Do You ReDress Often...or Leave Them Alone?

Nov 26, 2009

    1. I recently discovered that I really like to redress my dolls. Well, that sounds a little weird, isn't it? Like if I was playing with dolls (at 28y old :sweat) ... but it keeps my interest in my dolls. I tend to get bored if a doll wear the same outfit too long.
I usually put them outfit that fit their character, but sometime I try something else. Like dessing all my girls in kimono, because I have so much kimono and they are sooooo beautiful! :XD:

    2. I like to change their clothes- if I have something else that is!! Yesterday I decided to change my big Dollstown girl out of her spring/summer outfit into her Halloween outfit!! Always forget what a chore it is! Almost lost a finger when it got caught in a thread. Which makes me think of a possible poll on this topic as to whether most people remove hands and head when changing clothes??

    3. I change often. I have at least 2 outfits for all my dolls, and I'm making pajamas for all of them right now. I don't put my dolls "to bed" exactly, since they don't have rooms or bed yes, but I like how cute they look sitting in their pajamas holding stuffed toys. They're having a pajama party right now. LOL

Oh, and my SD boy Genesis has 2 completely different looks. One is the serious University student and the other is a semi grungy rocker boy. I figure a guy can't be serious all the time. I love giving him different looks, including different wigs. When my SD Becca arrives (only 2 more weeks) I'm sure it will be the same. I LOVE redressing my SD size dolls.

    4. I don't have a specific outfit my doll wears, but it such a pain to redress her because she so heavy and big. I don't have a very large selection of clothing anyway... :sweat

    5. My dolls are only in outfits when I'm doing a shoot. Normally, they're naked and lying in a box. I find the clothes wrinkle easily if I leave them on the doll. Of course, if the outfit is specially for that character only, then I don't bother with taking the outfit off.

    6. I change their clothes as the mood strikes - but they are characters who have extensive everyday wardrobes plus cosplay ones. They've got wigs that are supposed to be their own hair (before/after styling & dye jobs LOL) but also cosplay wigs. All of them DO have their own eyes - that stay with them - except for Chloe - I've yet to settle on a pair of eyes that TRULY fit her :( - but they all apparently have contacts for cosplay as well LOL

    7. I redress my dolls pretty frequently. Some are better chameleons than others and have lots of different looks, while others have a very specific character or style and don't have as many outfits. I only have a couple of dolls who change wigs frequently; all the others have pretty much found their forever hair. I rarely change eyes if I can possibly help it because I feel like it takes me forever to get them positioned correctly and I think that eyes can completely change the character of a doll.

I have tons of clothes and shoes and love to constantly find new outfits. Clearly I need to buy more dolls, right?

    8. I only have a dress and a blouse for my girl at the moment - but I think once I find/make her an outfit I think suits her character I'll leave it on her most of the time when she's just sitting around. But who knows! I am looking forward to dressing her up and taking lots of photos - so maybe I'll be changing her clothes regularly!
I'll probably do it to suit my mood.

Part of me wants her to have an outfit for every occasion and dress her accordingly and even put her in PJs and stuff and tuck her into bed - but knowing me that won't happen ahahahh!

    9. I change outfits about once a month or more but I change wigs all the time! But then I'm constantly making new wigs so I just have o try them on. Then I change eyes if a wig seems to call for a different color.
Knowing I don't change clothes often has made me rethink the outfits I make. I used to make single pieces like jeans, t shirts, lingerie for everyone but now I've been concentrating on highly detailed, intricate one of a kind outfits for each doll.

    10. How long do YOU usually keep your dolls in a specific character or outfit?
i change my msds outfit's very often and my yosd every once in a while but is just their outift not their characters
Do you dress in a character or favorite outfit and leave them alone...next to forever? or..
      No particular character
Do you change outfits OFTEN, but at the same time retaining the character? (keeping within the 'persona' you have chosen for your doll when selecting new outfits) yes
Or does it even matter ~ and you just change characters/clothing randomly to suit your mood? Not really

    11. Yes I do! I love to change my doll's outfits! Every time we go out for pictures or to another doll meet I have to change their clothes!

    12. I change my doll's clothes probably once a week. I find it relaxing to "play dress up", and I get bored of an outfit, if she wears it too long. It's fun to mix it up. :)

    13. This is such a fun question!

I tend to redress my dolls once a month or every couple of weeks. I'm usually pretty busy with work and grown-up responsibilities T___T and i just fall asleep as soon as I'm sitting still for 5 mins, haha!
But usually my dolls have a character that sort of develops, and they only really like certain clothes. So I can't just dress them willy-nilly or they seem to get mad at me, hahaha (yep, self admitted crazy doll lady here!)

My girlfriend on the other hand redresses her dolls several times a day, haha! (Not all of them thankfully, that would take forever! But just one or two that she is playing with that day).
She also understands my crazy doll lady mentality, hahaha. All of our dolls seem to develop their own personalities :) It is probably really strange to hear us talking about them!

    14. I dont have much clothes for my bjds, but I often take Felix's clothes and put them on Momo or viceversa xDDD
I like to see them with different clothes and styles, I like to see them dressed different from time to time >w<

    15. Depends on the doll really! If they do have a set character I try to dress them in character....haha, however, that tends to not be the case though-- My 70cm girl is more business like but I currently have her in pink and frills! I tend to change her more than all of my dolls because she tends to be spoiled in the clothing department. I have another doll that I like to strictly dress in a Victorian style, not because of character, I just really like how it looks on that doll. For the most part I really just dress them to my liking..and pretty much change them for photos or if they get new clothes.

    16. I usually change their clothes when I get them new outfits then they stay in that outfit until I get new things... Unless it's a really expensive outfit that I'd rather keep in a box. Then I just change them back to whatever they were wearing.

    17. I like to change outfits pretty regularly but my girl's hands are a real pain to take off so that really limits the kinds of tops she wears.

    18. I usually got no more than two or three days before I change their clothes. Sometimes it will take two or three outfits before I decide on one, and then they're good to go for a little while.

    19. I change them a lot too x3 I don't know j guess it's cause for me it's like their little people or the fact that since they are always out in display I get tired of seeing them wearing the same thing all the time x3 plus I enjoy dressing them up lots x3 it's a very fun part of the hobby x3

    20. I rarely changed my crew's clothes unless I take them out for a photo session.
