Does asymmetry in your doll's sculpt delight or bother you?

Jul 7, 2005

    1. My doll has a slight faceup mishap from leeke, and her shimmery eyeliner goes onto her nose on one side. I think of it as a fairy kiss, and she is just perfect to me!

    2. I much prefer my dolls to be symmetrical, and I wouldn't like it if my dolls were asymmetrical because of something like poor casting. On the other hand, asymmetry can look very nice if it's done in an artistic way.

    3. i dont like imperfections @.@
Everything about a doll has to be perfectly symmetrical. (or at least as long as i cant notice anything)
If i notice even the slightest thing it starts to eat away at me and i cant stop thinking about it @.@

    4. This doesn't bother me too much - no human is perfect and symmetrical, so if there is something asymmetrical on my doll, it only makes it more real.

    5. Depends on how much. I like just a very slight difference, it adds realism. But if it's WAY off, it bothers me. i've seen some where the nose is a couple mm off from lining up with the mouth, eyes are off...THAT bothers me.

    6. I like it a lot, actually. My own face is noticeably asymmetrical, hahaha. If I like a sculpt overall, and then notice the asymmetry it won't bother me. If it's very obvious from the get-go I'll either LOVE it or feel indifferent about it. Expressions and all that.

    7. I don't mind it if it's very minor, but if there is a noticeable difference between the depth of a cheekbone, or the height of the eyes (reminds me of Sloth from the Goonies when the eyes are really lopsided!), it just looks like bad/lazy sculpting on the part of the artist. But a slightly crooked nose or smirk can be very cute.

    8. If it's a little asymmetrical, it doesn't bother me. In fact, I like that it adds realism to the face because it's rare for a person to have a very symmetrical face.

    9. As much as I like perfect symmetry I prefer assymmetrical features in my dolls :) My DC Alberta's face is definitely not symmetrical and I adore her all the more for it!

    10. I'm not a fan with eyes, but things like lips being a little off make me smile.

    11. It doesn't typically bother me. I haven't seen many super asymmetrical dolls though. Things like tattoos, scars, or changes in expression that make a doll asymmetrical doesn't bother me much either. Asymmetrical faceups that aren't asymmetrical on purpose (like having a scar/tattoo on the doll's face) bother me though. xD;

    12. It really bothers me with my Minimee head. The eyes are uneven - I mean really, REALLY uneven, one's quite smaller than the other one. Which makes him nice to look at from the side but a full frontal view - ugh. He always looks like he's cross-eyed. So I sent him away to have that fixed. There's assymetrical - and then there's plain ugly ...

    13. As long as it's minor, I absolutely love it actually. Just adds that final touch of realism that I like so much.
Perfectly symmetrical dolls look a bit boring to me most of the time (not always). Like any other toy I could buy in the store.

    14. I have two dolls with some sort of asymmetry: Limwha Half Elf (entire face is off kilter but within acceptability imo) and Soom Amber (limited to her nose which is slightly crooked and not entirely symmetrical around the nostrils, something I only noticed fairly recently). I'm not really bothered by either given both the nature of these dolls and the age of these sculpts in particular. Not like anyone's face is entirely symmetrical in the first place, anyway. Only problem I've really had is with Half Elf; due to the aforementioned imperfection, I occasionally have trouble lining up her eyes correctly during the times where I've been forced to remove them for some reason or another. Doesn't change my love for her one bit, however. <3

    15. I prefer symmetrical faces. My dolls however have slightly asymmetrical faces with one side looking slightly masculine and the other side looking slightly feminine. I think it's pretty cool too.

    16. I noticed upon unboxing my RS Long that his smile is uneven, like someone nudged the sculptor and so he has this perpetual smirk, couple that with the constantly worried eyebrows he has. fits the character perfectly so I love it. Heehee love my poor neurotic vampire.

    17. Symmetry is important but discrepancies would have to be so bad that I noticed before purchasing to change my mind on a sculpt. One of my elves has ears that are shaped differently and it doesn't seem to be on purpose, while another doll has crooked lips, and several have slightly different or uneven eyes. As long as I can't tell unless I really look for it, then it's not a problem to me.

    18. I prefer my dolls' faces being symmetrical. I want perfection in my dolls. i know that humans don't have perfectly symmetrical faces but my dolls represent impossible beauty and perfection that can't be found in humans.

    19. Asymmetry is what makes them (dolls) more realistic and beautiful~~ Even human faces are not perfectly symmetrical, why should they have be xD?

    20. Asymmetry doesn't bother me at all as long as it's not something major like one eye noticeably bigger than the other or ears being at different heights. If it's small minor things than those are just added characteristics to the doll that makes it unique.
