Do you keep your doll in his/her box at night?

Nov 27, 2011

    1. I'm definitely planning to keep my dolls in their boxes when they arrive. Not because I have a phobia- at all, but because my room has very limited space and I would have nowhere to display them. Not to mention, I'm super paranoid about sunlight and wouldn't want them to fall either (it's very probably that I could bump them and send them sailing to the group, my room is super cramped). So unless I'm photographing them or 'playing' with them for a while, I imagine they'll stay in the boxes. In the past, I had a cabinet beside my bed with a wooden door and my doll slept in a makeshift bed there ;).

    2. I always keep my doll in her box because I am so afraid of something happening to her. I undress her, take her wig off, wrap her in bubble wrap, and place her safely in the box with her face protector on. I know it seems over the top, but I don't take her out much anymore so it isn't that much of a trouble. I could see how this would be completely unrealistic to people with multiple dolls or have them out everyday. I just have such a fear that she will fall over or something will spill on her. I also hide her from my family because they aren't that supportive. I hope that one day I can have a shelf to display my dolls on though, as long as it is safe haha.

    3. I do not keep my dolls in the box at night...or hardly ever. I know it is safer and better for the resin, but part of my enjoyment of doll collecting is being able to look at them and enjoy them. When they are not on display they are usually hanging out around the sewing machine waiting for me to make new clothes.

    4. I keep my dolls sitting on a shelf in my bedroom whenever I'm not fussing over them. I'm very disorganized so it's easier to give them a defined spot. Besides it be extra work to find room for the boxes as well as move them in and out from the box everyday.

    5. I understand not liking having dolls staring at you, but I have gotten used to it after some time of doll collecting. Now I like to have them out and about where I can see them, though I will leave the expensive ones in my bedroom, where the animals are not allowed without my presence.

    6. I am working on a dolly cubby or place I can keep them when I'm not playing with them. I've had some statues and a porcelain doll in my room forever, so (thankfully) having a doll in the open is cool for me. I also try not to keep too many boxes as it takes up a lot of room.

    7. As for now my dolls are just sitting on a shelf in my bedroom but i'm thinking about moving them to something more suitable like glass-case where i can admire them but they would be somehow protected from dust etc. Also i have bad habbit of sleeping with my eyes open and sometimes i have nightmares mostly caused by it, so i would like to avoid having additional doll guest in this kind of "sweet dreams"....

    8. no... because I have the doll cabinet.. but a lot of friends of mine do that.

    9. Juliette just tends to stand in her doll stand on the desk across from my bed. I have never had much of a problem with the dark. So she sits there looking pretty. Also when I get the rest of my dolls I know it will be too much of a hassle to put them away every night.

    10. Nah, that's too much of a chore for me. My room doesn't have much sunlight shining in so that's good! Aside from that, I really enjoy seeing my dolls sit around my room

    11. I have been leaving him out, regardless of whether its day or night..
Cuz my room is pretty dark so to speak..

But recently I heard from my friends that any form of light causes the resin to yellow, to which I am like what?! >.<
So I am currently contemplating putting him back into his box to sleep...

But I can't bear to do so... >x<

      Ahhhhh~~~ TT.TT

    12. I don't keep my girl in her box, she has her own pretty chair to sit on in my "doll-room" :)

    13. I kept them in a special closet for them~

    14. I've had my first three dolls for about a month now. When they first arrived I was so paranoid about them breaking I would wrap them up in their silk blankets and put them to bed in their boxes. That lasted for about a week. They now have a china cabinet they sleep in and I only put them in there because I have cats that like to knock over anything that isn't bolted down otherwise I would leave them out. However I don't think I could have them in the bedroom at night while I slept. I have an irrational fear of reflective surfaces and their glass eyes in the dark fall into that catagory.

    15. Elias stays out, in his little alcove in my tatami room. Partially because he doesn't like to be put away in confined spaces, and partially just because I don't have his box anymore (though I do have a carrier I could put him in). Thankfully, the alcove is set back in the wall in such a way that sunlight can't really hit it, so he's pretty well protected from that. Sometimes he stays on the dresser in my room overnight, but that's mainly just if one of us is feeling particularly lonely.

It's funny because I'm also someone who had an intense fear of dolls as a child... but, I feel like BJDs have cured me of that? I just love them so much, so while I'm still not entirely comfortable with other types of dolls, I'm not afraid of BJDs at all, even in the dark. Lately I have been having nightmares about a friend's doll for some reason, though... :( It still doesn't keep me from leaving Elias out at night.

Of course, I don't judge people at all for putting their dolls away in their boxes at night--whatever floats your boat! :)

    16. I enjoy my dolls lots but, they can be a bit creepy when they're just sitting on a shelf and staring ^^; Thus, they're in their boxes most of the time, especially at night!

    17. My dolls have a big bed that I made, where they all sit together ^.^

    18. I keep my dolls in their boxes, and the floating heads in a special cabinet, because I don't want them to be damaged somehow or exposed to sunlight while I'm asleep. I tend to sleep late, so if they were left out when the sun came up I might not notice before they got exposed to too much. I would love to hold them like I do my stuffed animals but it just isn't practical for me.

    19. I suffer from frequent mild night terrors which cause paranoia and anxiety while I'm trying to fall asleep, and sometimes my brain will become hyper-aware of where my dolls are in the room, but it's usually pretty easy to get a grip on because I know that both consciously and subconsciously I have absolutely no fear of dolls and it's just the paranoia, so it doesn't last... It's getting better the more often I have them out, and when I'm awake my dolls are super therapeutic so I like having them out enough to deal with it at night.

    20. When im at my dorm(As i live at college) i dont like having them in their boxes. I store the boxes under my bed or something and have my two dolls on my computer tower or something. (Sometimes Rene sits by my computer monitor) since thats the first place i go when i wake up.

However when im at my home town i keep my babies in their boxes at night. (with the top open but still) just because i have a dog who LOVES to chew things.
EVEN though i shut the dorm the puppy can open it and comes inside...so its just an extra safety thing.
