Do You Prefer Anthro dolls to Human Dolls? Ever Wonder Why?

Doll Chateau has some lovely and delicate stemmed coltish centaurs bodies that have been catching my eye.

I'm team human... I admire the anthro dolls, but for some reason I can't make them part of my collection, not my vibe, I guess (?)

 

Yes, for sure! Dearmine was my first exposure to bjds; I really hope to have my own Lily someday. I think anthros just have a unique, extra charm to them. There are certainly some human dolls I like too, but they don’t always captivate me the same way.

 

My favorite type of doll is the fantasy doll. The majority of my crew falls under that category, though most are not anthros. However, if you know what kinds of anthro animals I really like, it would not surprise anyone that a bug was my first anthro doll!

 

I prefer human dolls because for me I rather spend a lot on a human doll that is far superior to a vinyl barbie doll. I'm fine with cheap animal toys I can get from walmart as side characters to my human dolls. I feel like the cheap animal plastic toys do a pretty good job looking like animals and are cute. They don't need to be jointed, detailed, or high quality. I can't explain it well. I hope it made sense. Maybe it's because the human dolls are the main characters and the animals are more of an accessory to the doll in a way. I don't want to spend a lot on something that isn't the main focus of my collection.

There are exceptions like I will occasionally buy a bjd anthro doll or animal bjd if it is extremely cute, but it is very rare for me to do that.

I think it's because my human dolls are like a family or friends that i surround around me that make up for what is lacking in my life. It's easier to connect with a human bjd then a barbie for me.

 

I prefer humanoid dolls- human or elves/vampires/etc. I'm not a furry-- and can barely draw anthros and my BJDs are based off of my OCs. I think that's why! My sibling, who is a furry, is getting a doll with animal parts. I think it's a personal preference thing with a ton of different answers depending on the person. Good question!

 

Out of all my friends collection, I personally love the human dolls. I think its just easier to find outfits and change them without popping off claws or hooves.

 

I'm not sure I prefer one over the other. if a sculpt is beautiful I like either. Though, I do only have two humans and three anthros. So maybe that says something. I don't often find myself gravitating towards the "pet" dolls though... many sculpts are beautiful but they can't really wear cute little outfits......

 

I like both anthro dolls and human dolls. I like human dolls because I'm a Barbie collector at the moment and I wish to have some of my more human OCs as dolls. I want to have some anthro dolls due to me putting a personality and backstory onto dolls I don't have and want to buy. I also like that anthros seem to blur the line between realistic and fantasy. Mostly those kinds of dolls are more fantasy than realistic, but there are some anthro dolls that can seem a bit more realistic. Also, I love animals.

 

I like both, but vastly prefer animal dolls. I think personally its because I find animal dolls more cute and fun to dress up. I do own human dolls, but probably wont be buying more and just stick with the animal ones.

 

So far, I only have human dolls (or human-based fantasy dolls like elves) and I admittedly prefer them. A few of my dolls are catboys because I'm cringe, but I know those don't count as anthros lmfao.
But I've seen some cute anthro dolls and might pick one up at some point in the future! I enjoy giving my dolls fantasy elements.

 

I've been admiring a fox anthro sculpt from Dream Valley for awhile now, but whether or not I'll take the plunge remains to be seen. Otherwise, I'm more into the human dolls, I think.

 

Not entirely sure if Soom's fantasy parts count as anthro, or if you mean the human dolls with animal faces like Dearmine. For me, I like dolls with fantasy parts because fantasy parts add challenge to designing outfits - not only does it need to look nice, but it also has to go on over those massive feets/not get caught on long nails/needs a hole for Vesuvia's tail to pass through that doesn't look weird. Fantasy parts can also be blushed with fancy blushing, in a way that feet can't, unless you want them to not wear shoes which in many cases looks slightly odd.
