Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Do you like the smell of resin?

Jul 19, 2014

    1. Not going to lie, I just had to grab my doll's leg and sniff his foot.

I was not previously aware that resin had a smell... but indeed it does. I think I am indifferent to it though.

    2. Love the smell of new resin...and old resin for that matter. But I, like others that have commented, enjoy chemical smells very much. I have always attributed it to the fact that I began working in a manufacturing facility when I was just 18 or over 40 years ago. The air was always full of toulene, and paint fumes, oils, and weird aerosols. It just became part of the background of my life. I love my job so maybe that is why it reminds me of a comfortable place. One of my all time favorite scents is chlorine bleach with the scent of Gain laundry detergent and rubbing alcohol next. Hate perfume and sweetish scents. Resin scent fits right into my comfort zone.

    3. Now I'm curious! I don't have my doll yet, and she's older so I don't know if there will still be much of a smell. However, I too appreciate certain chemical smells, so I wonder if I'll like the smell of resin also.

    4. I somewhat like it since it actually smell good if is good resin.

    5. No, it isn't good to be smelling either. In general I try to avoid chemical smells anyway. Even if the scent isn't something i dislike, the mental rejection is enough to keep me uninterested. I guess Im actually kind of afraid of it.

    6. I actually enjoy the smell of resin, I'm sure thats probably not the healthiest thing to smell resin but what can you do *shrugs*.

    7. N O P E. I work on a lot of resin garage kits, and the smell frankly makes me nauseous. I do like other chemical smells though, like sharpie and that smell from the dryer.

    8. I kinda like it because it somehow has a soothing effect on me.

    9. I really like how it smells. I generally love the smell of some chemicals like markers, rubbing alcohol, whiteouts , acetone, gasoline and other things that smell like them. I know it's really bad and try to not sniff them on purpose. (even though sometimes I really want to!)

    10. I love the smell of fresh resin! Is that bad?

    11. I actually do like the smell of resin! I was really curious to know how it smelt after watching box openings before I got my first doll because everyone reacted to it so differently.

    12. I never knew it even had an odor - not to mention it could be dangerous, if the post on the first page is anything to go off of. Oh my.

    13. I do like the smell of resin as long as it is not too strong. One doll arrived with such a strong smell I had to put her in a spare room with the windows open & fans blowing to air her out for a few days! Another doll related smell I like is vinyl. I like it more than resin so I am always excited to add a new Dollfie Dream to my collection :)

    14. Nope. When I get a new doll straight from the factory they actually need a cooldown period out of their box somewhere else in the house other than my room. Resin smell activates my asthma plugging my nose and making me miserable. Which sucks when I just want them to join the rest of the crew.

    15. YES! Straight out of the box, fresh resin. Yes indeed I do.

    16. Yup, because I associate it with new dolls :XD: To me it's the same as 'new card smell' (which is A Thing in TCG hobbies like Magic and Pokemon), or the smell of hobby paint (which I associate with new Warhammer figures!)

    17. I've only had one doll give me a strong wave of resin-smell, and I kinda liked it. I don't really smell it otherwise, but I guess I'm indifferent to it.

    18. Yes, this. It definitely reminds me of the "new card smell" and also out-of-the-box plastic that some figures have when you first open the box :D

    19. I love the smell of resin. I didn't think I would but I actually really do.
