Do You ReDress Often...or Leave Them Alone?

Nov 26, 2009

    1. depends on how much time i have. I used to change them like once a week, now it's like once per month or months.

    2. So the questions are: How long do YOU usually keep your dolls in a specific character or outfit?
My doll's characters don't have set clothing. I have a good few outfits for each of them and when i'm bored of one i change them. I can change their outfit multiple times a day if i'm in a fussy enough mood.
Mostly though, they spend time in their pajamas. Of which all of my dolls have one (one has 3 or 4 thiugh)

Do you dress in a character or favorite outfit and leave them alone...next to forever? or..
No. I cant stand for these to stay just as is for too long. I know some owners prefer it, but i don't. I like variety ^^.

Do you change outfits OFTEN, but at the same time retaining the character? (keeping within the 'persona' you have chosen for your doll when selecting new outfits)
I feel all of my doll's personalities can suit a wide range of clothes and looks. One of my dolls is more of a punky type girl, one can do casual but usually doesn't, and the rest are girls that can pull off elegant evening wear type dresses to casual (but still feminine) outfits.

Or does it even matter ~ and you just change characters/clothing randomly to suit your mood?
I don't think it matters, your doll is your doll. If you wanna change it, change it. If you don't, then don't! :P

    3. Oh I redress my dolls often, even though it's only one who really has a wardrobe to choose from :sweat.
They "tell me" what they feel like wearing each day, but sometimes they're cool with chillin' in the same outfit for a few days in a row.

    4. My two are OT dolls, but seeing as they're barbie sized, and I have tons of old barbie clothes, they change quite often for different photoshoots. (one Pullip, one Hujoo)

    5. I like having extensive wardrobes for my dolls. An outfit for every occasion and even holidays. ^^

But then again, I like to treat them more as things to dress up instead effigies or fictional characters. I don't enjoy the task of undressing and dressing them though so they usually end up stripped or loafing around in the same change of clothes for months. ^^; As for wigs and eyes, I like having a variety and backups. I might have several wigs in shades of blonde and different pairs of green eyes for a doll just to switch things up every once in a while. Here lately I've been wanting my dolls to cosplay. ^^~

    6. For me it often depends on what I'm doing. I don't like taking pictures of them in the same outfit all the time, so I try to change their outfit from the last time I took pictures. They also get dressed appropriately for the weather, so right now the ones who have warmer outfits have changed into them (it's gotten quite chilly here now @_@ ). Now and then I just get bored that they're wearing they've been wearing the same thing for so long and I change it around.

    7. My bjd stay in an outfit only as long as it takes till the next time I photograph them. I do not make set "characters" or anything of the sort for dolls because that's so terribly limiting... I change outfits, and especially wigs, rather frequently. It's one of the best parts of owning/photographing bjd! I believe the only thing I dont change too terribly often are eyes because it's a bit of a hassle imo.

    8. I only change their clothes when I'm gonna do a photoshoot. Otherwise, depending on the size... I change their clothes every now and then (bigger dolls are a pain in the rear to dress... Whereas MSDs are so much fun).

    9. I haven't one BJD still, but with my first DOllfie Dream i would make the same as with my Azone DOlls! I would dress them and take them out with me for some great photoshootings :) So they would never be alone!

    10. yes, just as much as i change wigs, maybe more because i like to store my dolls without anything dark and because i love dark clothes i have to take lots of parts off or all, so i tend to like changing often

    11. Considering one of my character actually can change his eye color and dyes his hair fairly often, the eyes and wig will change often (unless the eyes are a pain in the rear to get to) but I'm also a little worried about staining so that's another reason for changing. Clothing wise I don't think I'll be changing things up that often.

    12. At my house we have something like the "nude beach" area. Very free spirits. I have an extra large master bedroom divided into partitions for a variety of activities. I sleep on a futon below, bunk above to give even more room. Just to help create the setting as it does fit the question pretty much?? Lots of spaces for vignettes and allowing the dolls to lounge around. NUDE. Err...I join them. I live alone with an occasional roommate for various reasons. Door is closed when another human occupant is around. Hope that isn't TMI.

In more publicly displayed areas "we" dress. I have enough dolls that my answer would vary for each doll, and is already covered in other answers.

    13. I change my dolls constantly! Especially my yo-size dolls. I've loved clothes and fashion for as long as I can remember, and the outfits are a big part of the hobby for me. I also tend to change my MSDs a lot. My SD girls however don't have much to wear at all, so they spend a lot more time in the same outfit. Must work on remedying that. I have a default hair color for each of my girls, but they change that up as well for fun.

    14. I change my dollies clothes every few days because I'm constantly making him new clothes x3

    15. I only have a few outfits for my doll. I made him some and he usually wears the clothes I made for him, as they're more casual/intimate than the manufacturer's items. The ones I made are also (hopefully) less likely to stain. He's in a white teddy type of thing right now, which I made, but the things I bought for him are all black and I hear they can stain pale resin easily.

    16. Well for me, I love props And clothing for my dolls. It's a weakness for me And a huge reason I love this hobby. Granted, it is quite expensive to focus on extensive wardrobes but it helps me build my characters. I try to change as frequently as I do photostories so I change my 3 pkfs as often as once a week. Even when I don't do the stories I get bored seeing them in the same outfits so if I have any free time for myself, after my kids are in bed, its a treat for me to change their outfits or reoganize their outfits by doll or type, or make wishlists for my next doll accessory purchase, as I watch a good movie And drink some cappucino by myself, lol. I do have to say, though, with exception of one of the 4 dolls I own, I don't change their eyes or hair once their character is developed. They each also have a specific style of wardrobe.

    17. So the questions are: How long do YOU usually keep your dolls in a specific character or outfit?
Lol I dress him for staying at home and going out and usually I change his outfit everyday.

Do you dress in a character or favorite outfit and leave them alone...next to forever? or..
Do you change outfits OFTEN, but at the same time retaining the character? (keeping within the 'persona' you have chosen for your doll when selecting new outfits)
I bought my doll to *be* a certain character so he always stays in character, otherwise, I don't even have any interest in the hobby but he does have certain outfits that he wears more often and for longer periods of time. Those would be clothes that he wears canonically or modern clothes that he would wear.

Or does it even matter ~ and you just change characters/clothing randomly to suit your mood?
Sometimes I do change his clothing to suit my mood but it's still always clothes he would wear because I don't buy clothes that don't fit his character.

    18. When I first get a doll, I change their clothes a couple times a day(if I have stuff that fits). all my dolls change clothes like twice a week on average. for eyes and wigs not as often, they have like 2 sets that they each switch between. and whenever I think a certain one needs something NEW that doll sits nude until I get in the mood to sew

    19. I don't have a lot of doll clothes yet, so I don't redress my doll that often, but I do switch between outfits at least once a week. Once I get more clothes, I'll definitely change her clothes more often. I love to dress up, and that gets carried on to my dolly hobby. XD

    20. I would love to change their clothing, my characters wouldn't shift just depending on what they were wearing. for me it's sort of fun to see them in clothing they wouldn't normally where, it'd bring out their character more, to see them look different. i just need to stop being lazy and order clothes, i'm very awful at this point right now.
