1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Do you take along your dolls on holiday?

Jun 8, 2014

    1. I did this and it was funny. The funniest thing was to see the people around me- wondering what I am doing there

    2. I've never had the opportunity to, but I don't think I would either way. I'd be worried about leaving them in hotel rooms and I tend to like to get outdoors a lot if I am away so it wouldn't be the most ideal situation to be carrying round one of my BJD peeps!

    3. Yes, I take my dolls with me on vacations, out to dinner, camping, to doll shows, occasionally to work, and sometimes to my knitting group. My friends enjoy seeing them.

    4. I always take a doll with me to vacation. It's super fun, but sometimes the security going through your bags gives you odd looks. Before I had bjds, I had Pullips, and one time a museum security guard and I got into a conversation about her sister's Blythe and Pullip dolls in the security line!

    5. I would love to take my dolls with me on vacation! But my hubby or family always stops me, saying I'd prolly lose them or something. :pout:

    6. I took my doll on holidays with me once back when I got her. It was a bit awkward through the airport (carryon has to go through an x-ray in Aus even for domestic, I don't know about anywhere else) and they shot me funny looks but didn't say anything. Aside from that, it was plenty of fun to take her to the top half and relax with her after a busy day at a con (didn't take her because I was too scared of breaking her, still a baby in the hobby at that time).

    7. >_> I have yet to go on a really, real vacation since I started this hobby... Usually it's just small daytrips to relatively close-by places. This year though, we're going to go to the shore for a few days, so I would LOVE to bring my wather-themed Soom centaur along for the ride there. Unfortunately, even though I have his outfit made, he's just a floating head with no wig or eyes! :sweat

But other than that, I will probably be planning to bring along whichever of my dolls is the most-recently completed one to just keep in our hotel room. :)

    8. I have brought a tiny (puki/realpuki size) or two on vacation or while traveling with me, but I have yet to take any of my bigger dolls along.

    9. I've been taking dolls along on all our trips the past five years, but we have an RV, so that makes it way easier to take along a group of dolls and all their props. I prefer MSD and smaller, and have made special padded boxes for them that stack nicely in the overhead cupboards. Usually I take a group of 5 or 6 dolls along, and there's been some amazing photo opportunities.

    10. I take them on day trips usually just meetups. When I'm on vacations I'm usually with my family so I wanna focus on them and not my dolls. I would like to, just.. Never the right trip comes up.

    11. What is this thing you speak of? This vacation... I do not understand.

Seriously, I would take one or two of my dolls with me if I ever had the opportunity to take a vacation.

    12. Usually when I travel I tend to take my smaller BJDs with me. All mine are tiny BJDs so they aren't that heavy to carry around.

    13. I did take Max on a weekend trip and got lots of cool pictures. It was so much fun I decided that each doll will need a chance to go! I was maybe a bit unusual that I didn't leave him in the room or in the car in spite of his size--I carried him with me at all times in my backpack so I didn't miss anything, so he ended up coming with me on a number of hikes and I even ended up dragging him up a mountain. If one plans to do something like this with an SD+ a backpack is a far better idea than a classic doll carrier as it makes it far easier to tote around your doll. It's safer, as well, as they have a way lower chance of being slammed into something. Max was additionally protected on my trip by the padding from my cold weather gear.

Interestingly, although he was in my carry on he didn't raise any suspicions at all. Literally no one mentioned him, and I went through like...six separate X-ray machines throughout the trip. :?

    14. This year I really want to take one of my dolls to go on vacation with me but still have to think much because he is a bit big and heavy and must be really careful to avoid from any damage. My dolls are just too dear to me...

    15. Haven't taken my dolls with me on one of my abroad adventures, (probably since I hardly go on vacation haha) but I'd like too ^^
I would even try to get in contact with other doll owners in the area where I would go, you never know if you take home a new friendship :)

    16. I took my tiny Doll Leaves Leo to Disney World this past January! I thought I'd bring her with me into the park areas and take some picture with her, but I knew she'd have to be in my bag for most of the day and that she could get tossed around in their when we went on some of the faster rides, so I ended up leaving her in the hotel room for the entire trip, but it was nice having her along anyway! :)

    17. I just did!
I love to take outdoor photos, so I take at least one doll with me, whenever possible. Hardly ever get the chance though. I travel quite a bit with my band, but it's too dangerous to take BJDs on tour. I did take my tiny boy once, but haven't had the time to take photos.
On vacation, I can usually spend a lot of time to explore the environment and to pose my dolls. I also find that hikes are more exciting when I take a doll while looking for doll-sized spaces and details. Carrying more than one doll plus camera and equipment is an issue though …

    18. My Girl is in my backpack to go visit my mum as we speak (not really a holiday though) but i would love a tiny to travel with me!

    19. When I was a lot younger I would regularly travel with my dolls. Whether I was going on vacation, to a convention, or just to the park, I would bring my doll(s) in a basket and carry them around for photo ops in cool locations.

As I've gotten older, I've become less and less interested in traveling with my dolls and would much rather leave them at home and not have to worry about them. I think this is for a lot of reasons. For one, I've gotten to this point where I'm packing lighter and lighter with each passing year, and traveling with BJD's is decidedly not packing light. Two, BJD's attract a lot of attention, attention that I've become less interested in attracting in my older, less conspicuous years. Finally, traveling is when BJD's seem to get the most damage. From scuffs and scraps to broken fingers, I've lived through lots of resin nightmares and I'd really rather not do that again. It would be one thing to take my dolls to a convention (and I'm honestly not ok with the idea of taking them to anime conventions anymore) or to the park for the express purpose of photography, but other than that I'd rather leave them at home.

    20. If we only do surface travel, in the car or camper, I do. If we fly, I really need to think about it. If I do take one or two, it needs to be minis at most. I once tried a carry on with two of my SD's and the weight was over what the airline allowed for carry on. (Yes, they weighed carry ons.)
