1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Doll carriers? What do you use?

Sep 26, 2004

    1. Pretty sure this will be relocated on the forum but here are some links to carrierbags of the bigger/more well known dollcompanies.

      eLUTS:
      [1][2]

      Volks
      [whole page]

      IpleHouse
      [1][2]

      Dollmore
      [whole page]

And just some extra info, TaoBao is known for their recasting of limited dolls from other companies, ripoffs of low quality.
This being said I can not be sure how their other products are.

    2. I always use Souldoll's bags as an example (just for the style of them) but they're sold out ;^;

    3. I personally like the dollmore bags :)

    4. Have you considered looking into an old-school baby carriage (pram)? It may not be feasible, depending on your transportation options, but if you could manage it, a perambulator would be an AWESOME way to transport multiple dolls to a meet and/or around a convention, and very in-keeping with the Lolita image (if you got a suitably antique one).

    5. @ Sabriell: Thanks! I personally really like the violin cases by Volks. I was thinking of having something like that ^^ As for the problem of ripoffs, I believe that Taobao site I linked is the official Taobao shop front for the company Heisejinyao to service their Chinese customers, so quality shouldn't be a problem. Thanks for the warning though ^^

      @ gigias: I couldn't find the bags, but I fell in love with their clothes! One more place to spend $$ on ;_;

@ BarraArisa: I like that they have pink carriers!

@ Kiyakotari: I think baby carriages are a great idea! But probably not very feasible for me because I don't drive unfortunately.

    6. I know a lot of people use yoga mat bags, and some of those look very nice to me ^^
Then again, there's always the option of going with a violin case ;) Haha

    7. My best friend actually found a violin case in a second hand store that could fit her msd doll perfectly.

Maybe something like an instrument case could also fit in with a lolita outfit?

    8. CoolCat has some great bags, but the shipping is real pricey. In some cases it is almost cost prohibitive. But for the money... they hold up nicely. We have 4 of them and all have been well used, but do not show it.

    9. I had some custom made ones as well as some unique ones via Rescue/Helping Hand type sites and been very happy with what I got. I also plan to make my own bags for my bigger kids as the manufactured ones tend to be stiff and get dirty fast.

    10. i personally like dollmore the best but souldolls really nice as well

    11. If you're a do-it-yourselfer you can buy a used violin case (if it's for a large doll, get a full 4/4 case) and modify it yourself. There's a tutorial in the Workshop area and you can make it to match your lolita style. :)

ETA: Angelregion used to make hard doll cases. I had one and it fit my old Yukinojo boy. If they still have them, they came in black and white, and are -very- elegant.

    12. I don't use my doll-company carrier anymore since I started acquiring extra dolls, but what I do have are one of those small rolling suitcases and a laptop bag. For luggage, the suitcase is pretty nice-looking - it's light black with a darker swirly pattern on it - and I've seen quite a few at Wal-Mart that are meant for kids and teenage girls that have cutesey designs. (Had I not already gotten mine, I seriously would have gone for the rolling penguin.)

The laptop bag is nice for when I don't want to drag the suitcase around, but the potential disadvantage is that it doesn't have hard sides, so it's not as protective. If that's not a concern for you, though, I'd be willing to bet you could get something along those lines and spruce it up yourself - add some patches or lace, things like that. (Mind you, my dolls are MSD, and two just barely fit in it - but I'm sure there's something that would work for you!)

    13. kurodatenshi, the carry bag you linked to looks quite like my own choice of carry bag - I use a yoga-mat bag :) I found one quite cheaply one eBay and it's lightly padded so there is some protection for your doll without using pillows or blankets too.

I like the violin cases, which may also work better for you stylistically.

    14. if it counts, i'm making a coffin carrier for my boy soon, before the cherry blossom festival. it's based off a suitcase in the way that the top of it has a handle that's long enough for me to reach, and swivel wheels on the bottom. i work with wood often and so does my father, so we are going to make this a father-son bonding project or something over spring. i got the idea from a friend of mine (hominivorax) who had a coffin carrier as well, and i was very envious. :--D

    15. I don't know what sized dolls you have but I am planning on purchasing a travel hatbox/round train case/shoecase to pack my Yo-SD and tiny around in. There are tie's inside them and enough room for pillows as well as pouches for things.

    16. You are never going to have anything that looks DAINTY hauling around a 60-70cm doll. However you can have something that looks appropriate, if you were to get something called a "Carpet Bag" and add pillows and padding. Lolita is fashioned after Victorian clothing after all, and you see the characters in many anime sagas that are dressed in Lolitat hauling their possessions around in Carpet Bags.

    17. For my doll, in the very few times she goes out, she goes in a large purse or tote. Plus, I have a thing for design purses and large ones so she fits and rides in style!!!!!

    18. I couldn't seem to find a thread about this, and I am not sure I am placing this thread right either, but here goes...

My roommate woke up this morning and introduced me to a concept neither of us had ever thought of before. Customisation of ones doll bags... That is, the long ones the companies produce.

Why this concept seem completely alien to me, I have no idea. I have never done it, and I don't think I have ever seen it done, despite the fact that many I know who have dolls are inclined to put both bows, badges and jewellery, or even draw on their bags and phone cases or ipod/mp3 player socks and what not.

So my questions are, do any of you customise your dolly bags? If not, have you considered it? Or did the idea just never occur to you, and why do you think that is? Are doll bags sacred? Are you afraid the needles from the badges might scratch the doll? Or is it just me and my roommate, and in reality this is something everyone does and have done for a long time? ;)

    19. I think the main reason I customize my doll's bags is just because meet-ups can be a mess when we talk about those bags.

I mean, most of the bags are black, if you left them together while you are making some photos or talking with some people... to find YOUR bag when you need it can be a pain xD I usually hang a plushie in the zipper, so it makes easy to find it in the middle of the bags ocean.

Apart of it, I can simply get fun customizing my bags painting something on them, with some special paint that will not fade with time (as done with Converse shoes). Your nick-name, your dolls' faces, some random drawing... anything is nice : D
