1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you like/care for your cheaper dolls less than your expensive ones?

Dec 28, 2015

    1. I care for all my dolls equally. I put a fair amount of time and effort in to giving them each their own individual look. That may mean cycling through wigs or eyes until I find the right pair for any given doll. I don't skimp on that process for any of my dolls.

However...I do play with my more expensive dolls more often than my cheaper ones. I'm not really sure why, though. There could be several factors contributing to that.

    2. Nope, I love all of my brood. I don't spend as much time with some of them as others because their size is awkward and/ or they need a bit of a makeover (my SDs and Puki tend to get ignored in favour of my MSDs and Minis).

    3. I think that I treat with my favorite doll worst of all. He always sits near me, I don't hide him from the sun, take to the kitchen, sometimes he sits in the mess on my Desk, my cat sniffs him. I don't treat so casually with any doll, I like him so much that I can't think of the precautions. It's all about Phonolus and my answer is NO (he costs like 2 dolls in my collection).

    4. I care for all my dolls the same, no matter the price.
I may play with the newer ones more when they get to me but after a while I spend my time equally again. Though I might have a favorite among them when my tiny 1/12 doll arrives. She's so cute and I'll be able to take her everywhere with me - unlike my DD girls.

    5. Nope. I got them all because like them, some just took more saving to bring home.

    6. My cheapest doll is actually one of my favorites, but to be honest I do care her less compare to how I treat my more expensive dolls such as I won't wear gloves and won't be checking her for stains anxiously when I play with her.

    7. Price isn't a factor for me in and of itself, although I've found that when I was interested in painting dolls, I spent more time experimenting with my cheaper dolls, and now when I'm more interested in just having a few on display it's the more expensive ones that are more central.

That's not about the price itself though - it's more reflection of the fact that I bought my lowest cost dolls when I had customization in mind and on the flip side that my more expensive dolls also happen to have come with the most elaborate (and therefore display-ready) outfits.

    8. I take care of my dolls all the same. I see their characters not their price tags. I do have a favorite, he was my first and was a very special gift. But the others have equal time with me and the same amount of attention to details.

    9. Heh, so I pretty much treat all of my dolls the same way. I wouldn't say I'm abusive to them, but I'm not white-gloved precious with them either.

Hrmmm....I just looked down to see that my dog is sitting on my favorite girl, Mathilde (DC Christina)...<shrug> that's kinda where they all go when I'm working in my shop. My dolls are all used as models/muses of artwork I make to sell. Maybe it would be different if I didn't also use them as utilities.

      Doh! That's a chunky chihuahua!

    10. I care about cheaper dolls as much as the expensive ones. The cheaper ones are usually just smaller size but they are still adorable and are made with love and care.
