1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

    1. Not only do I NOT like the smell of resin, this is another reason for me not to like it!

    2. I don't like the smell of my Unoa (Lusis & chibi) which is too strong, but my other doll don't have resin smell anymore ^^

    3. I find the smell very offensive and try not to breath too deaply. I do love the way my dolls smell once they have aired out because they smell like candles or incense and the perfume and soap I have in my room. It is a very comforting smell to me but no, I really don't like the smell of the new resin.

    4. I love that smell. >_> Even if I get lung cancer, I will have happily died because I will have gotten to smell resin. <3

    5. I don't like it. It burns my nostrils and throat, so I have to take a major breather and let any new lads or ladies sit somewhere they can de-odorize before I can play with them without irritation. Thankfully it doesn't take too long at all. (Fun fact: I can now pinpoint the smell of resin when others can't in situations that have nothing to do with dolls since starting the hobby. It's like I've developed a super-sensitive resin sense or something...)

    6. No! I didn't realize how much I dislike it until recently. I bought a glass display case for some of my dolls, and when I opened it for the first time, the smell was horrific. There were 13 dolls in it at the time, and the combined smell was so strong that I felt nauseous.

    7. I haven't gotten tons of exposure to the smell of resin, but it didn't put me off too badly. I was surprised at how strong the scent was when opening my new doll, but I didn't feel the need to plug my nose or anything.

Would I want my home to smell like resin all the time? Well, no. But I didn't mind a brief encounter with it.

    8. I like the 'new doll' smell just like I love the 'new book' smell and the 'new video game' smell. I'm not sure if they really smell good or if I just associate them with good things, though.

    9. I like the smell when you first open the box, though I do know it isn't really that safe to heavily breathe it in. I don't keep my dolls in their boxes or behind glass, and the smell seems to fade after the initial box opening.

    10. I enjoy the smell, it takes me back to happy times in design studio at college.

    11. I feel like a freak, I've honestly never noticed a resin smell. ._.

    12. Maybe my doll is just different, but she never had a "new doll smell" or any other kind of smell.

    13. When I would open up my individual dolls and I'd smell that smell and it was wonderful. It meant that there was a new doll here and we were going to have so much fun! It was the smell of all the hard work I'd put into saving for the doll, all the time I spent waiting, and all the excitement of getting something I wanted so much.

Opening an order of 60 dolls is entirely different. :| Don't get me wrong, it's super exciting. I actually really enjoy packing orders to ship out... but the smell. 60 dolls packs a wallop. I keep my stock in big plastic containers that are sealed and it about knocks me out when I open the boxes. XD

    14. That was actually one of the first thoughts when I got my first doll, that I liked how it smelled... Haha.

    15. Quetz, from my experience the IH dolls hardly smell at all. The strongest smell among all my dolls are probably the Fairyland ones followed by Soom. And as Batchix noted, the smell is stronger in larger pieces of resin, like in SD sized dolls.

    16. Honestly, I wish they'd have a perfume, or scent or something, that you could spray on your dolls to make them smells 'refreshed' as far as new resin smell goes. Think 'new car scent' for cars. 'new resin smell' for BJD!

I'd love that, even though it would probably shorten all of our life spans by 10 years or something from toxicity. @w@

    17. I really dislike resin fumes or any kind of toxic smell... o.O
But since they are not kept in their boxes after their arrival, I don't notice it much.

    18. I like the smell because it reminds me of my dolls, but I hate the toxicness of it, you know? I find if I give them a good wash out of the box, the leftover resin dust/ mold release gets washed out and I'm left with a brand new, clean dolly that doesn't scare me, haha.

    19. Actually, Angell Studio adds a scent/ perfume to the resin and you can choose what scent it is!

    20. So far I have only owned DOD dolls, but i'm actually attracted to smell of new doll. Not because it means new doll but simply the smell. I have had to mod a boy that lost his aroma. As soon as I started sanding his belly, that smell was as strong as if he was brand new. =D
