Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Do you trust your doll to stand?

Jul 20, 2016

    1. My dolls all stand pretty well, but I don't trust them for a minute on their own. My mini girls are on stands on their shelf, and my SD girls are sitting on the bench I made on their shelf. My Yo girl has a tiny chair. I stand them up to take pictures and stuff, but when I'm not right there to catch them, they're sitting or on a stand.

    2. I have a pair of heavy platform boots for my soulkid that are actually heavy enough for me to trust her to stand. I've noticed a lot of making 1/4th dolls stand is adjusting their center of balance. There just isn't enough resin there for "crumpling" to really be an issue, but if I put a modified 9" wig on the doll, she has to be almost doubled over forwards to balance. But yes, I would trust her to free-stand indefinitely with over-the-joint boots on. Feet with an ankle joint are just too wobbly for me to trust it on any doll really.

I think that as your doll gets larger though, it's less about balancing it and more about supporting it. I think volume-weight increases at a cube rate, while load capacity on a simple straight rig increases at a square rate.

    3. Absolutely not! They're tricksy devils and they'll stand solid until I turn my back and then nose dive off whatever surface they're on! I'm wise to their tricks. >8( I won't let them stand unless I"m close enough to catch them. If I have to leave the room, I lie them down before I do.

    4. Ayana (OnlyDoll Younan), Nova (FL Realfee Haru) and Macaron (FL ArtLine hyppogriff) stands very well, but Alicia (Luts Delf Arwen) is a bit histerical and she never wants to stand by herself... but I don't have a stand for her, so she usually just sits on their sofa.

    5. Yes and no.
I have a few dolls that stand like a rock (usually due to huge hooves), which I trust to stand on their own for a minute.
Some I don't even trust while I sit next to them.

I've learned using a stand and editing it out from pictures is definitely the best you can do.
It's less stressful, no risk to damage the doll and it can withstand even a blow of wind.

    6. Not even slightly. I never leave my dolls out of arm's reach when they're standing up, just in case I need to lunge across and save them. Although that's not always enough; the other day I was sat on the (carpeted) floor with my Doll Chateau girl stood next to me and I turned away for a couple of seconds and BANG, she's toppled over backwards and struck a chair on the way down. But thankfully she's fine, no damage done. *_* For the most part, my dolls spend their time sat down, safely propped up against the wall.

Occasionally when I'm photographing them though, I forget to wear the strap on my camera so I'm expecting at some point to face the dilemma of a falling doll and no hands free to catch them! :shudderI need to invest in a stand pronto!

    7. No i don't My doll do as she please and dont care if i want to make a photo, she just decided in that particular moment that she wanted to fall on her face and thats final:P

    8. I personally use stands. I'm not very good at getting my dolls to stand.. so when I do get them to I'm worried they won't stay very long. I don't have a very good patience with fighting them to stand. Definitely need to work on that.

At least I can customize each stand to their personalities!

When I'm not really doing anything with them though I'll sit them down for sure.

    9. Unless it is a YoSD, a smart doll, or a doll with a magnetic base, I trust no doll to stand on its own.

    10. no i dont trust it to stand and i am afraid it will fall

    11. Not right now! She needs re-strung, but before I do that I'm going to try and wire her and see if that helps.

    12. I have a mystic kids lillian & although my sister has gotten her to stand, i cant do it at all! Every time i try she just falls over

    13. Even some of my dolls who have locking knees and are the best at standing will have a doll stand to protect them, when on display. Better safe than sorry. Crushed noses don't look so sexy ;).

    14. I only have them stand if I'm taking a picture, and even then, I prefer if they are leaning or sitting on something. I do have some doll stands that I use if I go to a doll meet (I keep my dolls in boxes at home, due to our cats).

    15. Yes, but mostly no.
Mine stand OK well with no stand with heavy, platform, flat sole shoes on and would allow him to stay like that for photos for awhile
but moment photos stop I sit him done again~ haha, too risky! hehe

    16. Even if they stand well... I'm so scared that I hover!xD I don't use doll stands, but I make sure either myself or a friend is near by to catch them if they do fall over!

    17. My dolls stand, but most of them are sitting in the Volks sofa next to a doll sized armoire. The ones that are standing are supported by the chair, another doll, the armoire, and/or the wall so if they fall they won't get damaged. But, there is always a chance they might fall in that perfect angle that ruins their face-up or chips something, so just be careful.

    18. For the most part, heck no. It's way too easy for them to overbalance. Have my brood stood on their own? Yup, but with very close supervision. I don't stand them up and leave the room. I'm a bit overprotective like that....

    19. I have a DC kid doll with extra joints so considering that I can barely get him to stand while holding him, absolutely not. Without the extra joints he can stand better, but he's so tall and thin I wouldn't trust him to stand unsupervised or without a stand.

    20. Most of my dolls either sit or have on a stand. Even if my dolls can stand I just can't risk it. I live next to a train too so I don't know if they'll shake then fall off my shelf.
