1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you prefer Child or Adult Dolls? Why?

Feb 9, 2007

    1. I prefer the young adults. They fit better in my story for them and my story can be more open. I do have child like dolls but majority are (well will end up being, since I have yet to buy the dolls I have planed for my story) young adult looking.

    2. I like mature-looking MSD dolls; I can dress them as a child or as an adult, so I get the best of both worlds~

    3. I like a real mixture, although I find 'baby'-like dolls a bit creepy.

    4. It depends, some of the dolls that are being release I wish they had when I was younger like the Monster High, Novi Stars, Lalaloopsy, etc., however I've only been interested in the Monster High dolls because they differ from the normal doll XD

    5. I came into the hobby about 1.5 years ago because the older dolls were what attracted me. The SD16s were where I started. I have since added some DD for their connection to the anime & figures I also collect. Just recently I added the SDMidi girls. I argued with myself about getting them, but it was futile. I was really surprised at how much I've enjoyed having them around. They are suitably sized as children among the older dolls. I know the new midi boys are out, but I've pointedly avoided checking them out. They would surely cause my finances discomfort, because I would have to get them both of course. Haven't done much with the dolls since the start of summer. Projects and events unrelated have occupied my time, but doll clothing purchases have been steady. Looking forward to this Autumn where I can sort out the doll family connections. ..So to answer the question, I do prefer the older dolls, but I appreciate what the younger ones are adding to my enjoyment!

    6. Same here. I also have all ages and sizes...if I had just a specific favorite, I think my collection would not be all over the place:sweat

My favorite is the childlike look, though. I love kids and I enjoy having dolls from 5 to 14 years old, but I also have teenage and adult dolls. Every doll is beautiful. None of them is creepy or better than the other.

    7. I've never really based my searches on whether I liked a younger or older look –*it usually has to do with the character I am looking to create. I've had some difficulty deciding between certain age dolls on Dream of Doll, for example. I love a lot of the sculpts in DOC, and they are $200 cheaper than DOT. However, for certain characters, I'm conflicted on whether DOC is too young. Some of the profiles list their ages as 7-8 years, but they don't look that young to me at all..! They look like teens.. the DOT look like adults. My Kira (DOC Mir) was created after a young adult character of mine. Mir has a more mature face to begin with, and I think I was able to age her up a bit with some success by her clothes and hair.

I do get kinda creeped out by the super itsy-bitsy baby dolls though. Maybe real-life babies frighten me. Some company's sculpts are less freaky than others.

    8. I have collected more of the adult dolls, but was recently turned over to the FairyLand dolls and I LOVE the cute little kids. The Puki Puki ones to be very specific....I am now into the adult and the kiddie looking dolls. Not so much into the teenager younger doll look. Can't wait to add a kiddie doll to my collection.

    9. Teenagers to be honest. Kids are fun, and I love making photo stories, but I feel more of a connection to an MSD's character. Also older dolls can have much more of a variety for clothes.:)

    10. I have a mixture, I like the diversity. Though most are what I'd call young adults.

    11. You know, Heyit'sDiana, I never really thought about it, but you're right, there is a wider range of variety as far as clothing options go for the older dolls.

    12. I like both <3 you see, I have an SD that looks childish and other who looks mature, and I love them but there's too my MSD guy and yeah, I like them all :)

    13. I like tinys but I really like mature dolls a lot too. I haven't really seen a YoSD that I really liked though.

    14. I'm not that keen on more childlike dolls, I prefer adolescent/ adult dolls...

    15. adults only.i don't like baby-doll. that's all

    16. I prefer child dolls I think. From what I've seen and have myself. I've got tinies, Yo-sd and MSD size, so that go up teenagers as well. I would like an adult doll at some point but I find it hard to find a sculpt I like.

    17. I am the exact same way. I thought I would prefer an older doll before and now I have a little fee and I love love love her! Shes just the perfect size. Something about the dolls innocence i guess. However I do like the mline adult dolls, but I think the innocence is what really sells me..the cuteness verses the sexiness.

    18. I find that I really like to have a good age range. I generally keep a good mix of young and old, large and small dolls. Diversity rules here!

    19. I like diffirent dolls, not only BJDs, and in BJDs I like child dolls, teenagers, adults... I think, I'd like to add old personages to my stories, but there aren't such BJDs...

    20. After trying a variety of sizes and styles, I have settled into adults in SD size and children in MSD size. They display well together and are good sizes to sew for.
