1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you make clothes for your doll?

Sep 17, 2010

    1. I mostly have been buying because as much as it hurts the wallet, the clothes are so cute. but I have a few simple little nighties and dresses I plan on making for my girlie

    2. I sew all of my dolls' clothes, to me it's one of the best parts of this hobby ^_^

    3. I almost only make clothes for my dolls. This was the biggest reason I got into the hobby. I only have 3 outfits I have purchased for them. I'm going to start making shoes for them now. Considering I design shoes for a living you would think I would have done this years ago. Ha, ha.

    4. I've made clothes for both mine and my partner's dolls. I'm a beginner seamster so I do buy things if it's something I really like.

    5. I started sewing for my dolls (non-bjd) to develop more skills for sewing my own clothes. It sort of worked - I do sew for myself on occasion, but I spend a lot of my free time sewing for the army of dolls! In fact, it's gotten worse since I started collecting BJDs, because I see so many gorgeous outfits for them that are out of my price range, but serve as inspiration.

    6. I bought an outfit for my doll so that he doesn't sit around naked, but I am planning to sew stuff for him ^ - ^
      I am super excited!!!

    7. I sew for my BJDs. It's too expensive to buy clothes online. The only thing I do buy is the shoes and wigs. I need to learn how to make wigs. But going back on subject I like sewing for my dollies it gives me experience on drafting patterns for myself! Besides I'm better at sewing for them at a smaller scale then a 1:1 aka human sized scale. There's just something with the finer detail in dolly clothing that I can do better than making it for myself.

    8. You are so lucky! I like sewing but I do it not quete well:sweat

    9. Thanks, but my skills are far from perfect either, even with a lot of practice over the years, I still have a lot to learn! :)

    10. Yes I do.
More so right now since I'm in the process of saving for another doll currently so I don't have as much dollie spending money. Plus I have a wal-mart bag full of fabrics I've pulled from my personal stash to use for things for Calli, so I might as well start using it up.

    11. Do you have thread with your clothes?:3nodding:

    12. You mean, like tumblr or something? not yet, for now I just have a flickr gallery.

    13. I do! Aside from being kind of expensive, my girl is a Resinsoul Yu and her proportions are a bit...different. Too short for one size, too tall for another... so I figured why not sew them myself? They're nowhere near perfect but hey. Two hobbies with one stone.

    14. I have bins and bins and bins of fabric and trims and laces and ribbons, and................ and need to get started.

    15. I'm in the same boat. I've made a couple of things, but I already sold them all. I have so many plans but no time!

    16. Yep :) they dont wear them all the time but if i cant find what i want to buy i usually just make it. I like buying and making

    17. ahh ha ha! :) same here

    18. It's hard for me to find doll clothes online that I like, and even then, there's a good chance it won't fit over my doll's big bust. I make clothes for my dolls because I can fit them properly, and can also use whatever material I'd like best. I bought myself a sewing machine when I began to sew for BJDs, and although I have no previous sewing experience, it's going OK and I'm improving every time I try. Also planning to have a go at making wefts with the machine sometime soon :)

    19. Well, my SID girl hasn't arrived yet, but I've bought sooo many different yarn for knitting already! And still feel like I need more and more :( Really hard to stop.

    20. Sewing is so hard, I cant even put string through a needle without asking google how to do it :lol:
