It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. Does your height affect your doll's height?

Jan 31, 2011

    1. My mother is 4' 11"; she can handle my Dollshe Hound (70cm) perfectly well without problems. My friend Lucy is 5' 0"; I've never observed her to have any difficulty in handling her Bernard or any of her 60cm girls.

I'm 5' 5", and my size has never been a factor in my choice of dolls. I hadn't realised it, but I do tend more towards the 60cm dolls - I have 9 60cm dolls, 1 70cm doll, 2 minis and one tiny. I have another 60cm on the way and I'm planning to get another tiny, but I wouldn't mind getting another 70cm or two - and I'd like to get one of the 90cm AODs at some point, if I could figure out how they'd fit in with the rest of my crew! It would be amusing to have a doll who is nearly as tall as my youngest daughter. :)

    2. He he... People who see me without high heels for the first time are usually shocked at how small I am. Nevertheless, all my dolls except for two Yos are 70+. I have hauled two MAs on several occasions all by myself. I'd rather have my husband do the heavy lifting, but come on, a little physical exercise never killed nobody! Like JennyNemesis said, That doll may be tall, but it's still smaller than you. Establish dominance and show it who's boss. :)

    3. No, but the maximum weight I can carry certainly does ^^; I'm not extremely small at 5 foot 4, but I am very slight and do not have much strength. I can carry one SD of any height easily, but I cannot at all carry two at the same time, they are too heavy

    4. Funny how I'd never think about it. I'm almost 5'2'' and a Mecha Angel could most likely steal my wallet out my pant pocket without having to stand on tiptoes:D
As long as they're not taller than me and I'm able to carry them :)

    5. I never reallly thought of it for myself but I did think it was quite funny for some of my smaller friends XD
Though most of them keep to smaller dolls and those that do have bigger ones do not go around with them much :P

I did have a friend who thought having bigger dolls ( at the time she was talking of ~60cm) was going to be a problem for transporting and things like that.
I'm getting a 70 and a 80; though I may not transport them around like the others I do not think it would be harder then going around with a guitar or shopping bags full of heavy things ;3

I do not have the big guys yet, but I cannot wait to where the 80 will be compared to me :B
I think I'm 164cm.... or 5'5'' maybe ? Been ages since I measured myself XD

    6. HEIGHT BUDDIES!!!! 8D I'm 4'11" too.

Er, anyways, I don't think my height affects dolls. I just buy what I like, regardless of the height of the doll. I mean, when Frederick came in I was shocked but had I known I still would have purchased him.

    7. I've never given it a thought...but I'm over 5'10", so that might be why XD

    8. Hmm. I never thought about this. I am 5'2" and most of my dolls are 60 cm and up! So maybe I like the height because I don't have any! Really, I buy a doll because I love the sculpt and I like the bigger boys.

    9. Nope, not for me. I really like the taller dolls, and so far I haven't found my 70cm boy to much of a bother to handle, at least not because of his height, and I can see most of my dolls being around that height in the future.

    10. Wow, this is something I've never even thought of. I don't know my exact height...around 5'3''-5'4''? But most of my dolls are tinies simply because they're so adorable :)
So I suppose it's not really an issue for me.

    11. Nah. I'm 4'11", and for my first doll I of course chose a 70cm SSDF. XD To be honest, I thought he'd be even bigger than he turned out to be! His character is meant to be almost 6ft, so a big doll is necessary for him to be in scale with the other character-dolls I plan to get. (...that said, his height had absolutely nothing to do with me falling in love with his sculpt.) I wouldn't be opposed to smaller dolls, but I love the size of SDs. :)

    12. I'd say, it's not the height but the weight that counts. I've been carrying around my friend's doll (that was about 70 cm tall and 3-4kg) at an animecon, and in the end of the day and the next day I had muscle strain! :o
But I do prefer taller dolls, not because of MY height but because they're easier to put in a position and easier to draw them!:aheartbea

    13. Maybe for me it does. I'm 4'10" or 4'11" (depending on what doc's office I'm in) and I've owned dolls that were around 2ft tall. I currently only have my MSD-sized DM Kid, but I think the biggest I'd go is around the 60cm area; otherwise, I'd look like I was carrying around a body or something bizarre.

Definitely NOT going for a Lusion for this reason. They look like actual kids, and are WAY too large for me.

    14. Y'know, that was the thing I was most worried about with having an SD, which is why I've decided to stick with MSDs. I'm about 5'0" tall, and SDs are about 2'0" tall. So, that's almost half my height :\ I'd really rather have a doll that's not.. huge compared to me.

    15. I don't think it impacts my choices too much. I'm actually starting to sway away from the Yo-sized tiny dolls which I used to enjoy the size of most of all, and lean toward the larger dolls--this is the first time I've had 4 large dolls in my collection at once.

    16. My height doesn't affect me in that sense XD though all of my olls, character-wise, are shorter than me- I'm 5'3", and i don't have a single doll who, if he were a real person, would be much taller than 5'2" XD

    17. Fellow short person here! Was 4'11" for so long before I got one last inch. I think that's it for me. However, I'm opposite of you - I want only big dolls, and very few smaller ones. And by big I mean Iplehouse SIDs and EIDs, while smaller ones only include standard size.

Though now that you mention it, how am I gonna carry them? I want super hero size bodies too...0.o

    18. No, my height (and 5'6-7" isn't short) has no bearing on my choice of dolls. My choice of doll hight is largely due to my inexperience with dolls over 18". They're lovely, and I have my eye on a RS SID Lee, but dolls that large are just unknown. I'm glad that my best gf has a Dollfie Dream so I can at least get more interraction and play with a larger doll.

    19. My height doesn't affects my choice for doll's height. I bought a 70cm BJD when I was just getting into this hobby. However, tall dolls are quite heavy to carry... For that reason, I choose low dolls now.

    20. I do have a weakness for large size. :sweat
I like large furniture, large Teddy bears..So all my dolls are over 65cm.
But to be honest, it's quite a trouble when I took them out for photos or meet up.
