Do you trust your doll to stand?

Jul 20, 2016

    1. Actually I never put them on their feet for more than one minute, just in case they'd fell.

    2. Well, not really. For a photoshoot for a short period of time, I have to do that. But I am very nervous then (which does not help with taking pictures). I have bought stands for all of them, as most of my crew is 60 cm or above. So if one falls, a lot of resin falls, and I hate that. So normally, they are not allowed to stand freely.

    3. Thranduil and Tom, no, because they're not stable enough. Iker can stand, mainly because he's really solid! Seriously, I love Ringdoll now! He just seems to stand really easily, and he's very stable. The other two tend to lounge around... Usually on the couch next to my mum. She tells them off if they get in the way. ;)

    4. My vinyl dolls yes buy my resin not so much since they are heavier and gravity tends to fight against them lol

    5. My Kit is a Luts Model Delf and he stands like a rock on one foot even (although I wouldn't leave him that way) but I'm always afraid :D

    6. I've had seemingly stable dolls topple during photos shoots so...no. I use doll stands unless they're in arms reach- I want to know I can rescue them if they decide they wanna do a faceplant on the wood floors.

    7. I trust Alistair to stand on his own. He has big feet, chunky legs, and he's a little on the short side. Thus I have no problem leaving him standing unattended. Alistair is my odd child, as two of my three other dolls are not to be trusted without a stand. Johnny's build is the exact opposite of Alistair's; he's tall and thin with relatively small feet and is thus quite top-heavy. He can stand, but I don't dare leave him alone without propping him up or sitting him down. Chloe is YoSD-sized and thus has less weight to balance, but her ankles like to collapse so I don't leave her. As for my last doll Johanna...well, I can't give Johanna a fair assessment yet because Johanna is a floating head! She's waiting for a Minifee girl body, a body that I have no experience with.

    8. Dont trust my bobobie sprite to stand at all. His knees are weak and I'm thinking i might need to restring him or suede him. He usually just sits and I'm fine displaying him that way.

    9. nope not at all. I had to hot glue suede her hips and knees to even get her to barely stand. I'd let her stand as long as I'm watching, but won't risk letting her stand all the time.

    10. Planetdoll MSD Riz: She can stand temporarily, but I don't trust her while I'm not looking, and she is very hard to balance.

Ancient Tales Rachel: She's about the same as MSD Riz--I wouldn't trust her alone and she is hard to balance.

Dollshe Fashion Grant Phillipe: Pretty easy to balance, but I'm only decently confident in his standing because he doesn't have far to fall. Being strung super tight helps.

      Granado Female Nuevo:
This body stands very well and is very stable in a variety of positions. I took her apart almost immediately upon receiving her though, so I'm not as familiar with her as others.

Legend Doll 70cm: This body is super stable. I can walk around in the room with it standing and it won't fall.

Supiadoll 60cm: I took this body apart before standing it up. No idea.

Dollshe 28M: He is easy enough to balance, but not very stable for long periods. More stable than Rachel and Riz, but I can't walk in the room with him standing.

Dollstown 18: This body couldn't stand at all without modifications--the knees kept buckling. I modded him, and now there is a ledge to catch. Hopefully this will help when I finally restring him.

Dollzone 71cm: This body also stands rock-steady. I don't know if I would want to vibrate the floor, however.

Impldoll 70cm (new legs + old hip and body): The old body + old legs are very sturdy, and the old body + new legs are about the same (the mismatch in the socket is mostly superficial). I am most confident in the stability of this body.

    11. I trust my doll to stand, but I have to make sure that he won't at least faceplant or fall when the table is shook-
Just for precautionary measures. ;;;; But I wouldn't leave him standing for a long time! If anything, I hope there was a wall or whatnot behind him because I don't wish to risk anything. You can never be too sure whenever a doll would decide to flop. :P

    12. I have a lot of my dolls that stand without anything holding them up. I do have a lot of them on my dresser so it might be because they are so clutter on it none of them has fallen.

    13. I would, but with so many things that could happen like people have said. Such as pets and people, I would rather use a doll stand.

    14. I trust my dolls to stand, but I also like to use stands to hold them for their security

    15. My boys are mostly 70cm+ so I'd love for them to stand by themselves but 2 have already fallen so stands it is for my boys!!

    16. My boy on the Loongsoul body I know I could trust to stand for long periods if I left him like that for a while (I left him standing once while tending to something and forgot to put him back in a sitting position, to thankfully discover him standing strong when I got back to him :sweat), but I prefer not to take my chances for extended periods of time. My cat's usually pretty good about leaving them alone, but you never know, and sometimes even the tiniest tremor in the floor from something could send any one of them tumbling, so why take a chance?

I can't really say if my others are quite as sturdy. I just know I don't want to risk it. Who knows what kind of tangled mess I could discover if I leave them like that even for a short period!

Strangely, I've had more problems with my Loongsoul boy when he's sitting than when he's standing. He took a spill in the middle of the night and dinged his ear one time out of nowhere. it was something startling to wake up to all of sudden, that's for sure:XD:

    17. None of my dolls can stand on their own. It's kind of frustrating having to prop them up, since I don't have any stands at the moment.

    18. I have one stand from Iplehouse that I use but I am not a big fan of the design. I ordered a different stand and am hoping it is better but it will be many weeks before I get that one.

    19. Liriel will just buckle and collapse lately. Pretty sure she needs to be tightened up or restrung and I'm not sure on how to do that exactly.

    20. Aelic actually stands super well. Like...ridiculously well. He hasn't been restrung since I got him five-ish years ago and he's really floppy, but I can still just plop him down on his bare feet and ninety percent of the time he stands like a rock. With shoes on he might as well be a mountain. It's honestly kind of confusing, since his knees are so kicky and his hips are super loose. I guess his body is just made that way (he's a Kid Delf). MSDs are probably easier to balance than SDs too, I'd guess. Lower center of mass.
