1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

does anyone feel like they've spent too much money?

Jul 3, 2006

    1. lolololololololololol. YES, I feel like I've spent way too much on my dolls. But then I remember that if I was still buying new video games as often as I was before, I'd probably be spending just as much money. They are actually pretty comparably nowadays, with a single doll = a single console, clothes/shoes/wigs = individual game.

    2. I am such a tightwad that it's stopped me from buying any dolls so far. I feel bad because they are such a luxury item, I haven't seen one in person and I just don't know if I'll end up having him sit on the shelf without being loved!

    3. Soooometimes i feel like this lol since ive been out of work ive been thinking of them more in terms of money instead of "how long and how many paychecks" like before XD Ive even tallied how much money my ideal collection would be.. so Far it would be around 10,000$ total (for around 30 dolls) before clothes/acessories/shipping! lol Im about half way there.... but i try not to let it get me down. Ill have a real job someday and hopefully 10k wont seem so bad, plus, these dolls are -my-thing. My creative outlet, my biggest hobby, and in terms of how much i adore them and enjoy the hobby the money isnt all that important.

    4. All the time. xD I'm a poor high school student without a job and minimal savings for college. |':

    5. Eh....nope.

I mean yes, the dolls are expensive, and expensive dolls have expensive clothing, accessories, etc....but that's what you get into when you go into this hobby. ^^ Personally I just collect lots of things so this is not a big deal to me....I just figure the money I spend on my BJD, goes to that instead of let's say buying a figure (because i collect figures~). Also I enjoy making clothing so...I guess that helps.

    6. In some senses yes but in others no. The amount of joy I get from my dolls and the things I do with them like photographing them and sewing for them is completely worth the money I have spent. However, at this point in my life I probably shouldn't be spending anything other then for necessary things.

    7. I throw a look at my current signature and know for SURE that I've spent way too much on dolls in December. I can afford it, else I wouldn't have, but I've still spent a lot of money even to be me. XP

    8. yup l'v spent alot this month on dollfies. So no more for me intill the end of Jan.

    9. Before I got into this hobby- -my piggy bank was full 8D and I have multiple piggy banks!
After I stepped into it -_- My piggy bank deflates...
and right now = =I'm left with 1/3... OTL
Does this consider I've been spending too much? and that's within few months time =_=

    10. Um yes of course XD I spend alot of money on my dolls. But hey if it makes your life a bit easier and makes you a bit happier I say as long as your not in debt go for it ;p

    11. yes yes yes. i've spent too much. no more for me until i get the nintendo 3DS and all my stuff for taiko.

    12. Ummm I feel like I have spent a lot of money on it...but it keeps me sane during the school year. Especailly this year as I am graduating. So yah I spend a lot on it...but at the same time...I don't think over spend per month..unless I buy a doll.

    13. The only time I feel like I spent too much money is the wait between when I pay and when I receive the item, like clothes or a doll.

I'm currently waiting on a doll to arrive, so I'm constantly thinking in my head "should I have spent all that money on a doll when I could have used it elsewhere?" But once he gets here, I won't be thinking about the money anymore, and if I'm not thinking of the money I spent and instead enjoying what I bought, then it's well worth it to me.

    14. All the time! But the nice thing is, it's only money, all I have to do is go back to work and earn some more. :XD:

    15. I feel chronical that I've spent too much money.. xD

    16. I definitely spent too much money on my dolls......I am always broke :sweat

    17. I'm normally a pretty cheap person, so yeah, I did feel like I was spending way too much when I first ordered my head. I still think the idea of a ~$500 doll is ridiculous, but I can't say I regret it.

    18. Yes, they are the most expensive things I have paid in my life. LOL

    19. I usually try not to think about how much money I've spent (all told) on my dolls. I've made a list of what I want for my most recent, least complete, and soon-to-be-buying dolls and tallied everything (excluding shipping) in both how much I will spend and how much I've already spent. It scares me sometimes to see how much I've spent.

But, I would go back and buy them all again given half the chance. I'm very happy with my dolls, and don't regret them at all.

    20. Yup. Sometimes I wake up sweating in the middle of the night when my subconsciousness tells me that having to eat pancakes every day is my own fault (Just kidding, I don't eat pancakes every day!)! When that happens I tell myself that I won't buy anything for the rest of the year but next day I've forgotten all about that resolution and I'm a happy spender once again. :)
