Do you prefer Child or Adult Dolls? Why?

Feb 9, 2007

    1. I prefer adult looking dolls but I think the younger looking dolls are really pretty too :). But for me it's not my thing to get younger looking dolls. I think the reason is because I like designing clothes for adults but don't really have the same interest when it comes to the younger look. For me it's more fun that way and my preference in clothing styles really doesn't suit children.

    2. With the exception of my little sister, I dislike children in general ^^" This includes child-looking dolls. I know many love them, but to me, they have always been unappealing.
I don't think I own anything that depicts children, so I guess it wouldn't make sense if that changed when it came to BJDs and other dolls. It's not surprising :D

    3. Well I always prefered adult dolls but recently a tiny accidenally joined my family and I actually fell madly in love with having a little girl for all of my "adults" to fawn over and a whole new realm of photo possibilities opened up, however I still don't think I will ever own more than one or two child dolls/characters as I do still greatly prefer adult dolls!

    4. I like the adult dolls because I like the size, and their characters and romantic relationships ;) require adult faces and bodies. That's just me though.

    5. I prefer adult-looking dolls. I don't dislike child dolls in general, but there are a lot of child dolls that I just find unattractive. I'm not really into the general aesthetic of child dolls. Also, my dolls are avatars of my original characters, and most of them are young adults, hence the adult dolls.

    6. I tend to prefer dolls that fall somewhere in the middle. Not super young, but not adults either. Although some tinies are exceptions because of just how cute they are.

    7. I don't have a lot of dolls, and hope to keep it that way, so I can spend my limited time fawning on the ones I have. I have two ChicLines, male and female, who are character dolls and very mature. I have a lot of fun with them, and a rather crazily, non-verbal puki pukisha who has added a crazed silliness to the house, but the love of my doll-life is an LTF Shiwoo. He's sweet, cute, "loving" and his own self, forming his own story as part of our daily lives. I don't really think of him as a kid; he's just Wiishu. He wants clothing of all types and he's cute as a bug in his Dr Who outfit, but none of his clothing is completely "kiddish." We think of it as "house elf chic." :D I really can't think of any sort of outfit he couldn't pull off...with the exception of the overtly sexy styles, which I'll leave to Morgaine and Vanye. He's going to get all kinds of historical adult costumes, as will Morgaine and Vanye.

The biggest drawback for me with most adult adult dolls is the size. The costuming is secondary to me. The easy posing that takes on it's own body language is more important, in part because I like characters to create themselves rather than superimpose one on them. The large dolls (that I've had contact with) are beautiful, but just too limited. Am I tempted by some? Heck, yeah. Would I turn one down if it fell in my lap? Of course not. Do I need one? No. Because I have Wiishu.

I've never been interested in infants, or anything younger than, say, six, but there's a brief moment in time, just before hormones kick in, when kids are pricelessly and innocently aware of the world around them, where they make crazy mistakes with language and physical enough to do the craziest things without killing themselves. That's where Wiishu lives and he helps us enjoy the world in a whole different way.

    8. comparing with adult dolls, i prefer younger dolls much. and comparing with younger dolls, i prefer tiny dolls much! LOL
ok, i like adolescent dolls! cuz they are so cute! and much easier to pose than adult dolls. what's more, their outfits and accessories are easier to make, so cheaper than large dolls.
      wish this could help~ ^ ^

    9. I can't say I really prefer adult or child dolls, maybe adolescents? I have one doll that is styled to be a child, one a young adult, and the other two are older adolescents. I think I have more fun styling my child and adolescent dolls, however.

    10. I don't really prefer any size/age. If it looks great it is nice to look at. : D My dolls are mostly young adults, but few childs are on my mind too.
My problem is probably, that SD dolls are not really my thing (for me too large to handle), so it's pretty hard to find MSD dolls which can be made older than teenage looking.

    11. I like all sizes, from toddlers to adults dolls. Although right now I have only two small, most of the dolls adults. With kids fun to play, but they are complicated in terms of the selection of clothing and footwear.

    12. I prefer teen to adult dolls. This is mainly due to most of my characters being between the ages of 15 - 33. However, I do like child/kid/baby dolls since they are just SO adorable and I just cannot help but want them sometimes:).

    13. I usually do not think about my doll's ages but I would say that I prefer 12~16 adolescent age type dolls. I also think the older dolls are pretty but they aren't for me, nor are the super young dolls ^^

    14. Mine's a mix! I started with an Adult doll, and the next one I bought was a kid, a Cutie Delf. So I like them all!

    15. I personally prefer adolescent to adult type dolls, you want to feel good looking at them and also envy yourself as well XD

    16. I guess I prefer somewhere in between? Almost all of my dolls are in the adolescent/young adult range. My first doll is a child doll though, and I love her to bits, but I don't have plans for anymore childlike dolls.

    17. My heart wants me to have adult dolls, but the younger ones are so cute! I would say child dolls for me :)

    18. I prefer the look of the more mature dolls. All my dolls currently are 60-70cm SDs and are depicted as adults. But I do plan to buy a few YoSD and/or MSD-sized ones to be the "children" of my older dolls.

That said, at meets I admire and enthuse more over the SDs, but when it comes to handling and posing, I seem to gravitate towards the YoSDs and MSDs more. They're easier to manipulate and carry around.

    19. Child dolls. Even if I had to make the choice over and over, I'd probably only ever go as far as "teen". But really, I'm only ever likely to have the two dolls I own so... child dolls XD

    20. For me, perhaps it's adults. Child dolls are adorable, but most of my characters are adult and I prefer working with characters of that age range.
