    1. I prefer msd and smaller. I love the look of the bigger ones, but they are so unwieldy for me. I started in the hobby with tinies, but started collecting yosd and msd later. Around 50cm is my limit.

    2. My doll history before BJDs was all model kits, action figures, fashion dolls and Volks 1/6 Dollfie, so everything I had was tiny. Tiny to sew for, tiny to paint, tiny to focus on. Once BJDs came along, I really fell for the idea of being able to do the same crafts without having the struggle of everything being so damn small.

The first doll that tipped me over from admiring bjds to purchasing one was a 70cm doll and that set the tone for my whole crew. Most of my dolls are 60-70cm, with one 80cm doll. I didn't really get attached to any mini size dolls until the "Big Baby" size came along, mini size bodies that use large size doll heads.

    3. I'm the weirdo that finds MSD and smaller too small for my tastes. That scale has always seemed more like action figures in style and details over the more aesthetically, realistically pleasing air of SD/70cm+. Which is odd, as I—once upon a time—randomly collected alternative fashion dolls and Pullips. I think, as my tastes veered more towards appreciating realism over stylized, it led to my disinterest in smaller dolls. I do have a couple MSDs, but they're more the exception than the rule.

SDs—ah, SDs. I love the solidity, the weight, the presence to them. They're easier to make/find in-scale clothing/accessories for over smaller scaled bjds. You can also achieve more realism and detail in faceups and blushing with them as well. I also don't have to worry about my cat picking fights with them too (She would on a couple occasions pull Pullip/Taeyang dolls down from shelves, thankfully without damage—but still...:sweat) Also, as an artist who does all the faceup/blushing work on my crew—the larger scale gives me more leeway with the details can achieve. Then there's that whole stringing thing...if I had to string bjds with channels as narrow as the fingers of SD jointed hands, I'd be a massive ball of anxiety. I swear, it takes hours—even days—just to restring those dratted jointed hands...

The only real exception in regards to smaller scale for me would be cat bjds. When it comes to realistic, extremely poseable cat bjds—I'm an absolute sucker for them. I don't currently have any as of yet, but I do have Dream Valley Moon on my waiting list (which I think technically counts as a cat...):kitty2

    4. I like larger dolls better as they are easier to paint. The only issue with them is the space they take but it’s worth it. I have one msd sized doll I love dearly but I don’t plan on getting more

    5. I looked for tinies as a way to fill small spaces in the doll room and I realized I have liked childlike dolls all my life so I stuck with yosd and smaller. I guess there are big bb but I’m pretty invested in 26cm and under at this point.

    6. I like SD sized dolls. I think their size was partly what drew me to this hobby in the first place— I'd never seen dolls this size with these proportions. And they feel so substantial too, just a unique experience overall. Obviously ymmv, if you don't have much space or don't like heavier dolls then they won't be for you. However, my 5 SD sized dolls fit on about 3 feet of shelving and don't feel crowded to me. I guess it's going to depend on how big of a collection someone has.

    7. I've owned a bunch of dolls from 13-65 cm and I think where I've settled is the 20-50 range. I LOVE the look of 50+ cm dolls, just their size makes so much more little detail possible, but both price and space are an issue + with some injuries, they become unwieldy. On the flip side, anything below 20-25 cm in height is just too light and little to maintain my interest. My two girls I have right now are 30 and 40 cm respectively, and they feel more or less perfect.

    8. So far I really like MSD and YOSD sizes, as they fit really well within my small space and the range is perfect for me. I don't own an SD yet, but I'd like to get one someday so I can really see/feel the size difference compared to my other dolls. One day that pipe dream will be a reality..

    9. I primarily like tinies, but a few minis here and there are nice too. I love tinies because of the cute proportions and because it’s easier to buy/build props and dioramas and stuff for them.

    10. I find myself way more drawn to MSD and 1/6 scale, especially if they're mature vs childish -- something about the size of anything 50cm+ kind of freaks me out, haha! I need my cat to be able to beat my dolls in a fight if it came down to it.

    11. I own two msd sized dolls at the moment but ever since I joined the hobby I’ve dreamed of adopting my first SD It’s just a lil scary making such a big commitment to a small toddler lol but I know that I prefer bigger dolls even tho I don’t own one yet I just love the idea of a large focus point in my home!!

    12. I like large because of the detail, more mature options, they're easier for me to sew for, easier to paint, and I just love how big and heavy they are! It's a huge contrast between them and the fashion dolls and 18" dolls I used to collect, and I love that they stand out from anything else I've ever owned.

    13. I own 3 MSDs right now, but I recently ordered an SD and I'm excited to get one! I don't like small dolls, however; ever since I got my MSDs I feel as if I'm going to snap a small doll in half.

    14. I prefer SD since their sizing is easier to find and to make! 1/4 has some really cute stuff too though! The smaller you get the harder it is to buy for
.... 1/24 size are the WORST AHHHHHH I feel like I will lose her all the time!

    15. I prefer SD sized dollies. If possible I want to aim for tbe lower end of that size (raccoon doll / Sartoriaj) but okay with 60cms. I do not think I want the very large ones.

I may choose a MSD sculpt in the future but preference is towards SD for now.

    16. I'd love to own more SD's but as someone else said, space is an issue so I mainly have YOSD's and tinier. I love my MSD's most though I think xD

    17. I chose other because while I'd prefer 1/4 scale sized dolls, the kind of face sculpts i like best just aren't available at that scale, so I look for 1/3 size dolls, since that seems to be the only size that really has adult looking face sculpts. The vast majority of 1/4 or smaller dolls just look far too baby faced for the characters i want to make.

    18. I have everything from a 6cm Micro to a 75cm giant in my crew, but my strongest preference is for dolls in the "old school" 1/3 SD (55-65cm) range... Think CP Delfs, Volks SD13s and SD17s, Lati Reds and such.

70+cm dolls are often larger and heavier than I can easily handle, and while the itty-bitty Tiny and Micro dolls are cute, they're a royal pain in the rump to sew for.

The mid-sized MSDs? Honestly, in spite of having a few in the collection, I've just never really found much to love about them. Sewing for them is still on a small enough scale to be annoying, and many of the sculpts seem to me to be caught in an awkward space between childlike and adult that doesn't really work well for either.

    19. The larger ones are easier to sew for and they can be scaled to backgrounds more easily - but those tinies are just sooo portable and I find myself grabbing them if I’m going somewhere simply because they’re less heavy and bulky.

    20. This is kind of hard for me to put into words but I think I prefer larger dolls. my first was a mid size, about 42cm I think? My newest is about 54-- and I'm planning on getting one around 60cm soon, but like, they just kind of have more heft to them, and its a bit easier to make slightly larger clothes :sweat
