Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Do you make clothes for your doll?

Sep 17, 2010

    1. I usually make cloth for my dolls. Also loved to buy many fabrics by myself ^-^
I started with knowing nothing only asked from my mom sometimes and after that looking for sewing books.
I find myself having a great time doing dress for my dolls ^o^

    2. I don't have a doll yet, but I already have ideas for clothes to make her. Lately, I've been making cloth dolls, so I'm sure with practice I can make one for mine.

      I used to make clothes for Barbie dolls when I was a kind out of tissues, at first, and paper. They were pretty weird looking. Eventually, I graduated to cloth, and those weren't... completely... horrible. ^^; Now that I'm older, I think I'll be able to do a decent job. C: And since clothing for them is so expensive, and the doll I'm looking into doesn't seem to have many options to begin with, I can learn to make my own clothes. More room for creativity that way anyway, right? ^^;

    3. I used to buy doll clothes from hobby lobby and alter it but its too much of a hassle. I still have some clothes I havent altered yet bc its just such a pain in the butt. those clothes are also too short anyway ( I got the ones for teddy bears too =.=;; meh)

I Sew all the time now. I look at clothes that ppl are wearing during the day and think "I wonder if that would look good on my doll" The only thing I buy for them is shoes and I bought my boy a leather jacket bc 1.) I don't think mine would turn out that great and 2.) it was on sale YAY!

I mostly make my own patterns but every once in a while I like using patterns I find to get a full understanding of how to make certain types of clothing. I got a girl doll not too long ago so now I have boobs as a challenge, gotta shape it differently

    4. I would love to learn how to make doll clothes. I make human sized costumes even though I still have much to learn. Right now I can't really do anything without a pattern to follow. As long as I have a pattern though, I usually do pretty well. I'm so specific about how I want to dress my dolls that it would just be easier if I could make their outfits myself.

    5. I do. I love sewing stuff for them. Not only is it fun, it's cheaper then buying usually. Even so, I love the clothes I've found online and I plan on buying my dolls some more clothes as soon as I have some extra money.

    6. Ziah is super good at sewing doll clothes too. ^^

I have fun sewing doll clothes when I'm bored. I really need to sew more often.

    7. Yes. Buying clothes for them became to expensive (especially with shipping) so I recently started making my own clohes for them. Sewing is really fun too! :)

    8. Yes. All of their clothes are hand-made. It's not so hard as it seems to make clothes for your dolls, we've started with simple T-shirts and pants, and now they're wearing silken shirts and dresses ^^

    9. I've made all of my dolly's clothes :XD: I like the idea of him being COMPLETELY designed by me! Plus it saves a lot of money!!:sweat teehee

    10. I make a lot of clothes for my boys (my MSD boy, though needs more!).
And if they're wearing clothes that aren't made by me, they're borrowed from their lady dolly friends--unisex apparel, of course. And if I end up buying some clothes--it's most likely from a meet/convention.. I call those "special occasions to buy something".

It's harder to find clothes for the Iplehouse SID bodies--so I'm going to make his wardrobe myself, I guess!
The clearance scrap bins at fabric stores are awesome!

    11. I have only made two shirts and one pants. But just because I didn't want to them to be naked. Then I ordered them clothes when I had money. I'm not good at sewing so they weren't pretty at all.

    12. I *have* to sew clothes for my boy because he's Celtic. Not too many shops selling Celtic bjd clothes... So I'm also using my doll as an excuse to finally learn how to use a sewing machine. I have wanted to learn that for a long time, but it's easier to envision making clothes for a doll than for myself (though I do hope to get there eventually).

It's a good thing my boy is Celtic and not a seventeenth-century cavalier, though :).

    13. I TRY. I don't have enough money to purchase clothes so I try doing some but I'm not a great stylist lol! I wish I hd more money, I would never sew clothes gain...

    14. I haven't yet made anything for mine. I just find it hard to gather everything together and get on with things but I really want to make him some things :)

    15. The first dress I made for my doll, and bought one outfit. But really, especially for Puki's, it doesn't take much fabric and sewing/creating little outfits is a lot of fun.

MY weakness is wigs...I really wish I'd seen the reference to Tabloach before I'd bought the wig I did! She has a better selection than the FairyLand site, and fits the personality of my wee girl so much better. And so much cheaper!

    16. I got into BJDs from making clothing for a friend's doll so yeah, I sew for dolls. ^_^ I love to work with them after years of 1/6 dolls. There's so much more room for detail and creative design.

    17. I'm getting back into sewing for my dolls yesh =D
      It's really fun ^ ^
Hand sewing is the best. That's probabaly just me thought since my sewing machine hates me XDD

    18. There are some cheap clothes on sale from dA... However, when I get my doll, I will probably have to make the clothes. I wonder how well that would go. o_O

    19. I make nearly all of my dolls' clothes. I rely heavily on published patterns, because I don't know how to create them myself. This causes a problem when I have a doll whose body doesn't fit the available patterns, like JIDs. Sometimes I take a pattern for SD and reduce it; other times I take a pattern for MSD and alter it to make it fit.

I made one outfit from a pattern in a magazine that didn't fit any of my dolls. After I reworked it to fit a smaller doll, I ended up buying the doll that the pattern was designed for, so I sewed another one for her.

    20. I'm re-learning how to sew, but I just don't have the time with the million other art hobbies I have. :3 I HAVE managed to make some clothes for my dolls so now they're not naked. Well...most of them are not naked, but I haven't finished modding two of them.

I've made pants, a vest, and a simple dress, but I don't have the skill to make the outfits I want to for them yet. So...I might have to buy. :/
