1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you still have your first doll?

Oct 25, 2019

    1. Yep, I still have her. I've only had Annalise for a year and a half. I think I'll keep her for a long time.

    2. The first doll I ordered was Dollzone Carter. I still have him. I don't sell my dolls.

    3. I sure do! My interest in her reignited recently, so I'm currently planning a new faceup for her...maybe a new wig too?

It doesn't feel like I've been in the hobby long, but when I pulled her back out recently, she seems to have a bit of yellowing compared to the pictures I took when I first got her. I did it! My doll is officially old! Exciting ~

    4. No, I no longer have my first doll.
I wasn't bonding with her from the beginning, but it was kinda my fault because I ordered her bald and without face-up thinking I'd be able to buy stuff for her before she arrived and I couldn't. Months went on till I had her with a proper wig and a face-up, but the damage was already done. I was about to give up on this hobby and thinking about selling and not looking back, I saw an also face-up-less head in the second-hand market and I fell in love with. I bought it in a whim an put it temporarily in the body of my first doll, and even without a face-up I couldn't stop loving her.
Head and body were sold separately almost 10 years ago because I used the body for a while (till I found a better one) but had no use for the head, so there's no way for me to know what became of them.

    5. I do! She's is an Obitsu Gretel, originally on an Obitsu 60cm body that later got put on an AOD body, and now has her forever body (Loongsoul).

    6. Yes, I do! :sumomo:

My very first doll was a Doll in Mind (DIM) Persia. He turned 18 years old this past March. And, he’s still all original; same face-up, original gray glass eyes, and DIM wig. He’s in great shape for an old single-jointed doll. :thumbup

He has such a sweet face, and I have such incredible nostalgia for my early dolls; I don’t think I could ever sell him.

He was my first love. :aheartbea

    7. I don't have him anymore. He was a Loongsoul Reno. I really did love him, his sculpt was gorgeous, but he was way too big for me. He was traded for a smaller doll and accessories, which has been much easier for me to deal with size wise.

    8. No doll yet for me, so I can't say, but it's so nice to see that so many people still have their first doll from a decade ago.

    9. My first doll was a DOD Lahoo, I rehomed him a few years ago after 13 years. I have many fond memories of the time we spent together but my aesthetic preferences had changed over the years and I was no longer playing with him much. Happened to see a WTB thread on DoA just when I was considering putting up a sale thread, responded to the thread and sold him to a very lovely member. I’m sure he’s more appreciated where he is now than if I had continued to keep him (:

    10. Yes! My first doll is an HZ (Heisejinyao Ziyulinglong) Boss.

After 13 years of having him, he finally got a makeover. He just got a new faceup thst was commissioned back in January/February, and I'm currently waiting on his new wig and clothes!

His original faceup/look is my profile picture :)

...Nope, although I certainly don't regret starting with him. Resin Soul Long, bought mostly because he was one of the cheapest elf SDs I knew of at the time, and I could get him in fantasy skin. If I had my way, I would have gone for something more expensive first, but I was at the mercy of my family and 'proving' to them that this new hobby was a worthwhile investment. (It was my money, but somehow that still wasn't good enough.)

While the sentiment of keeping your first doll is awesome, and it's better if you can start off with something you really wanted, I also think your tastes and collection should be allowed to evolve, and you should never feel forced to keep things just because they're milestones. Keep them because you want to, and you enjoy them.

I still have my third MSD, my first floating head (Now a full doll), and I replaced my first YoSD with the same sculpt in the colour I wanted some years ago. It can take a few tries to find dolls that stick.

    12. I own his head again. I gave him to a friend years ago, for a project for another friend. Finally the project was never done, and I asked my friend if I could have his head back. Out of sentimentality. It was a Doll In Mind Galahad, and I used his head as crash test for modification, so he is quite different from what he was.

I sometimes wonder if it would be a nice idea to give him a body again. But he has such a huge head he doesn't fit anymore in my collection...

    13. Yes I do, sort of. Although she wasn’t the first BJD I bought she was the first I received as I adopted her from another member who also lived here in the UK so technically she’s my first doll. I’ve had her over 14 years but I’m sure her previous owner bought her when Pukipuki were first released by Fairyland.
Patticake is the ‘Pipi’ sculpt and was originally WS but has yellowed over the years.
This is an old photo, I redid her faceup a few years ago but haven’t taken many new pictures of her.

    14. I do still have my first doll - he's my little icon on this site! Ah, my dear Basil Vincent, adore him.

    15. I do. My first is a Doll Zone Hid who I got in August of 2008. I also got 3 more over the years and now have 4 (none are the same character) and I still adore him as much as the first time I saw him on JunkySpot's site all those years ago.

    16. Nope! I got my first BJD when I was 15 years old. I bought him second-hand because I really wanted a BJD, and he was affordable. I was not very keen on him, so eventually, he was sold. No regrets!

Almost a decade later, I'm happy I can own dolls that I actually want rather than opting for what I can afford.

    17. Nope! My first doll was a Luts KDF Cherry, who ended up being too small and immature for my taste. I gifted her to a friend so she could go on to be their first doll, too <3

    19. My first BJD was a Lati Blue Shaina and I still have her!
I had looked at different BJD at the time, but they hadn't seemed to be quite worth the prize. I didn't have a lot of money and every decision had to be carefully made. For a long time I couldn't do anything but reading up and enjoying the hobby through others. But she was the first I felt was really worth the money to me personally, the first that wasn't just "nice doll, but too expensive" but reached into the teritory of "I need this doll, how can I afford her?"

I still have her, nearly two decades later and while I now have several other dolls that are very special to me for their own reasons, she is still my favourite if I had to name one.

    20. I don't have it anymore, it was a raurencio studio megumi, today it's with a friend. I no longer have the desire to collect dolls smaller than msd. :)
