1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Does anyone else receive their doll and feel guilty when there's no connection?

May 18, 2016

    1. Yep, had this problem with my first ever doll.. It was a impulse buy and regretted it rather much.. nowadays I am happy that I sold her and she has a better home.. and for me it was a good lesson early on in the hobby to just buy the dolls that I feel sure about!

    2. I haven't had this happen to me yet. But I have fell out of love with a couple of my dollies. One I gave away to my mom because always liked him. The other I've placed on the MP here. Even one of my MSD I'm sitting on the fence about. I like her but I don't see myself doing anything with her other than sitting on my bookshelf collecting dust. Maybe I should try to make her clothing and buy a new wig for her (shoot maybe try to make a wig).

Even with the head sclupts I gave one away to my brother because I have no idea what sclupt it is other than it's was from DIM and a event head that I got for free, besides it's a female sclupt and I'm more partial to boys. The other two heads I've placed on the MP because I knew that I wasn't going to do anything with them and I rather see them go to someone who would appreciate them.

    3. I don't think there is any reason to feel guilty. For me personally I don't feel like there has to be a "connection" to enjoy the doll. I have lots of dolls that are only there for companions for my other dolls.

I kind of feel like for people in the hobby who are constantly exposed to the terminology of bonding with your doll it creates this mentality that when you get a doll there is supposed to be a really magical feeling, like you are bonding with a person but not.
I have never felt a bond like the one that is built up in the public eye. I adore my dolls, but I know that they are my possessions. Like any other possession I have, they have varying degrees of adoration and sentimentality.

There really isn't anything wrong with just appreciating a doll you like, you don't necessarily need a bond to enjoy them.
