Do you prefer Child or Adult Dolls? Why?

Feb 9, 2007

    1. I like the adult looking dolls. That doesn't mean that I won't look at 'child-ish' dolls or get them - if there is a sculpt that looks good I'll probably buy it. Though I do prefer the more mature bodies and faces. I feel that I can do more with them and it won't look/feel so creepy.

    2. I guess I have a preference for more child-like, and less realistic-looking dolls, since I have a great number of chubby yo-sd and Lati Yellow.

    3. I like adult dolls. All of my dolls are 20s except one that is about 14. I think child dolls are adorable when they are also on child like bodies (yo-sd & tines). But when they are really childlike in the face and have these super mature bodies....that bugs me. I'd love a little 26cm child doll but SDs have my heart at the moment.

    4. I prefer adult dolls, and when i bought my first one- everything was ok, i planned to make her 20+ years old, but everything changed when i bought a boy for her. He arrived, i put them on the shelf together, and one day i understood, that they look just like teens. Now she is 15, and he is 16.. >.< Need to change something, will start with wigs and eyes, i think.

    5. I would have to say a Teenager-young adult so like early 20's ish. just because I feel ilke it is more relatable me being 19 to be able to make a character that is around the same age.

    6. I tend to stray more towards the tween to adult spectrum. The kids are cute but the bodies just don't seem as well designed as the more adult bodies.

    7. I like adult ones. I like to dress them up in smexy clothes and give them crazy personalities. With kid dolls I feel kinda limited.

    8. I am not sure, I guess it depends. I love adult dolls (My minifees are adults) because you can dress them up in high heels and amazing clothes that I would NEVER get away with, but on the other hand I love dressing my Pukifees because I get to put them in the most adorable clothing!

    9. I like the child dolls. I think it has to do with being a woman and as a child always having baby dolls. Also having 5 kids I have always loved caring for them and child dolls remind me of them. The adult dolls do nothing for me personally. They are pretty, but that's about it. I like to look at them, but I am not inclined to buy one.

    10. I love childish dolls, I just love cute little innocent things with huge eyes :) But I love looking at pics of adult dolls that belong to others :)

    11. So far I would say I prefer adult dolls although I do love both and I plan to get a child doll as my second doll :)

    12. I LOVE the child-like dolls most. <3
I do adore plenty of adult dolls and do want one but I feel more free and inspired when looking at the child-like dolls. Child-like dolls feels more at home with my heart because they are so cute and adorable. It is more of my genre rather than the attractive female adults.

    13. I prefer adult dolls. For some reason, they look prettier and more realistic to me. The child dolls are way closer to having more...anime-esque, I guess you could say, features. Those are cute, but not my preference.
Adults dolls are also easier, for me anyway, to base off of characters of mine.

    14. Child-like doll or adult doll
How did you decide between which style of doll to pick?
How did you know which one was the right one or best one for you to own?

Anything specific you especially like about that type of doll?
Anything specific you dislike about the opposite kind of doll type?

(mods if this isn't in the right place please excuse my mistake and feel free to remove or move this)

    15. Who says you only have to pick one? :D

My Minis are all in the "slim/mature mini" range, and are more adult-like, and I love them. They fit exactly what I wanted originally from the hobby (shells for my OCs) without taking up as much space or money as SD and larger size dolls, and I love the look of them.

My Tinies, however, are all very child-like, and don't all fit with the families of minis. They're mostly their own sets; they're certainly not what I was originally planning with the hobby, and the first one was purchased on a whim, but I love the look of them, too!

There's nothing I specifically "like/dislike" about each type in general, honestly; they're different aesthetic styles fitting different wants from collectors. Any pros and cons for me are related to the specific companies, and not whether the doll looks like a child or adult.

    16. I will almost always pick adult, because with one exception, all of my characters are teens or adults. I don't enjoy role playing characters until after the puberty years, so I have no need for child dolls. (The one exception is a Yo-SD, because he's my second doll's son.)

Other than a baby for one of my adult dolls, the only time I might consider a more childish sculpt would be if I have a character that is meant to be chubby. My SD10 body is a 37 year old man, but he's a short, thicker guy, other bodies were too tall, thin or muscular.

    17. I'm not particularly interested in much of anything involving kids, and while I play a couple of kid characters in some of my RPs (because my adult characters had kids), I don't really want to shell them -- at least not until they're teens or adults. So I don't really have any interest in childlike dolls. I do have a couple of Kid Delfs, which are much more on the childlike side, but after getting them and a couple of other MSD-size dolls I decided that I prefer the SD size anyway, and that kind of contributes to it. I haven't seen very many childlike SD-size dolls.

    18. While I absolutely adore Latis! I generally favour more adult dolls (msd and sd usually), I have no idea why but I just like them better ;)
For yosd's I just think that sometimes they are too young for me (then again I'm not one for liking kids :P)

    19. Well, I like both, but only if it suits the mold. Generally, I think I like dolls that are a bit more mature in appearance. There are some very child like msds but mine look like older teens or young adults. My yosds are a little more mature than your average tinies so I see them as preteens not children. I do adore child like dolls and would eventually love to have one. I don't really see myself limited to one type of doll, and will explore any and all avenues.

    20. I love both styles. I don't currently have any child-like dolls in the larger size, but I've eyed different molds that I would like someday. I think I started with adults because I can live vicariously through them. :sweat I have a few little girls that I love dressing up and spoiling, though :XD:
