It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. 1. I do love the smell, but I definitely think it's because I associate it with BJDs. I love the smell of freshly-opened booster packs (whether they be Magic or Pokemon) for roughly the same reason XD

Although, I don't enjoy it when it is overwhelmingly strong. I tend to air my dolls/parts out occasionally just so the resin smell doesn't get too strong with them cooped up in their boxes.

    2. I agree XD

    3. I was kind of embarrassed about it until I saw some of the responses in this thread and the poll results, but yes I love the smell of resin. I remember back when I was selling one of my first BJDs, a resin Goodreau, and someone asked me if she had any kind of odor. I thought that was such a bizarre question, why would she smell bad? I had told her that she has a "new plastic" smell, I personally liked it and wouldn't consider it an odor.

I am primarily an artbook collector and there is nothing I love more than the smell of a fresh, hot-off-the-press artbook! I suppose I just love that "new" smell. Someone mentioned gasoline - also love it.

When I received an alternate chest size for my Doll-Love Evol, it was cast so quickly that it had a lot of excess resin in her arm holes. Despite my liking for the smell, I understand that resin is toxic so I was very careful when I sanded them down.

    4. To be frank, I like it A LOTTTTTT:XD:
I think it is becuz (in psychological term) it associates with the good thing of a new doll arriving home haha
And it reminds me the first time I receive my BJD too, it does bring back memories;)
Don't forget that it is only BJDs that will have this new resin smell, I do think it makes the experience of receiving a doll even more special:chocoberry

    5. Maybe it's an aquired taste? XD;; I just find it gross and chemical-y

There was at least one company at one point that offered your choice of scent on the dolls. I don't know it was mixed in or just sprayed on before leaving the factory. Kind of weird, but does anyone remember who offered that?

    6. Yes, it was Angell Studio. They call it "perfume service". They used to offer like 6 different types of perfumes for your doll, however nowadays they only offer two different types.

It's easy to perfume your doll yourself though: just spray a tissue paper with your favorite perfume, let it dry until it isn't wet from the spray anymore and then stuff it into your doll's body. ;)

    7. Yes I enjoy the smell or resin, very much so. Lately when I go in my room it greets me with a mild scent of new doll smell, since I have a few blank dolls in there, and its cramped. I was actually disappointed with my last box opening, almost no resin smell. :(

I have found that the smell never really goes away though. When I cleaned up an older doll after it was all scrubbed down It still had a little bit of that ol' scent.

I don't think I would like perfumed dolls though, perfume actually bother my nose XD

    8. I know resin isn't good to breathe in. I know if you can smell something, it's likely you're breathing that something into your lungs.

SO... I'm indifferent on the smell of resin. I just try not to sniff it at all!

    9. I actually don't like the smell of brand new anything unless it's first time cleaned laundry, my nose is pretty sensitive, and the 'new' scent burns my nose and leaves it burning for a few hours. So no, I dislike the smell of new resin xD

    10. AHHH! Yes! Them. Thanks!

    11. THIS. I do not like the smell of resin and if a new doll smells too resin-y I giver her an immediate BATH. I do mods, I don't need to inhale more resin dust than I might have by accident.

    12. I would have been indifferent until I opened my last doll a few weeks ago and the smell was so strong it made me wheeze and cough well into the next day. That can't be good for you. As much as I love getting a new doll, I don't see how I could associate that as a good thing. None of my other dolls smelled like that, though, and I wouldn't say that any of them really have a smell now, but I've never thought to sniff them, either. lol

    13. haha, i actually like the scent!

    14. I have not received my first doll bought from a company, so i have yet to find out; I'm excited!!! :)

    15. The smell of a new doll is something to hold onto forever. :aheartbea

    16. For me, no. I dislike the smell. Too chemically for me and I get headaches from it. The past dolls I've owned always had that strong smell no matter how long I've kept them out of the box.
This sounds like a cute idea. One day I'll try this but I love and addicted to haribos so much that I know I will just eat them!

    17. I must confess, I love the smell of resin!!!! One of the best things of my box openings!
Not rare I caught myself sniffing my dolls skins... hehe  Seriously, I'm addicted!

    18. I didn't think I would before I got a doll but it turns out I do :) it might be because I associate it with a new doll now!

    19. resin smell like the smell of exotic perfumes =)

    20. I'm somewhat indifferent, leaning towards enjoying it...

Obviously, as has been pointed out before, if your doll smells SUPER resin-y and there's resin dust on the body or anything like that, you really need to go wash it off let it air out and not breathe too close to the doll because it's not good to be breathing in resin... But that unavoidable first whiff of it when first opening them is nice, kinda adds to the excitement to have that "new doll smell."
