Do you keep your doll in his/her box at night?

Nov 27, 2011

    1. I'd be worried about the sealant yellowing if I had my doll in direct sunlight all the time

    2. No ... the dolls don't go in boxes at night. However, all my resin dolls are in one spare bedroom with the door closed to keep them safe from the cats knocking them over. But ... I'd like to imagine if my dolls did come alive at night, we would be good friends. :) I understand the phobia and the nightmares though. For me, it's clowns. I'll tell you, if I had a clown doll, that thing would be boxed, glued closed, and put in the basement at night for sure. :o

    3. I put my doll back in her box every night, kind of just to tuck her in but also to keep her from getting dusty. I want to make some pajamas, a little pillow and a blanket for her to make it look like an actual bed

    4. Yes. I have had the fear of god regarding exposure to sunlight put in me, so I usually store 'em in a box or all wrapped up. OTL

Hell, when I haven't finished body blushing eve, I keep him unstrung.

    5. When I get my dolly I think I'll let him sleep in his own box at night, he'll get a pillow and a blanket too. (Thinner blanket in spring/summer.) :)

    6. My doll sleeps in the room and bed i spent the summer making her. Then in the morning first thing i see her pretty little face! I store her clothes and bits in her box anyways.

    7. I keep only floating heads and option parts in boxes, not my complete doll :)

    8. I keep my dolls displayed throughout my room, one even on my nightstand. :) I dunno I really like having them around me though the night, plus their boxes live in my closet. :3

    9. Yes

Do you have anything against people who put their dolls in their boxes at night?

Nah, its what they want to do. Maybe they have destructive pets or children who are too grabby or some other reason. I myself keep my room door closed so no one goes in and then at night my cats normally don't sleep with me due to them ruining my carpet with claws. They never once played are pawed my dolls though.

I like keeping my dolls out to see them all the time .

    10. When I get my doll I will keep him in his box at night. My boyfriend tells me they give him nightmares and I haven't even gotten the doll yet. So yeah, he will go in his box every night for my boyfriend's sake.

    11. Yes, I mostly have my doll in her box at night, for protective reasons. In the box she can't really get hurt in any way (tipping over and cracking, gliding down from the table, and whatnot). And I've read that dolls turn yellow slower the more time they spend away from natural light.
The only time I let her sit "out" at night is when I'm so engrossed in sewing stuff for her/trying something on her that it just means more work to put her away for the night. But then I always make sure that she's placed in a way that she can't get hurt.

I don't have any problem sleeping while she's out of the box. But then again, she's in the living room, I'm in the bedroom, so I can't see her. Not that I think it makes any difference. I've never been scared of dolls and clowns and stuff like that :)

    12. They stay in their boxes at night mostly because I don't have a proper shelf to store them on (so I worry about them falling), and god forbid my cat finds his way into my room and messes with them.

    13. Last night was my first with a doll in the house. :) When it came time to go to bed I had to sit and deliberate about what to do... Originally I had planned for my doll(s) to be on a shelf in my living room. I have two cats but they are incredibly lazy and the shelf is so high and so deep there's no way they'd ever dislodge them. Buuuuut when it actually came time for me to put him on the shelf (I'd had him near me at the computer all day while I was working) I couldn't bring myself to leave him downstairs all alone. I thought about putting him in his box, that seemed a little better than the shelf but still not quite right. So I ended up tucking him into the sleeping bag he arrived in and taking him upstairs with me!

I can understand why people (for any reason) would want to put them into their boxes at night! It seems a pretty logical and safe thing to do!

    14. More than likely I will be keeping mine in the box at night. I live in a studio apartment and I have a destructo parrot who wants to rip the house and everything in it to shreds and also poop on everything. She is fully flighted as well and zooms around the house at 100km/hr.

I would be taking a ridiculous chance to leave my doll out. I MAY sit her in the closet but most likely it will be into the box when I'm not around to protect her.

    15. My doll still hasn't arrived, but after reading some of these.. I was thinking of making her a little apartment on one of my shelves (as a child, I did that with my favourite teddy bear. She had a bed, and a rug, a painting, a plant.. lmao), but I'm older now, and unlike my childhood, I have cats sharing my room with me now. Suddenly I'm paranoid that they might knock her over sooo.. box it is.

    16. I only take my dollies out of their boxes when: I feel like taking some pics of them with their props, (only happens when I catch some time after work, family, some weekends ETCs., the rest of the time they are darkly hidden from everyone :)

    17. I just leave my dolls out. I don't have a ton of them and what's the point in making them a room if they can't enjoy it all the time. I keep the boxes just in case I decide to sell one, but otherwise I don't even use them.

    18. If you have nightmares at night when your doll is out, it's totally understandable why you would pack her at night! As much as anything, it's probably good to do that, as it also stops dust from collecting on the doll.

Personally, I also own china dolls, and don't really have anything to box them in anyway, so they're always left out at night.

My ABJD hasn't arrived yet, but I'd be more inclined to leave her in the box at daytime, or at least put her in a shaded area, and then let her move around in night as I am super paranoid about yellowing.

I have nothing against people that put their BJD's away at night! It's all just personal preference.

    19. Weirdly enough, like having a cat around - I feel safer sleeping when my dolls are around. I guess it helps give the illusion that I'm not alone in the room.

I usually have at least two of them sitting on my night stand but you can find the others scattered around the house, lounging on furniture.

    20. They're all in their boxes in a closet unless I am playing with them. I have cats and a boyfriend with a mild phobia of dolls so it's really for the best.. XD
