime I wasn't doing something with her. I was worried she would get broken or get too much sunlight. Recently I've been leaving her out though. I feel bad keeping her cooped up in her box, and there really isn't any light other then artificial in my living room where she's at.

I can completely understand though. I have a dressform and I move it to different rooms when I'm working on things, and whenever I would spot it out of the corner of my eye in the darkness it would scare the bajeezes out of me ><

    13. In general my dolls all actually go into the same box and stay there over night. But since I got my girl doll not long ago... Well things have changed. Clove in particular stays out ALL the time. When she arrived, the box she was sent in was moldy on the outside and smelled so we simply chucked it and since then I just feel like I want my dolls out. So that's kind of what I've been doing ever since. XD

    14. I keep my dolls in their boxes unless I'm taking them out for photos or to work on them... I worry about them getting yellowed (well that will happen anyways haha)

I may leave them out if I had more space in my living quarters. There's just no room to have them out all the time. Having them 'put away' in the boxes saves them from sun damage AND there's no space anyways.

I have no problem with people who keep their dolls in boxes at night

    15. My doll stays in his box during the night because I want my doll to stay safe and clean. So, I don't mind others doing the same thing. :)

    16. Never. Because even if i know it's "risky", if i buy a doll it's not for it to be in a box. And i would forget to put them in the box at night even if i wanted to x)

    17. I've never thought to keep my dolls in their boxes, simply because when I buy something (a toaster, a TV, a table) I take it out of the box, and put the box away in storage incase I might want to sell the item one day (or if I move house) - But I think it's a cute idea to tuck them up in their box at night - especially if you have cats!

    18. Actually no, I like having my dolls outside their boxes, I actually keep them on my desk UvU

    19. When I first got Shiloh, I had her sleeping in her box with the lid off in my bedroom because she didn't really have anywhere else to "sleep" at the time. I quickly found an alternative for her seeing as how at night I'd easily get freaked out when the lights went out :sweat The movie "The Conjuring" didn't help either haha! But now I always leave her out of the box in my computer room. She has her own little area set up for her so I don't really see the point in putting her away in a box at night.
I don't have a problem with anyone who puts theirs away - I guess its just a preference thing. I like to see my girl and admire her each time I come into the room. And I probably wouldn't have the patience to pack her away and then unpack her each day, hehe.. :sweat

    20. I keep my new dolls in their boxes all the time and they stay in their boxes until the character is complete, once completed they come out and stay out in my bedroom. I honestly can't see why anyone would have any problem with a persons, personal preference. I feel everyone should do what they feel the most comfortable with.
