It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Do You ReDress Often...or Leave Them Alone?

Nov 26, 2009

    1. My dolls keep the same wig and eyes all of the time with the exception of Seraphine, who has wigs of the same length and colour but in a different style and if I do photoshoots were the character is meant to be slightly younger. I change the clothes almost constantly; it's half the fun for me.

    2. I'm usually too busy to redress my girl every day so she usually stays in the default dress that she came with but I do redress her every week or two
of course her character is the same no matter what she's wearing and I keep her personality and style in mind when shopping for new clothes for her

    3. I like to keep them in one 'default' outfit when they're just sitting around. Right now, they're just in hoodies, wearing wigs and eyes. I put on everything else when they come out.

    4. I would change their clothes every day if I had enough outfits, but I only have about 1 or two outfits per doll right now. When I'm not taking pictures of my dolls I keep them naked because I'm so paranoid about staining. What I would like to do is have white sleep outfits for all my dolls.

    5. My volks dollfie dreams stay in their default outfits (since I kept their original characters) and are left up on their stands.
But my two luts delfs are changed fairly often. My DD's are more like display dolls while my delfs are the ones I 'play' with more. :)

    6. I actually rarely ever change my dolls out of their outfits. Once I decide on their outfit, wigs, eyes, and hairstyle, that is it. They are done and I won't change out of it. I've tried before with some dolls--changing to different themes and things, but while some were okay, others got annoying/tiresome really quickly or it was depressing taking them out of an outfit it took so much time to get on to begin with back off.

I'm not really lazy with it, but usually I just like how much something looks on them, I feel no need to change it. Essentially in a "I don't think anything could look nicer for them" kind of way. But honestly, if I found an outfit I loved a lot and enjoyed wearing, I'd probably want to wear it everyday too so I guess I kind of look at it in that kind of sense.

    7. I dont really change them that often I kinda find an outfit I love on them and leave it and sometimes feel like I should change them and I start going through the clothes and I just figure its better to stick to what they have on lol. :D

    8. I'm the same. I find a look I love and tend to leave them that way. Wigs I change more often.

    9. i change them, very often, but then i sew to their sizes... i really enjoy getting them clothes they can change into

    10. My dolls keep the same wig and eyes all of the time.but I change the clothes everyday.

    11. I think it depends on the doll. Some dolls I order with the intention of changing their clothing immediately. Others stay in their original clothes indefinitely.

    12. My dolls don't really have set characters so I tend to just dress them in whatever looks good.

That said, I sew all my own clothes so their outfits only really get changed when I've been un-lazy and have been productive in the clothing manufacturing. I tend to keep their nicer outfits stored away for photoshoots and just leave them in some very basic, comfy, non-staining clothes when I'm not actively playing with them. I've found leaving them sitting in nicely fitted clothes causes yucky wrinkles and stretching of the fabric sometimes, so for longevity's sake they sit around in "junk" clothes most of the time. I don't like to photograph them in exactly the same outfit more than once, so I try to sew them new outfits fairly often. But I seem to just keep bringing home more dolls when I should be spoiling the ones I already have XD

    13. I'm majorly into fashion dolls so with me it's all about finding the perfect outfit. Clothes are 3/4 of the reason I collect. I love dressing my dolls up making them or buying them new stuff. I have some dolls that never change outfits and that I don't play with because they look so perfect in what they have on that I don't want to disrupt that. I have others I change out the clothes on regularly. I am sure I will be the same with my BJD's. Because they are more play dolls I will likely change them out regularly but I'm sure I'll have a favorite outfit for them regardless, one that I go back to often. My vinyl (OT) BJD's have one default outfit plus a couple more besides. They have a whole trunk of clothes just for them at this point. My resin ones will be the same in time. I think. My dolls, all of them, they always end up with a good wardrobe even if I have to make it all. I'm a clothes horse in real life and even more so with my dolls...

    14. I don't change my dolls eyes or wigs (except as I upgrade - silicone eyes are expensive!). Outfit-wise, I currently only have one outfit per doll, but as I make/buy more I plan to redress my dolls more often. At a minimum, I'd like to redress them seasonally (for example, have winter coats and lighter clothes for summer).

    15. I always look for new styles to sew for my dolls, so they get changed quite often! Their wigs and eyes, not so much. I only change those if I happen across a wig I think will better fit their character. My dolls are always changing positions and places where I set them in my room as well. I just feel that the more I do with them, the more justified I am in spending what I do on them. :) Plus it's fun making new styles!

    16. I'm usually changing her outfit because I like to see something new, but I haven't changed her since the beginning of march because I need to watch her clothes and make more clothes for her

    17. I only seem to dress mine when they have new clothes, usually because I just finished making something but if there is an occasion I may dress a few for a photo but I am so afraid of anything marking them in spite of linings and tights etc that I always undress them and put them away in their boxes again. I have only two who have a definate character, one is Soom Violet who is a Rosette schoolgirl the other is a swan so she is naturally a ballerina. Not much imagination I'm afraid lol

    18. I don't put new stuff on them too often, maybe once every few years. Its just that they seem to bond with everything. One thing I don't change if I can help it is the wig.

    19. Really great question and answers, I love how we all enjoy our dolls/hobby differently :)
For me...I find that I tend to "stumble" on the perfect outfiy by changing clothes a lot initially but then it is like ::handel's chorus:: and I can never take them out of the outfit XP Well usually I can..it just takes a looonnng time and they usually end up back in it shortly after:)

    20. it usually depends on the amount of outfits the doll has, some of my bigger sizes only have 1 outfit each or 2 top and then i will change them every month or so. same goes for my other dolls, some have more, some have less so it depends on my mood and when i get tired of their current outfit.
