It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Do you keep your doll in his/her box at night?

Nov 27, 2011

    1. My current dolls are always out and have not been in their boxes since they came. I do admit, though, that before I was in the hobby I had the same fear as the OP.
Granted, mine stay in the living room. I've considered on occasion bring one into the bedroom at night to see if I have truly outgrown the fear, but would feel silly if I hadn't!

    2. If I put my dolls in their boxes at night, I'd be boxing for hours with no end in sight...I don't have that kind of time.

    3. I put my Littlefee in her box at night, not because I'm scared of her (since I do have other type of dolls displayed), but because she's too valuable for me.
I'm obsessed with keeping her away from the dust and the light if I'm not playing with her.... Maybe one day I will get a glass case for her and the others.

    4. Yup! Mostly because I'm so afraid of something bad happening (like falling from a shelf!)

    5. No, they stay out in the open...on the shelf, on a chair, the table, wherever I last left them when I was playing with them. Actually, the boxes for my dolls are in storage, I can't imagine putting my dolls back in their boxes.
And no, I don't have anything against those who do put theirs back in the boxes at night. I know other might have a good reason to do so, such as pets or kids.

    6. I tend not to over think about this too much.
In fact,I keep mine in a box almost at all times. [except when having photoshoots or what not] I would certainly like to display it but since I value it,I prefer keeping it safe in the box, doesn't get dusty too. As I have noticed, some prefer to display them and that's fine too,to everyone their own.

    7. I keep my dolls out all the time, they've never gone back into their box since I got them except if I bring one with me to a meet up a long distance away. My little dolls hang out on my bookshelf and Nova mostly stays in the main living area so I can see her whenever I'm home and just hanging out.<br>I definitely don't hold anything against anyone who keeps their dolls in their boxes at night or any other time for that matter. It never even occurred to me to be upset about it since it's your property and you can do whatever you like with it. Although it seems like a hassle to put them away each and every night. It would be like a chore for me!

    8. Personally, I would love to keep them out at night, or while I'm at work. But I have cats who like to get into everything, and knock things over to sit there instead. During the day I stay vigilant to make sure they don't go anywhere near my dolls, but night time is a whole other story. But they are just as much a part of my family as my dolls.

And the extra safety of their boxes helps me sleep better at night, knowing they are safe and sound sleeping the night away as well.

    9. Dont bother with boxes...I have 17, to put them all away every day would be just silly, and to keep them in their boxes would result in not getting played with. Personally I just find it over paranoia to put them back in their box unless necessary, its like saying someone needs to go back to their jail cell at night >_>;

    10. Nope. The only time they have ever been back in their boxes was when I had to move a few of them and travel with them. Other wise they are always sitting in my room (Although I do cover them up during the day sometimes if I'm not around). The boxes are either in storage or are sitting under my bed filled with their doll clothes.

    11. Right now, mine and my partner's dolls are being kept in their boxes whenever we aren't playing with them or giving them attention. We want to get a glass cabinet to keep them in soon (because we have cats that love to eat wigs and knock expensive things over so we can't have them out in the open), though. But when that happens the cabinet MUST stay behind the bedroom door so they won't be in my field of vision at night. Lol

    12. No, I have a showcase and I pace them in there. The only ones I keep in the box are my unfinished dolls. I love to display my dolls and look at them all the time.

I do not have a problem with people who choose to keep them in the box. I have not heard of anyone who does but I have no problem if you do.

    13. I made a make shift bed out of the protective cushioned covers that come with my doll.

    14. I used to believe that BJD dolls were scary and all before I started to collect them lol you know the kind of myth that these dolls would become alive at night and do bad things to you blah blah blah..My friend introduced them to me in a much better manner so could find out how cute and adorable and harmless they are XD
I always keep them outside standing at a corner of my bed so I can always have them by my side and I sleep with them :) They are too cute for me to be kept in a dark little box!

    15. Mine stay out. If I wasn't at my own house, I might keep them in their temporary placement such as their travel bag, but at home they're out...except for the lone head I have, he stays in his box! I think if people want to keep their dolls in their boxes, for whatever reason is fine with me.

    16. Mine stay in their boxes for now when I'm not around - that's not because of me or the dolls, but... kittehs! Especially the black one, he's a weapon of mass destruction. Eventually I intend to keep them behind glass when I'm not around to protect them. Maybe make them a little bed inside, but safety definitely comes first :)

    17. I live in a dormitory so I need to put stuff away in boxes. Well, one wall of my room is all lined with doll stuff, neatly packed in boxes and drawers. I used to leave my big boy on my bed but when the second big boy came, I left them on the floor with a blanket covering them to protect against light and dust. Recently, I found a 80cm box that was wide enough to fit 2 big boys so that's where they're sleeping right now. I throw my jacket and clothes on those boxes all the time, very convenient. Like I said, I have limited space.

I'm sure when I move back home, I can find some place to display them since I have a floor all to myself. Space will not be the problem then.

    18. As someone who used to have a severe crippling phobia of dolls as a child(And still has a couple episodes from time to time), I understand not wanting them to be out in view at night. I personally don't put my dolls in boxes at night though. I just have a doll shelf put up waaaayyyy on the other side of my room away from my bed. Not that I think they'll do anything, but considering the size of my room(it's an older house with a low, uneven ceiling) I don't really want the shelf near my bed for fear that I'll bump it and be rudely awakened by an avalanche of dolls.
I'm over my fears enough that I can stand having them out on their shelf at night, though I admit for a while I did try my best to position them so they weren't looking in my direction while I was trying to sleep. :sweat

    19. I would feel weird and wrong if they were in a box at all. I keep them out direct sun and let them sit around in peace.

    20. I did something peculiar with my first BJD. I am not a fan of staring at dolls at night either but I decided to let my first BJD lay in her sleeping bag like thing right next to me. So every morning I would wake up to her beautiful face and at night she would be the last face I saw at night. I got use to her being around. Eventually I had to move her once I realized that the sun shines directly on my bed during the day. Now she and another BJD share a shelf in my closet until I can create better accommodations for her and the other BJDs.
