Do you keep your doll in his/her box at night?

Nov 27, 2011

    1. It might be a little bit out of topic. but I heard that it's acutally better for your dolls to keep them in their boxes. Especially if your doll is old. Because urethane can be fade when it is exposed by sun for a long time. I prefer to put them in a box when I'm not playing with them.

    2. I'm way too lazy to do anything like that. All my dolls live on their respective shelves. Unless they've been relegated to the drawer cos some other doll got their display spot...

    3. I keep mine on a little bench in their little corner of my room. I do, however, hide them when annoying, misbehaved children decide that my room is their playroom for the day.

    4. As a child I was very afraid of dolls that had teeth and lived in the attic. My dolls live in thier boxes not because I am scared but I prefer to keep them away from the constant sun and my cats. This way i know they are always safe!

    5. i always keep my girls on their box after playing and taking pictures of them to prevent from dust, and yellowing..in this way like carmen171 said they are safe from the tings that will harm them :)

    6. My boy lays on my bedside table, in his own bed. I don't like stuffing him away at any point, even at night.

    7. Yes!
I have six animals and they like to knock things over and gnaw on stuff from time to time (My one cat ate barbies... o3o) SO I do it for his protection ♥

    8. I Used to dewig them, undress them and put them back other boxes after each play session, but it was making me to sad and upset to each time have to remove their personality. Plus I was missing not seeing them in the room, I didn't see the point to spend all that money on sth I couldn't see. So now they are fully dressed with their wig on and on display and I love looking at them :0)

    9. I love leaving my dolls where I can see them. I'm not really worried about sun exposure, because I hate having my windows open, then my neighbors can see me. So all my windows have both blinds and curtains.

    10. I keep my doll out on the shelf majority of the time. I've kept his box in case I need to transport him (moving, etc) but otherwise he is going to be sitting on display :] At least until I get my hands on my new doll, in which case I might have to rotate on who is sitting out and who is 'boxed' until I've moved back into my apartment (Bah, small temporary living spaces.)

    11. Nope. They sit on my bed when I'm at home and on a book shelf when I'm at college.

    12. I never put them inside the box unless it is something that really need to put them in the box.. preventing them from scaring people.
I put them on top of the cupboard.. so they are not staring at me sleeping but staring at the wall xD
I don't really care about why people put their doll inside the box.. they have their own personal reason ^^

    13. I used to, but how they just sit around in my closet. lol

    14. Why would I put them into boxes? Night is the only time of the day when they walk aournd without anyone creeping out ;)
Just kidding. I hardly ever put them into boxes. I think when you have something pretty, you should show it to the people.

    15. My boy lies in his box on top of the cushions he was shipped in at night-all tucked in. It's his bed.^.^ I never pack him away in the box though, he just rests in it.:)

    16. Thankfully ABJDs (well, most of them) don't creep me out. It's porcelain dolls that do me in.

I can't bear to put my dolls in their boxes! I feel awful about it and I don't know why. Unfortunately, I have cats, and one of them likes to get into everything and cause as much trouble as possible! At first I was really worried about leaving my boy out, but Yuugi, the trouble-maker, has left him alone completely. My girl, at night, I'll tuck her into her box, but I won't put the lid on it. I just don't have a stand for her like I do for my boy (who's quite a bit taller than she is, and his stand is almost too big for him). My only problem is that I don't want the cats to think she's a toy because she has lots of lace and ribbons. I also keep them in the living room, not in the bedroom.

I actually have trouble putting them in a carrying case for when I go to meets. I just always feel the need to see them and not "hide them away". Unfortunately, the problem with keeping them out 24/7 is that there's lots of windows... and windows let in sun! Even with the blinds shut, sun gets in. I found the only place in the living room that doesn't get sunlight and put my boy's stand there. My girl, well, I actually just got her yesterday, but I've rigged up some cloth over certain parts of the blinds to keep the sun out completely, and let her sit in a doll chair there. She's completely white-skinned, so I'm extra careful with her.

My fiancee usually puts her dolls away in their boxes/cases for the night or when she's not taking photos.

    17. Boxes are a fine place to store your dolls whenever you want to keep them safe. Any time of the day/month/whatever, whatever works for you and your house.

But no, I have 34 dolls, I don't have the time to box/unbox them in a WEEK. ^^ I don't box at night, but I cover them during the day. My dolls all live on shelves behind drapes, which protect them from the sun & dust during daylight hours, when I'm away at work and am not home to enjoy them anyway. I work some mad long hours. When I come home at night, THEN I get to raise the drapes and groove on the collection. <3

Of course, what with those mad long workdays + then all the everyday grownup chores that need to be done before I can relax, I don't get much free evening time before conking out for the night.... so sometimes the drapes stay down, anyway. Weekdays don't usually contain free dolly-playtime. Weekends are when I finally get to be looking at the lads all the time. Gaah, it sucks to have to work! - But it keeps me in doll money, so there we are. Bring it on.

... If those dolls DO walk around at night, I'm pretty sure they just get up and switch positions on the sofas and share bong-hits with each other. It's a small apartment, they can't go too far. :XD:

    18. I put my girls to bed facing away from me. To me, it looks like they're sleeping that way:). Since Alwyn has a bed in her wooden case, I sometimes keep her in there at night. I had a close call years ago when one of my cats started nuzzling her hand and then tried to bite it. I do not want a repeat of that incident while I'm sleeping. My sister's doll on the other hand stays in her box in the closet unless she's being photographed.

I have nothing against people who put their dolls in their boxes at night. It's a personal preference. I like to see my girls on display, so I leave them out overnight but I did get startled a few times when I had them one a shelf by my head. Light reflecting off of glass eyes is not the most welcoming sight first thing in the morning :shudder

    19. Yes! I keep my dolls in the box at night. If I sleep, I think they have to sleep too!

    20. My dolls are in their cabinet / boxes day and night whenever I don't do anything with them to prevent early yellowing and dust getting to them. But I wouldn't be creeped out with them being out at night.
In fact, my newest head has been sitting on my bed, on my spare pillow, the last night because I wanted to put it on its body and do some restringing before I went to sleep, but forgot about it in the end.
The only reaction I had in the morning was "Ha, what are you doing here? Oh right."
