1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Do you trust your doll to stand?

Jul 20, 2016

    1. Yes. All my minifees can stand perfectly on their own.

    2. Some company made them can stand, so I will check my dolls carefully if they can stand or not

    3. I trust most of my dolls to stand for short times, such as during photographing them and sometimes leaving them like that while I take a break, but I would not leave a doll standing on it's own for long term display. I may leave them leaning firmly on something, but otherwise it's either stands or posing them sitting down.

Even if some of them probably could stand unsupported for years on end, there is still always the risk of something knocking the shelf or even shakes in the ground due to heavy traffic, nearby construction work or other uexpected things like that. Add to that the fact that the elastic does deteriorate over time, making even the tightest doll looser as time goes by. A doll who can stand like a rock today may be less stable a year from now and what if I forget to check that regularly? Sooner or later the friction in the joints will not be enough to support the doll anymore and down she goes.
      Simply not worth it.

For conventions I always use stands or furniture like chairs. Not just to protect the dolls, but so that people coming up to the table or wanting to take a closer look at an exhibition are not afraid to get in close and take in the details. I put a lot of work into those and I'd hate it if people miss out because they fell they have to be overly cautious. For exhibitions I try to make the stands as discrete as possible, but for the table I honestly rather that they can be seen. Convention tables are not the most robust of furniture and everybody knows it, bumps will happen.

    4. When I first get my dolls, yes, they could stand, although I would never be far away just in case they toppled over. But now, they are all so old, the elastic has deteriorated and they all desperately need to be re-strung. I'm just trying to build up the courage to attempt it myself.

    5. No. The $$$ alone makes me as wary as a mother with a newborn.

    6. Not at all. I hover near them whenever I have them standing, because I have had them pitch over with zero warning many times before. They're really not the best at standing :sweat Even if they were better at it, I still wouldn't leave them standing all the time because I'm paranoid.

    7. Hehe, not really! All of my dolls are on stands (the kind that wraps around the waist). They’re also kept in a display case, so even in the rare event that their stands fail them, they’d probably only fall against the walls of the display case. And I have a soft faux fur “rug” beneath them, which is further protection!

I might (and that’s a strong “might”) trust them for a few seconds or minutes if I want to take a picture, but I get so paranoid because of the couple close calls I’ve had.

I think I want to buy one of those special “invisible” stands with the bendable arm that allows you to pose your doll in more dynamic ways. I can easily photoshop the stand out, so it wouldn’t be an issue. :3nodding:

    8. Absolutely not! :sweat I live in earthquake country (to say nothing of my cats), so even if a doll can stand pretty solidly, I wouldn't risk it. Depending on the location I'll trust one to stand for photos, but I'll never leave him upright unattended.

    9. My Migidoll BJD stands just fine, but I only have him standing if I'm taking photos of him. I would love to leave him standing in general but I would need to acquire a really good, trustworthy doll stand for him. My Ringdoll BJD on the other hand always bent over. So I'm extra cautious with him. I have to keep in mind that in the instant see him move I'll have to drop whatever is in my hands to catch him. I had to do that once before and oh boy was that a scare. Oh, and of course I only have him standing when taking photos of him as well. Usually I like to have them sitting or stored away in their boxes!

    10. Not really! Too paranoid that as soon as I turn my back for too long that they'll get the idea to fall over and land on their face. I can let them stand on their own for when I pose them for a pic but I'd never let them stand unsupervised.

    11. I will stand them for pictures, but that’s it. I’ve learned the hard way not to leave them standing on display, multiple times. Not going to do it again.

    12. I think it's not a good idea to stand dolls without dollstand. But I think they can be stand without dollstand for short time - for photos, as example

    13. Other than my Dollzone Scorpio Aggi who has a lot of extra legs, the only dolls I can trust to stand for very long are my two Bobobie tinies. Those two could stand like rocks right out of the box, especially my elfkin Leif, he even managed standing through a few earthquakes we had a couple of years back.
otherwise for now, dolls are pretty much stuck sitting or lying down until I get some stands with the exception of short photo shoots.

    14. LoL, same!

    15. Only certain animal dolls that stand on four legs LOL, otherwise I might trust my Akagidoll body to stand for a few minutes for a photo... not if I leave the room though!! No way omg!

    16. oh, god no. i have... mmmaybe one doll i'd trust to stand independently for a minute or two, but the sheer fear of something breaking keeps them in permanent recumbency if i'm not handling them. i've considered buying doll stands but i can't justify the money, haha.

    17. I don’t trust them to stand on their own. They are so expensive and delicate fingers and ears are quite fragile. If I have to, I will lean them against something. But I prefer to have them on a doll stand or sitting down.

    18. I don't yet display them due to lack of space for a proper display cabinet, but...

... yeah, no :XD: I trust them to stand for a short period of time, and most of them are pretty rock solid standers...

... but I live with three cats, a 3.5 year old, and a husband whose footsteps are so heavy it sounds like he stomps everywhere, so I wouldn't dare trust them to stay standing through all that lol. Even if they lasted standing on their own for a whole day, that's more of a miracle than proof of sturdiness LOL

    19. I'm not sure if I ever replied here but some dolls I do trust to stand, others I do not (looking at you Soom). Sometimes it depends on their shoes. Anyway, I do have stands. I have 2 saddle stands and very soon I will have 6 around the waist stands. Each stand has it's different pros and cons. I want all of my dolls to have a stand so I can have them all standing up on display. Plus that way, my cats are less likely to knock them over. They are on top of a piece of furniture and lately my one cat has taken to trying to get onto it.

    20. NOOO!! so scared to leave them standing because if they fall their could be cracks or marks left on noses and i would simply break down in tears.
