Does your height affect your doll's height?

Jan 31, 2011

    1. uh ... i don't understand ft since we're using cm in my city :sweat

      i'm 163 (people call me chibi :|)
and my doll (waiting to come home) is around 68cm with head and yes ... i'm a bit freak out about it *_*

first it didn't really bother me with height for me and my doll until i take out the measure tape :doh

but i'm pretty sure i'm gonna get over it ~

    2. I am 4'9 so at first I was afraid that a SD doll would be a bit much for me to handle. But now I have two so obviously that fear didn't last long.
Now that I have them, one at a time they're okay to handle but if I have to carry them both it's a bit much.

    3. I'm 5'7" so if I ever had a 26 cm tall, it'd be too small for me. I only have a 44 cm currently and she's just right but now i've got a taller doll on the way. :P

    4. Shoot, I'd get a 1/2 sized doll if I liked the sculpt. I too am "short," standing 5ft2, and proud of it. :)

    5. I'm 5'6" and the biggest SD I've had was 65cm, not a problem at all. I don't think I'd have a problem with a 70cm doll either but I'm not ready for them yet since I don't have space in my room. More than 70cm is a no-no for me though as I want dolls, not giant mannequins.

    6. oh, lol~ I found this to be rather amusing! I'm just as tall as the OP, however 70cm is my absolute favorite height in dolls xD so no, no my height doesn't really matter... I think.

    7. I'm about 5'5"... I dunno if I've noticed it effect my purchases.
I originally wanted to just have MSD, because they were lighter, smaller, I'd have more room for them...
But then I fell in love with a DZ 70cm boy, and he weighs a TON.

And I'm going to keep getting dolls around his height... I dunno, I've never handled your average 60cm boy before, I think they'd feel super light and weird to me... 70cm just feels natural to me now.
Now my MSD feels too small and awkward to carry.

    8. I'm 5'2" and it hasn't really effected my doll-size choices. I have one 70cm and plan to get one or two more, one 65cm and several more 58-65cm planned, and continuing all the way down to 9cm. :) I don't have any plans for anything bigger than a 72cm, partly due to my size but mostly due to character plans.

    9. Height does not matter to my decision of dolls. My first dolls were that of 42-44cms. Then my next two were 62cms. I am 5'. loll My next 3 dolls were 65cms. I have a floating head who I know will end up being 53-58cms. Then i decided on two 26cms ( which I feel is tiny!) I do love the MSDs because my Unoa can sit on my shoulder without me holding her, were as if I tried it with my Amberyl, she would most likely fall.

I never really thought about the height of a doll based upon whether I could carry it or not. XD

    10. I would have to say it has no bearing for me. I'm 5'10" which I believe is above average for a female and I enjoy dolls of all heights. In fact, I was originally leerly of SD sized dolls because I thought they might be too cumbersome, but it didn't pan out that way at all and now I find I quite like SD and will not hesitate to go bigger.. or smaller.. my latest purchase: 2 realpukis. I'm looking forward to seeing these tiny little suckers ;-) and I'm also eyeballing an Iplehouse E.I.D.

    11. HEh, I'm 5'4", but my height doesn't mean anything when it comes to my dolls.
I make my rp Character so if one is really tall, I'll take a 70cm one (Aaah I can't wait to find a 55 tan elfgirl and have the money for it so I can buy her boyfriend who's 70cm)

I also have a Pukipuki XD

So in my case, size and my height aren't related at all

    12. I was impressed by the size of bjds when I learned of them, and it was part of the appeal for me. I think smaller ones like yo sd size are super cute, but I'm still attracted to the bigger ones since they are more rare in dolls in general. I'm 5'8" or so, so that's pretty average for a girl. If I saw a 1/2 scale doll I liked, I would probably get it unless it was too much money to me. I just might not take it to cons or other crowded places since it would be more cumbersome

    13. Hm, I never thought about it, haha. I just don't like the size and age of dolls represented by MSDs and Yo-SDs. I think my OCs are older, so that's why I chose SDs. But anyway, I did a calculation and found that my dolls are around a third of my height. I'm 5"5 (168cm) and my tallest doll right now is 63cm. But I would think it's harder to handle taller dolls like 70cm if you're shorter?

    14. So my question is, does your height affect the height of the dolls you buy?
      No, it doesn't.

Have you ever seen a doll you really liked, but didn't buy them because you felt they were too tall compared to you?
No, I haven't and I think it won't affect me.
Dolls height are based on my characters, are they mature ladies or cute kids, etc.
Not because of my height. =D

So, if I find a tall doll and he/she fits my characters, there goes my saving.
      LOLZ

    15. I'm 6' tall, so I really don't have a hard time with any doll heights. My wife (who's only 5'4") and I started with 70cm dolls. I think they're a great size, and I have no problem carrying one around in the crook of my arm. But I love smaller dolls just as much. My little 1/6 girl is such fun, and was a huge change since the smallest I'd had before her was a 65cm. XD She's like palm-sized! So obviously I'm open to the whole spectrum. I even plan to get a 17cm anthro at some point.

Then again, I do have a love for tiny things.

My wife says: "I'm tiny and I love 'em as big as I can get!"
Really it's a matter of her preferring the more mature sculpts/bodies of the 65-70cm range.

    16. So my question is, does your height affect the height of the dolls you buy? Have you ever seen a doll you really liked, but didn't buy them because you felt they were too tall compared to you? I've seen some discussion about this topic before, but never a specific thread.

My height doesn't play a part in my dolly decision making. I'm average height for a woman but I'd get a large doll if I had the space, funds, and inclination. That said, I doubt I'd lug a large doll to a meet. I spent enough time wrestling with the weight and size of my human children. I'll stick to carrying around the tinies. :)

    17. I'm 173 cm,,,but the height of the doll doesn't affect me at all...but I'm not comfortable with doll size around 65-70 cm.... make me scare...xD

    18. I'm rather short, but my height doesn't affect my preferred doll size... however, the size of my hands does. I have unusually small hands for an adult, so I find large dolls difficult to hold and carry. Medium to small dolls are easier for me to handle and pose.

    19. I'm kind of average height - 167cm BUT my husband is over 6'4", solid and broad shouldered. Hence, this seems to affect my preference in male dolls. I'm currently selling my Angell-Studio Rone as, although tall, his slim yet still muscular frame bothers me. I prefer tall men with more to cuddle :kitty1
Aesthetically he's absolutely gorgeous, and love the tall 70+ boys as they often tend to reflect the proportions of taller guys well and even if I do love the elongated proportions of the TyRone / Senior Male Charm boy sculpt I do prefer my resin men to have good solid resin bulk, much like Soom's Idealians, Mega Gems & Iplehouse's EIDs.

    20. Up until now I did not stop to think about that issue, I have a 70 cm doll and its a little difficult to handle him but I'm not going to carry him everywhere...
