Do you keep your doll in his/her box at night?

Nov 27, 2011

    1. When I first got my doll I kept her in her box at night because I was sooooo paranoid about yellowing, but after a while I decided that it probably wouldn't matter much, since my room doesn't get much light anyway. Now she has her own little corner of my room where I keep her :) one day I hope to make an entire little bedroom set up for her that she can be in at night.

    2. @ Oceana you remind me of myself. Had awful nightmares as a child about this 40 cm porcelain doll my auntie gave me. It was around the time "Chucky" came out (maybe that had something to do with it lol). Anyways all my dolls live in the craft room; they have their own shelf house there with a door on it. Which stays shut at night. Not sure why but there's something about that pale skin glowing in the moonlight that just makes me want to hide. Maybe I should get a tan bjd and see if that helps. Or stop watching old school horror movies. Whatever.

    3. My dolls sleep in black leather coffins at the foot of my bed.....but I do undress them and put them in bed every night. Though with work and everything there are times when they spend days or weeks in their coffins.....

    4. I usually store them some place out of sight and away from light when I go to sleep. My tiny in a drawer. My YOSD in a tool box. My Iplehouse big dude, I wrap in a blanket and kind of shove him to one corner of the bed. So technically, he sleeps with me. haha.

    5. I keep almost all my dolls in their boxes at night... for the very simple reason that I keep almost all my dolls in their boxes all the time, except when I'm actively working with them :XD:

    6. Well no offense i have my doll in there boxes all the time my iplehouse Zera and bobobie DAI in there special box so they feel relax and damage free. Aside that i seen youtubers ppl put there doll in a nice storage made room like and is really nice although i one those ppl be very careful and gentle with my doll safety cause i paid good gap for it lol. Not only that i saw the movie call dollmaster an korean movie about dollies and there was a soft spot i saw (about an owner going to a haunted house with other guests and long story short she get a flashback of her own doll that is life human doll while the dolllife. Look at her scar remembering the time she was taking care of by her owner knowing she hadn't forgotten her) i really cry at this movie cause i throw away the junkypost freebe dvd cause i was a bit terrified by it so i wont get any silly nightmare of it so pretty much. It touch my heart i must say they have it in youtube so is called "Dollmaster".

    7. As soon as my doll first comes out of the box, they never go back in it again (but I do keep their boxes). My dolls have their own beds which they sleep in.

I don't have anything against people who keep them in boxes. It's their money and their dolls, so they can do as they wish, but I personally don't do it. I paid alot of money on them and I want to see them at all times.

    8. My dolls' boxes are basically their beds; so yeah, I do put them in their boxes when I remember. They mostly just sit on my desk though, but it's not that much of a big deal because my bed is 2 meters off the ground and I can't see my desk from my bed. I would be a little freaked out knowing there's someone just staring though... Which is why I always turn their heads when they go in their boxes for a night of sleep. (The boxes are next to my bed)

There are also two cats that like to sit on them or lick their hair... Or they just gnaw on their fingers; which is less unfortunate.

    9. I possibly would if there was no safe place to set them.

    10. Well that would take me forever so no. I have all their boxes put away. The dolls are on a shelf or in a book case in my craft room. I'm the only one who ever goes in there and the door stays shut with the blinds closed all the time.

    11. I don't box mine up, no; it'd take a while, for one, and take up a lot more room than they already do, too. (The boxes currently live under my bed, after the closet became too cramped... not sure where I'll go next with them, but luckily I generally only need them when I move!) They've all got "homes" on a pair of bookshelves in my room, and that's where they stay when I'm not actively fussing with them, posed in little groups. It's a good place for them and works out well, for the most part!

I don't have anything against anyone who does box their dolls at night, though; I do understand the creepy aspect in a way. I've got an old, classic Teddy Ruxpin/Grubby pair that have their eyes closed all the time because it's too creepy to me if they're open, since they're able to blink and "talk." I've dealt with it by keeping them shut all the time. The dolls don't have the same effect, since they can't move on their own, thankfully.

    12. My dolls leave the box and don't return to it, unless I plan on selling one. I do keep all the boxes though. My dolls don't have bed either. It was a plan once, but now there are too many. The vampires have a mini couch all to themselves (they do sit closely together, nice and cozy) and the fantasy beings have a wooden bench with faux fur to sit on. My msd uses two mobile phone seats (one for the butt, one for the legs) and my zuzu is currently sitting on a chair in progress (not for him though).

Edit: oh, and the reason why: I like to see them, all the time. If I store them in boxes I will miss them and I'm lazy as a dog, so I won't be taking them out that often. If other people prefer to keep their dolls in boxes, that is okay with me. Whatever floats your boat.

    13. I've kept all of my doll's boxes (even my first doll's who is 6 now) partly incase they ever have to go into storage or in the unlikely event that I sell one of them and mostly because it's a nice reminder for me of when they arrived and I'm weird in that I like to keep everything they came with. None of them have gone back into the boxes once they came out of them though: currently they all live on a shelf in my bedroom and one day I'd like to have a proper storage cupboard where they can all stay. I like having them immediately to hand if I want them, but somewhere where they're safe from damage or sunlight.

    14. My dolls stay in their boxes in my closet all the time unless I'm using them. It's just easier to keep them clean and safe that way.

    15. Me too. I usually keep my dolls in their boxes (I think is the best place where to keep them when you are not using them), but sometimes, there's times I use them a lot, so I keep them in a wood room box I made myself. Is very cute, and I like to see my doll (sometimes if I keep them too much in the box, I forgot I have them  ), to watch my dolls make me feel always inspired to do something for them, or do pictures with them etc...

    16. I don't keep mine in boxes, but that is only because I have the grand total of three boxes, four pillows and one carry case between nine dolls, and no space to put the boxes once they're in said boxes!

    17. There are these times when my SD guy sleeps in my bed hahaha, I have loved dolls since always, they have a strong meaning for me. I've never been scared of any doll and less my BJDs so is pretty normal to me to leave them out of their boxes at night and at any hour :)

    18. I keep my work in progress dolls, and ones waiting on a stand in boxes. The rest are out in display cases, dresser, or my desk.

    19. If I didn't have a rather wide doll bed from when I was younger, my dolls would definitely sleep in their boxes. I'm not sure they'd be covered or anything, but I'd use it for them to sit/lay in at least. My room is rather cluttered, so the space I have set up for them is really the only place they can go ^ ^;;

    20. I used to, but now they sit on my desk, which is on the far side from the window so they're never touched by any sun (before I wouldn't even have them out when it got dark and I had to light the desk lamp up, that's how paranoid I was at the beginning xD).
