Do you trust your doll to stand?

Jul 20, 2016

    1. Not really. The most stable doll i have is a 73cm loongsoul. I would love to display him standing (with saddle stand) but I'm still not sure lol he's heavy.

    2. I've got to agree with everybody that's saying no! While some of my dolls can certainly stand for photoshoots, I live with a very curious cat and she's a pro at knocking things over. Plus, some of my dolls have delicate parts and I would probably cry if they landed weirdly and broke them *_*

    3. I've glued too many fingers back in place after even the slightest tumble to give any other answer than a resounding 'HELL no'. Supervised while taking photos is one thing, but display vanity is another, and all my girls are left sitting when unattended for their safety and my sanity alike. Those of you that do... well, you're definitely gutsier than me. *_*

    4. There's only 1 doll in my gang I trust to be standing while "resting"/on display and that's my Customhouse Junior Ai Yeondu who is super sturdy but wears knee-high boots that keep her joints locked just in case. I used to take her to college and she'd stand on my desk for pretty much the entire day so I'm confident that she'd be fine without the boots but her brothers (a Yeonu and a Marco also from Customhouse) are both so kicky and fussy that I don't want to risk their attitude brushing off on her :sweat

    5. I haven’t gotten my dolls yet but I don’t ever plan on letting them stand on their own unless I’m doing photos for them. I have 2 dogs who run in and out of my room and sometimes they even bump into my computer tower shaking it (but thankfully never knocking it over).

And considering this hobby is super expensive, I don’t ever want to risk them falling and breaking or chipping. I’ve never been the type of person to send things off so if they chip or break I would have so many trust issues sending them to be repaired or fixed.. and that’s lately because whenever I order something weather it’s Amazon, clothes sometimes but not often my package gets lost and I do get refunded but if my 600$ doll gets lost or stolen I’ll be petty and pissed and leave the hobby.. I’m just weird lol

But honestly I just want them to be safe all the time.. so a stand I will be getting

    6. I live in a place where there's frequent earthquakes, so some are leaning and most are sitting. Don't want any damage!

Just realized stands are an option for some of them....:doh

    7. My DDs are awesome standers and I don't mind taking pictures with them standing for long periods of time unassisted, but my whole collection gets relegated to being part of the seated squad otherwise. I'm too paranoid about them falling over and breaking! I play with letting my resins stand, but never long term and they're usually leaning against something.

    8. For a short time, like while I'm taking a picture, I have no problem with it.

If not, they are sitting on their couch or using a saddle stand.

    9. Nah...I'm too paranoid about them falling off my shelf and banging their faces in my desk to let them stand without any support. My first girl bowed a lot before I had to restring and wire her and I don't want to take any chances.

    10. No, this makes me really nervous that she will fall and break. I use the Angell Studio doll stand with my BJD and the other is sitting on top of a stack of books.

    11. No, not at all :XD: Even if I put them in that pose, I'm worried that just breathing will make them fall so I haven't left them not sitting and leaning against something. I am looking into doll stands for if I decide to keep them in a standing pose, but I usually finagle with them at some point in the day just to enjoy them. :chibi

    12. I have 2 fairyland dolls and i know they're excellent posers, but I'm just unable to pose them well so it;s less the dolls and more me unable to find the center of gravity....tho my mnf shiwoo is on a VERY OLD and somehow tight B-line body so all he can do is stand...i am never very far away from him when I do stand him and it takes A LOT of patience but he's semi decent. I should invest in a doll stand though.

    13. 4 years later, all of my dolls can stand even if I just leave them there except for my very loose Delf and Souldoll.
The only one that is kind of finicky is one of my Bimong girls because of her knee joints. I still prefer them sitting though, so i guess maybe I only trust them a little

    14. Absolutely NOT. My reasoning is half cats and half ancient, single-jointed dolls with questionable construction. XD I don't display a doll standing unless it has a stand and is behind glass.

    15. I never left dolls free-standing when I wasn't working with them; however the first 5 years or so of collecting, I took some big chances while doing photo stories. There was one heart-stopping moment when the opposite end dolls in a tableau on my dining room buffet both decided to fall at the same time, and I could only grab the closest one  Eventually I lost my nerve and resorted to stands in stories, and Photoshop to mitigate the stands. A lot of work, but better than mending a doll ;)

    16. I would absolutely not trust mine to stand, no way lmao! I mean, I know my honey delfs can stand pretty well, but I wouldn't turn my back on them. Plus, I think they're cute sitting anyway!

    17. Depends how much I spent on the doll. LOL.

    18. My Lati Yellow did a face plant on a hard table and it took off a tiny spot of lip color so I might be less trusting and more careful to take photos on a softer surface. On display I use props to keep them standing or they are sitting since the cabinet they are in is a hard surface. I might use a stand on a taller doll if I don’t want them sitting.

    19. Some of my dolls buckle at the knee the very second you even THINK of letting go of them I don't trust these little jerks for a second :XD:

    20. Most of the time I avoid letting my dolls stand alone. One of my dolls nicely breaks his nose on the floor last time I let him stand. He had a crack on the nose, and I needed to sand it down (and of course to redo his faceup). :sweat
Some of my dolls are great posers and I may trust them to stand during a photoshoot, but no longer! And I know precisely which dolls can stand and which can't.
