Do you trust your doll to stand?

Jul 20, 2016

    1. I wouldn't recommend it, but it can still work. I've been keeping my Littlefees on a TV stand that they can't fall off of, and I've left them standing a few times. Leaving them sitting does cause the elastic to stretch - Clara, my Ante, was posed sitting for quite a long time, and her elastic became quite loose. She badly needs to be restrung, but I'm too nervous for that. Cynthia - my Cygne - on the other hand, has been posed both sitting and standing and hasn't yet loosened at all in comparison to how quickly Clara did. They both stand quite sturdily, but I don't like leaving them standing because there's the risk that they could fall over and damage their faces. The ideal solution would be a doll stand, but it does take away from their realism.

    2. Its sad to admit, but I not once thought about getting a doll stand for my BJDs! My small collection consists of 3 LUTS dolls and they are real solid standers. They've all came strung well from the factory and I've not had to redo them. For the most part, my dolls are displayed standing on top of my dresser (with no other items). I don't frequently have visitors to my doll room, so not much moving around happens to really disturb them. With that being said, I've opened and closed the dresser drawers pretty roughly without thinking much about the standing dolls and they've not taken a tumble. I don't recommend this to anyone; just sharing my experience Lol.

    3. I am so glad you said this about storing a doll in the sitting position. I didn't even think of that. I guess I will eventually have to invest in some good doll stands and change how I store them from time to time.

    4. It's something I actually haven't seen people mention, which I find a bit odd, as it's something discussed quite often in other doll communities. I suppose other people don't find restringing as daunting as I do, so they aren't terribly bothered by the elastic loosening. But yes, I'd highly recommend a doll stand, though to be honest, I hadn't even thought about that myself until recently...I forgot they existed, XD.

    5. I trust some of mine to stand unaided for a photo. Otherwise I keep them seated. I've only ever left my 11cm Puki Puki standing for any length of time, since they're small enough not to get damaged if they topple over.

    6. I have a MiniFee Chloe, and while MiniFee's generally stand pretty well, this one desperately needs a restring lol. I just have her sit down whenever I don't store her in her box

    7. I'd never trust any of my dolls to stand when I'm not close by. That's not to say that they can't, some of them are very able. I'm just not willing to risk leaving them in a position they could easily slip from when my back is turned! :ablink:

    8. I don't trust my dolls to stand. All my dolls are on doll stands in my shelf.
I bought several solid wood stands for porcelain dolls. They are very sturdy and the bases are bigger than the usual bjd stands.
The wire goes around the hip and there is rubber on the ends of the wire. I also bought a stand from dollmore. I don't like this stand, because the base is not big enough and easily fell over with the doll.

    9. I let them stand by themselves, when I am taking pictures. sometimes they topple, but I am there to catch them... (most of the time). Luckily when I missed the catch they didn't break!

I have little seats for all of them, chairs and sofas for the YOSD's and smaller. Them MSD's sit on a shelf, and the The SD's have their own chairs. The SD-70cm ones sit on small crates, because I haven't found the right furniture for them.

No matter how good they seam to be at standing, I wouldn't trust them for long periods of time. Maybe I am a little paranoid, but I just don't trust them that much to behave by standing long periods of time. :XD:

    10. I don't trust mine to stand, but I'm paranoid. :huh?:

    11. It depends on the body I think. Some stand firmly, other are always trying to fall. In fact, I don't fully trust any of my dolls

    12. Not really. :sweat But when taking photos, I always promise my favorite girl shoes when she will stand nicely and not fall.
Fortunately for Zaolls, there are few shoes. That is my great happiness, ha ha

    13. I trust my dolls to stand as that is like my bare minimum acceptability for a doll body, but long-term I always use a stand since they can get bumped and stuff.

    14. For a few minutes in a photoshoot, I definitely trust my dolls to stand. For weeks or months on a shelf? Heck no, I'm putting dolly in a chair!

    15. Welp, I'm starting to order doll stands for my Crew. I'm still getting used to the idea of them standing in a yet-to-be-bought glass case. Of course, some will more than likely be sitters as well, since I should still have room on top of my wardrobe for a few.

    16. I do- but maybe that's because I'm new and big dumb?

    17. With something small like a PukiFee, I might consider leaving it standing, but typically I make sure they all sit or are propped up against something. I've heard horror stories about breaks, scratches, and chips, and I paid way too much money to be miserable at breaking something.

    18. It depends which doll. Most of them can stand pretty well on their own, but I'm really scared with my Lillycat Ellana :shudder She's on the old Lune body, which I absolutely love, but she always want to cross her legs, so I prefer keeping her in a sitting position most of the time :3nodding:
I don't display my doll standing, I only make them stand for pictures. When I store them, it's in a sitting position ;)

    19. I might trust a doll to stand if it was leaning against something but only for a short photo session. I feel more at ease when they are in seated poses. I do intend to make some stands for them, especially the SD sized ones, and I bought some dowel rods for that project.

    20. I barely trust them to sit without hurling themselves off a nonexistent edge :|
