1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. 1. Haha, I'm sorry. I simply cannot let this go. It's NOT the company's fault for expanding their line and doing business. Business is business. As usual. There's nothing immoral or unfair about a company doing business. Nor do I believe you have any right to be angry about it.

Even if you're a kid with a part-time job, if Amber isn't important enough for you to spend the time and effort to get her, maybe she's not so important after all. Trust me, where there's a will, there's a way. If there's no will, who cares about the way?

Ha...It's just like those GM workers who were overpaid to begin with and didn't prepare properly for the future, are now griping and blaming others. It's nobody's fault that they didn't prepare. You never hear them say how much money they made before the recession hit. All you ever hear is about how they're so devastated now. But I digress. That's another topic entirely..

Your finances are your own responsibilities to manage. Nobody else is going to do it for you, as I'm sure you know. It isn't anyone's responsibility to make sure that you manage your accounts well enough to have money saved up for a rainy day (or in this case, your dream doll) whenever it occurs.

    2. No, they shouldn't. If yes, all the mystery and charm of LE will go away.

    3. I have two limiteds and it's not because I wish to covet rare dolls, the molds just happen to be perfect for my characters. Spending the extra money on them was a bit annoying but I wanted them bad enough, so I did. Even saying that, if the doll was released originally as a limited, it should stay a limited. I would be upset I had to find extra money during a short release period only to have the doll re-released for less later. Of course, it does happen and there's nothing we can do about it. I'm not angered when a company does, these are their creations and they're in full right to do as they wish with them.

    4. I don't think they should re release limiteds. It's unfair. ( Although I still want them to lol )
I just don't see the point of making them limited in the first place, from the companies point of view.
I also don't think their value will keep going up. BJDs aren't going to be popular forever.

It seems like a lose-lose to me.
Except for the ones who buy them, hoard them for a year or two, and sell them for 2-3 times the price. They win.

    5. Is it a lose lose if someone paid the extra cash for the LE, because they loved the doll and it brings them enjoyment? Not everybody buys dolls thinking of resale value or worrying about how much they spent--they just really love sculpt and it's worth it to them. It's impossible to tell how valuable various dolls will be in the future--various aesthetic trends will go in and out of popularity and engineering will change, but it's really no different for other collectibles, somethings are hard to predict, but that doesn't mean that buying the doll isn't worth while or that the bjd hobby will suddenly dry up.

For people who like going after limiteds, releasing LEs can increase excitement about a company, and as been said multiple times before, it gives companies a chance to create more difficult or intricate dolls/sets that might not be reasonable to release in large numbers. If it didn't work for companies, then all their dolls would be standard editions.

    6. This is a rather touchy subject I beleive. I think in certain cases a re-release may be warrented but at the same time they are limited for a reason. They are meant to be special which is why they were limited in the first place. I do have that lust for limiteds which I can no longer get because I entere into the doll community later but at the same time it was meant to be limite and lust worthy. In some cases I o beleive it is alright for a re-release such as when elfdoll relesed the Twiggy head/doll it sold out so fast I couldn't beleive it. I checke the site an she wasn't on it the next day I checke the site she was gone. It was sad :( They re-released her with the same noteworthy reaction from the buyers, but I would'nt want anouther release of this girl because everytime a new re-release come around it takes away from the specialness it had in the first place

    7. Even though there are a few dolls I'd like to have remade, but definitely no, because it would defeat the meaning and purpose of "limited edition" if the product was ever re-released again.
And dolls are luxury goods, not a necessity item. If you missed out, then better luck next time or go hunt in the second hand marketplace is how I see it. =)

    8. No, I think not to restock the limiteds. Why else are they called limiteds, there is a reason for.:)

    9. No, i think the company should not restock the limited dolls, because i think that will hurt the feelings of the people who own the limited doll....like me.,...
But i can accept that use the same name but may be the face of the limited doll got a little change.

    10. Well i like a doll because i like the doll, not because it is a "limited edition". I don't have dolls to show off or compare to others' dolls. It is a private hobby and i have them because they make me happy. it's not like it's a handbag that I"m toting down the street and have to worry about every other single person carrying. So in that sense, i really don't care except for it is frustrating to fall in love with a doll only to see it was a LE and is no longer made.

From a business perspective, if keeping it LE keeps interest up and prices high, then do it. If there is enough interest in having a re-release, then do it! If there is concern about which one is the "real" LE, just mark it as being a 2nd edition or something.

I Just don't really see the point of getting upset about it one way or another. If a collector wants a unique doll, just have one made custom. If a collector is upset over not being able to get a particular doll, take heart in the fact that more beautiful dolls will come out and there will be another one to capture your heart, and you may be able to find the initial doll second hand.

    11. No, I do not think that limited dolls should be restocked.

I am currently saving up for a LE doll (a Volks Hinaichigo). Now, would I like her for what the original price was? Sure, however, I missed that chance. It's not the end of the world and if I really want her, I'll save up the money.

Now, when the time comes that I have her (if that happens/I don't change my mind, haha) and she were re-released, I would be pretty pissed because of all the work I'd done to save up for her only to have her cost less later on.

    12. I don't think a company should restock their limited edition dolls.

They wouldn't remain "limited" if they did that. Isn't that part of what makes a collectible limited - a low supply? Just my thoughts.

And just to clarify, to me "limited edition" suggests that only a certain number will be created before the mold is broken and that the company does not intend to produce him or her again after that time period.

    13. No I don't think that if they re-released a limited, that will decrease a limited's value. For a limited is something in the dollie world where it is released once and when it's gone thats it. So making it again just disrespects that and decreases it's value.

    14. I guess it really depends...
I am partial to thinking that the limited dolls are more special... so they should remain that way.

but at the same time, i have always wanted certain dolls that i will never own because of this... so it makes me really sad

    15. I find it interesting how close the poll is! It looks like this issue is almost evenly split.

    16. I understand the idea of limited edition, although it definitely can be a kick to the butt when you've missed out. Particularily if it's a mold that doesn't come around often, or a skintone.Still, if you really want a LE you'll have to hunt and save. I did so before myself for a different type of doll. You may never get the one you want but the upside and truth is that they aren't necessities.

    17. Well, this has been a useful read. When I open my doll company next year, I plan on selling a very limited run of fullsets with the unlimited option to buy just the doll, with normal faceup and blushing options. The unique, OOAK faceups and clothing and character cards is what will make the limiteds special. :kitty2

    18. Although I haven't seen a single LE doll that I've fallen in love with, I do understand the feeling of when you lose out on a doll that just takes your breath away.

Although it feels entirely unfair to be on the recieving end of that, it makes the LE dolls more valuable and precious, and having it hit the market again for mass purchase competely defeats the point of a doll being LE. Releasing a special variation of an old LE is fine, but the whole package? No.

    19. I sometimes wish the molds would still be available, but the fullset be limited. Normally when a limited mold comes out, I do not have the funds to buy it, and so I end up missing out. I do understand why they do it though, so it isn't a huge deal.

So anymore if I want a mold that is in limited number I have been looking to minimees ... then I can help choose the features I want :D

    20. I don't have a problem with re-releasing limiteds. It would still be limited but it gets people to come back to the shop (I think anyway!) I only own one LE but it'd be cool to let people have another chance sometimes :)
