Do you prefer Child or Adult Dolls? Why?

Feb 9, 2007

    1. I like adult ones, because strong manly and curvy femenine bodies are pleasant to look at.

    2. I prefer the more mature looking dolls, since to me a lot of these dolls are really childish looking (also I've been cursed with a baby-face... people say it's a blessing, but when your 14 year old sister looks older than you and you're five years older, it's not). It's been taking me so long since most of the MSD sized dolls are really childish looking, but finally I found a doll that is "perfect"- young and mature that has a reserved, elegant, and refined property in her expression (btw the doll is Feilian from DZ). ^-^

    3. My dolls are all MSD-size, early-teen, but I do like looking at other people's adult dolls. Financially, it's easier to stay in one size range, but if that wasn't a consideration, I wouldn't mind SD adult dolls.

      I don't like tinies, however.

    4. I don't mind really...but I think I prefer teenagers (MSD size) but I don't have problems with adults too (specially male adults lol)

    5. I also prefer mature looking dolls, but I'm not exactly sure as to why...

    6. First I though I like adult dolls more, but then I thought about so many dolls which have my friends, looks like children and now I really don't know. I think it depends on stylization, wigs, clothes and face-up. More of "adults" can look more nobly, elegant, but I can't imagine BJDs World without that smiling faces, toys and cute little dolls. For me, as owner, I choose adult, but maybe never say never...?

    7. For me, it depends who truly calls out to me. If I saw a young child doll that I fell in love with, I would surely bring them home. Leeke World's Clover was one of those. I never expected to become so smitten by a smaller doll! I am quite taken by adult dolls, also, particularly any sculpt by Soom. I feel that if there was an adolescent/teen or MSD doll that called out to me, I would likely fall in love with them, too!

    8. Right now i have smaller dolls. I would really love to own one of those Dahlia Lusion dolls. They are huge and would be great fun fun to make clothes for!!

    9. ummm for me I prefer MSD not too big and not too small ^^
but my doll J.I.D have big muscle like adult doll haha

    10. I have one adult looking doll and one child like one. I really don't have a preference of which I like best... I think they are each fun in their own way :)

    11. I like little girls since their so fun to dress up and teenage boys since they can be really edgy. Majority of really adult dolls just don't cut it for me.

    12. I much prefer adult dolls. For many reasons. I like to look at a doll and think "You're hot", not "awww, cute little baby..."...I'm not a fan of real kids, don't need a doll of kids....I role play my characters on sites that require players and characters to be 18, so if they are under, I can't play them and I don't bond....I don't really like childish/teen drama anyway...adult clothing is more fun...I don't feel as weird having them sitting around the house nude while I sew or work on them.

Of my 14 current dolls that are home or on the way, I have 10 adults, a teen and 3 kids, though Parker is 8 and like a little adult and Lucien is a fire sprite, so not a typical baby. And Zack is only acceptable b/c he's the son of one of my favorite boys. :P

    13. I don't think I have a preference. I collect children and adults, I'm not really into teenagers though.
Tinies have their charm and likewise with larger dolls.

    14. I like the more adult dolls more. The curves of the bodies, and the more...aristocratic faces, I guess? I like looking at the chibiish looking faces of the younger dolls, but I prefer the older faces, and it seems like it'd be more fun to make clothes for an adult body.

    15. When I was making porcelain dolls, I was more interested in the adults, because I loved making adult Victorian style clothes (hooped and bustled skirts). I could never get the little girl dresses to come out right.

I love the fantasy costuming that I see on the adult dolls, like Soom, and the clothes that Dollhearts creates. I've seen so many unusual styles for the younger dolls that I've now taken an interest in them to create clothes for. My first BJDs were Littlefees and, soon to be, Kaye Wiggs girls (still waiting for them to arrive).

    16. I definitely prefer the older looking dolls. I think it has a lot to do with the fact that I don't like children in general, though there are one or two Littlefee that I'm planning on getting a little later on.

    17. I've always liked adult dolls, even when I was very, very young. Just never wanted a baby-doll even as a kid. I don't mind fashion dolls. I loved the idea of changing outfits. With BJDs-- changing outfits and hair and eyes and faces--that was even BETTER!

I liked characters that could do all kinds of things and be all types of things in my imagination. When I was a kid I liked the idea of being an adult and able to do so many things. But I didn't care much for the style of dolls that were available. I like historical fashions, and looks that were just the current trend--so I was drawn to antique dolls and boudoir dolls... but I also liked male dolls, and good ones were hard to find! I liked Ken only when they put some rooted hair on him and gave him some outfits beyond normal shirts and pants.

The lack of what I REALLY wanted definitely forms my opinions of BJDs... I am just SO happy when I see a variety of males (and females, but males a bit more), and LOTS of choice in clothes (beyond street clothes. bleh. I see street clothes all the time. why do I need to see more?), and fantasy dolls (pure heaven!!!).

I DO have some tinies 'cause I'm susceptible to CUTE, and anthros because of the fantasy/differentness of them... and 'cause I like animals, too... but NONE of them are babies or even all that young. The human-formed ones are elves and fairies and basically immortal. The anthros are ageless, but basically able to take care of themselves. I guess I like dolls that can have a life without me or someone else taking care of them!

    18. I have a soft spot for pudgy childish dolls (Which is why I love Littlefee Bisou so much) but I hate having really casual childs clothing for them usually. I like adult dolls but I have a harder time bonding with them, probably because of the size and also because I find them hard to work with - i feel they HAVE to be very maturely styled. I hate teenager dolls generally. They have to be styled in a very non-teenager way for me.

    19. I prefer adolescent to young adult-looking dolls. But most my dolls look somewhat ageless so I guess I'm not set into a certain age for them. ;)

That being said, I do notice that I tend to avoid dolls that look very adult, even if some are gorgeous to look at. Mature minis likewise ended up in the same category for me and were sold in the end.

    20. I'm waiting on a Pukifee who's going to be about a 3-4 year old... I'd also like to have a Littlefee older sister for her at some point... but I don't think I'd want anything bigger/older than that. I guess because I'm sublimating maternal instinct with them and the idea of them being adult or adolescent already is... well I'm just not that old yet.
