Do you like the smell of resin?

Jul 19, 2014

1. Mmm...I do like the smell of resin, too. :D

2. I don't even notice the smell or think about it, just only when opening a brand new doll :)

3. I don't like it... but I love having my dolls in my arms <3

4. For some reason, I really, really like the smell of a new doll fresh out of the box.
Too bad it doesn't last too long, or least, it hasn't lasted that long with the two dolls I've gotten. ;__;

5. I could not believe how strong the smell was from my DD!
I get sensitive to really strong smells...it burns my nose and throat. She had that effect on me. After she aired out a bit I really enjoyed it. She smelled good for a month!

6. New doll smell is The Best!!! I keep them in the boxes so I can sniff them until it fades.....in case u r wondering...my labs at MD were fine last time. I sure hope that resin sniffing isn't outlawed...LOL!!

7. I love it! My akagidoll boy came with a sort of carrying case and it smells exactly like he does, when I take him home on the train with me I can rest my head on the case because its so soft and smell the awesome resin smell it has!

8. I despise the odor; they give me headaches. The first thing I do-unless they're wearing a faceup-is to give my dolls a nice bubble bath the day they arrive at my doorstep.

9. I hate the smell of new resin personally. Luckily I only smell it when opening a new doll and I can stand it until it fades.

10. I (unfortunately) have had a cold since I got my girl, so I have been missing out on knowing if I like the smell or not. I like a lot of strange smells (like scrubbing bubbles, or art stores, and dusty smoky chairs) so I might like it. ^.^

11. Ha yes, I do like the smell of resin. One of the things I like about my dolls is their smell. I have a box that I keep extra doll body parts in...and so it's a super concentrated resin smell when I open it up. And I love it! But I always liked the smell of plastics, different toys had different smells, I was a child of the 80's, and had My Little Ponies, Care Bears, She-Ra dolls, Breyer Horses and Transformers, they all had a distinct smell of their own and just a hint of those smells now brings a wash of happy childhood nostalgia. I think my resin dolls bring the same happy feelings now.

12. I love the smell of resin... but my last two dolls didnt arrive with the heavy smell...
I was rather disappointed by that :(
Still got the spare parts box though *sniff*

13. Oh lord!!!! When I first received my first doll, DOD, i absolutely loved the smell that arose from the box. Its addictive. I ordered 3 directly from the company and loved the smell. I had to mod a neck to make it more masculine and stocky, and shaving it down releases the smell. I ordered from Iplehouse directly, and almost nosedived to see if there was a smell. Needless to say i was almost shocked there was none. I wanted to post the video i made to Youtube, but the darn thing is too large apparently,

14. For me it really depends on the brand. Some are ok but others are too strong for me!

15. I don't like the smell of new resin. It turns my stomach and gives me a headache. *_* Thankfully, since most of my dolls are second-hand, I haven't had to deal with it too much. One of my boy's extra hands still smell strongly of new resin, even though they're a number of months old. That's probably because I keep them in a box though.:|

16. It's kind of strong, but I like the smell because of what I associate it with. Resin smell means dolls, dolls mean happy, therefore resin smell means happy no matter how I cringe when I smell it.
Sorry I'm a science person.

17. Nope! Outgassing smells of any kind make me nervous. For those who say "it's just a smell," remind them that your nose works by molecules entering your body. When urethane resin outgasses, I believe what we are smelling is isocyanate. Please correct me, any chem majors out there. We are surrounded in our everyday lives by objects made with polymeric plastics, and all this stuff is supposed to be harmless when cured.
Anyway, when I get a doll, it stays in an open box in a bedroom that I don't sleep in. If it's been shut in a box for a few days, and I can't smell anything when I open the lid, that's when I consider it fully cured.

Waiting for someone to come up with dolls made of compressed bamboo or hemp fiber, but they would still probably be coated with a plastic sealant.

18. when my girl came to me, i did not smell the resin?... i either think i have a bad nose or the smell just was gone? i have no idea to be honest but i think i would like it. :)

19. I didn't really notice any odd smell when I took my doll out of the box and I haven't really gotten close to him and sniffed him. XD

My sense of smell must be a little off, but I guess I don't mind it? ^^'
