1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you make clothes for your doll?

Sep 17, 2010

    1. I do. I am not all that amazing, but it all works out! So far I've made a couple shirts and a turtleneck. I also made a couple pants too. Now I am trying a jacket.

I take my time on everything, and usually only sew when I am really in the mood for it. I also do everything by hand.

    2. I vary between sewing clothes for the crew and buying clothes. If it's an elaborate outfit then it's bought but if it's just jeans and a t-shirt/wifebeater then it's sewn.

    3. Nope. T_T I can't sew very well... but I do make jewelry!! :3 That's easy to do. String. Beads. There you go. A lot easier than sewing to me...

    4. I like to sew my doll clothes, but I'm not very good. Haha!

    5. I am planning to do so. I want to make beautiful clothes for my dolls. :) So, I can actually make my dream clothes for them.

    6. When I first got my boy, I was so sure I'd be able to make him loads of cool outfits... but I soon learned sewing isn't quite as easy as it looks, LOL. >w>; I'm still practicing and trying, but for now I'll probably just stick with buying all his clothes... ;w; At least until I'm capable of sewing in a semi-straight line... 8D;

    7. Yes, it is much more afforable.

    8. Once I get my sewing machine, I'm definitely going to start making clothes for my dolls and hopefully be able to open an Etsy store or start a commissions thread in the MP. I absolutely love fashion and would love to work on modern casual, gothic and victorian styles as well as cosplay outfits. Can't wait!

    9. I would like to know how to sew clothes for my doll, but I'm no good ... I just draw the clothes! : (

    10. I would love to!
Alas I have neither the skill nor the space or equipment :(

However, when I get my new flat I'll move my mums old sewing machine in and get practising :D

    11. I do. I'm in process wright now.
Outfit from professionals is too expensive, even a simple pants and shirts.

    12. My parents were super cool for my 21st and as well as my first doll they got me a sewing machine, so im slowly learning to make simple clothes in my free time! :)

    13. nope, I commission my friend to do so and buy from others.

    14. Lalette - Have you ever tried to make clothes or is it just not something that interests you?

    15. Costuming was one of my biggest draws into the hobby. I would make clothes for my Barbies as a kid and then I found BJDs... :) being a cosplayer, I love making costumes (of any sort really, be it anime, historical, whimsical, steampunk, ect). So I haunt the remnant bin for inspiration at the fabric store. I've picked up some neat stuff! :D

    16. ive tried to sew some outfits several times but none of them cae out very well!

    17. For a very long time, I wanted to be a fashion or costume designer. I looked at art schools and everything. Then, I realized that the stress from everyday life in high school made me physically ill. How can I be a professional designer if extremely high stress situations make me sick? Then, I got my first doll, and everything was solved. I make clothes for them, not amazingly great ones, but they suffice. I wish I could draw better, then I could send the complicated ones away. But I have fun making things for them, and that's all that matters.

    18. I would if I could sew. My family members and friends do but I never got into it.

    19. Yes, I do, actually most of the clothes that my dolls have are made by me. I would love to have more time to do more outfits for them, but now that I have a job it's difficult, specially cause I prefer to rest or going out with my friends on weekends.

    20. Like most people I have tried sewing for my dolls before. But I never been happy with the quality. My sewing skills are somewhat subpar.
