1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do You ReDress Often...or Leave Them Alone?

Nov 26, 2009

    1. I LOVE to change clothes! I don't switch around my doll's eyes very much, but the hair does change from time to time. I think it also depends on which outfit... I don't like to leave dark colours on my doll for very long (for fear of staining), but I leave him in light colours for long periods of time. I change the outfits maybe around once a week, or when I feel like there is a need to switch things up!:)

    2. My one doll is always in the same outfit while the other one gets her clothes changed pretty randomly.
Sometime she'll stay in a favourite outfit for a few days to a week and other times I'll change her outfit multiple times in a day. xD

    3. I only have one doll right now, my Farryn (Doll Leaves WISH) and I'm still experimenting with his character. His eyes are still in the mail, along with a new wig, so once he gets those, I think I'll keep his appearance the way it is once I'm satisfied that it fits! Since people don't usually change their hair color (or eye color), I'll do the same with him. But my favorite part of the hobby is dressing him up. I love getting new clothes for him to wear, and I hope to get a girl eventually so I can put her in the cute dresses!

    4. I redress my girl pretty frequently. but that's also because I sew things for her pretty regularly. My poor boy hasn't gotten much attention so he stays in his clothes

    5. Well, I raerly changed them. I redress when I make(or purchace) a new dress or props for them 9_9)a

    6. I try to change them some what often, since I think it would get kind of boring/annoying being stuck in the same clothing for really long periods of time. So when ever I get new clothing items for one, they usually all end up swapping/changing clothes.

    7. How long do YOU usually keep your dolls in a specific character or outfit?

The max is usually a month. (though this even is rare)

Do you dress in a character or favorite outfit and leave them alone...next to forever?
Do you change outfits OFTEN, but at the same time retaining the character? (keeping within the 'persona' you have chosen for your doll when selecting new outfits)

I do change outfits often- 99% of the clothing I have is very character specific, so yes. I always do strive to keep everyone in character. Though there are times when certain impulse buys will prompt me to change them when I am in the mood. Oftentimes this determines whether this outfit will become a staple of the collection or something that is only brought out at specific times. (ex. like if there is a theme at a meetup)

    8. I don't redress my dolls

    9. I do with some of my dolls more than others. With the ones that I do change their clothing, I usually do it when I'm going to be taking photos of them.

    10. I have several outfits planned for my first doll, so I imagine I will change her a fair amount. I luckily have a grandmother who sew beautifully and I'm not bad myself so there might be more outfit making than expected, which would be fantastic :D

    11. I mostly change the clothes randomly, to suit my mood. Or when I make some new clothes for them. It does not bother me when my dolls are rarely re-dressed. Besides I'm quite a busy person and spend almost whole week days at work so I'm usually out of breath in the evening and the best thing I can do for my dolls in that case is to take some snapshots. When I have free time I find it more interesting to sew something for them. In that case yes, when I finish the item, I usually re-dress a doll.

    12. My dolls have tiny wardrobes all to themselves. So they do get redressed often but I have favorite outfits for them.

    13. I change Ayumis clothes every 2-3 weeks depending on my free time :P I love to sew clothes for her. so, she is quite spoiled with new clothes

    14. I try to redress Elias' clothes at least once a week, mainly because I'm a bit paranoid about staining (and a lot of his clothes are dark colors). Keeping a sort of schedule also just reminds me to relax for a bit and play with him. :)

    15. How long do YOU usually keep your dolls in a specific character or outfit?
My BJDs' characters don't change once I have established who they are. I don't like for them to share clothes, so I try to keep outfits specifically for each doll. But I'm embarrassed to say that sometimes they stay in the same outfit for a year or more!!

Do you dress in a character or favorite outfit and leave them alone...next to forever?
Yep, for a long time! I tell myself that it's sort of like in anime when a character always wears exactly the same thing... but in reality, I am often too lazy to change a BJD's clothes until I am shooting a photostory and I HAVE to change their clothes to indicate the passage of time.

Do you change outfits OFTEN, but at the same time retaining the character?
I do not change their outfits often enough, and my dolls would tell you exactly the same!

Or does it even matter ~ and you just change characters/clothing randomly to suit your mood?
Sometimes it is just to suit my mood, or because I've gotten some new clothes and really want to try them on someone.

    16. I tend to change my girl's outfit every week or so. I have a fair few dresses I've either bought I sewed for her so I like to change her clothes often. They're all styles that fit her character so she still keeps the same personality when her clothes have been changed.
My boy, on the other hand, doesn't have anywhere near as many outfits so I tend to only change his clothes every now and then. It makes me feel a little bad for him... XD

    17. Oh, my dolls are nudists, they loll about in their boxes unclothed. don't feel too sorry for them though... I make them new clothes all the time, and they wear it for an afternoon to show it off, or occasionally we go out to doll meets and they wear whatever is newest, but otherwise, it's back to their box, starkers.

    18. And how many clothes do your doll have?

    19. I do not change my dolls' clothes nearly enough! Some have been wearing the same clothes for two years! I usually change them right before I take pictures of them.

Each of my dolls has at least two or three oufits that are their very own. I don't like to share clothes between dolls. When I get a new doll, he or she has to borrow from others usually. Sometimes they keep what they borrow because it suits them better than it did the original owner. But I always end up buying things specifically for them too.

I have eight hatboxes and two of those tall plastic 3-drawer storage units full of clothes and shoes. I also usually have several bags and cardboard boxes sitting around waiting to be sorted and stored. I need more storage boxes.

    20. My doll has nearly no cloths at all! So I never really change the ones he's wearing :sweat
