Doll carriers? What do you use?

Sep 26, 2004

    1. Both my DoC boys came with carriers from the company, so that works out nicely for my Kirill and the other one will be used for my incoming DiM Alpon. For my Ivan on the other hand, about a year ago I was absolutely hellbent on finding him a hard-shelled violin case ( I STILL kick myself over missing out on the chance to get him one from the Volks LA store, but I hadn't known if it would be big enough for him as I wasn't allowed to bring him inside to check, so I skipped out on it), so I finally found one on craigslist. I've torn out the insides, glued in new lining, a pillow and straps-it's all just about finished and I haven't used it once. To be honest I hardly trust my own craftsmanship and the whole reason I wanted a hard-shelled case was to keep him as protected as possible. I may at some point in time give it a go. Or I may just hope he's the same size as a Volks MSD and make another trip to LA someday.

My 60cms don't have a carrying case as of yet however. This makes all of us sad. :(

    2. Violin case. It's sturdy and it looks pretty :XD:

I never really liked the average black carrying bag I found on most companies' websites, so I settled on a violin case a while ago. Got one for super cheap from ebay, an old one (don't like the modern ones either .. I'm picky lol) and replaced the insides and put some extra pillows and ribbons in.

I'm currently still working on a few smaller things on the outside but besides that, it's perfect.

    3. Up until now, I transported my boys in their boxes, and then carried them around at meetups and such. But today I went out in search of a yoga mat bag, but instead found a nice Nike bag intended for baseball bats and such. It's a little longer an bigger than my SD boys, but with added padding, it's perfect, and roomy enough to store lots of clothes and wigs and such. It could probably fit 4 SD+ size dolls in total, which will be nice for the future if I add to my group. :)

    4. I just got a violin case for my Little Fair boy!
I also bought a cute little sturdy cardboard wine bottle carrier that I'm hoping would hold a LittleFee, it's about four inches too short to fit my LF!
If anyone is interested, the wine bottle holders have a four inch diameter and is just quarter of an inch shy of being a foot tall. The one I bought has strings attached to the side that holds the lid on, and the whole things is pretty sturdy!

If I had a doll 8 inches or smaller I'd buy a shoe to carry them in :3

    5. I have no carriage bag yet, unfortunately. Though we've bought a big, long bang which will do it after some modifications :)
Yet I think that a bigger handbag would do it as well. A big enough for him to sit in, and which has a zipper, so bye-bye sunlight

    6. I have a bag that is a coffin XDDD but at the moment it's suitcase like things that are pillowed up like mad for protection

    7. I store mine in their box that they arrived in most of the time. It just so happens that my dad had a sports bag that was the right size to slide the whole thing in. And it has extra pockets and zips and stuff to keep accessories and materials in.

They're both out at the moment, though. Trying to get their faceups done for my 1st anniversary of getting them.

    8. Currently I just bring my doll around in a backpack having them look behind me warning me for any robbers. :D Volks recently released a new doll bag much cheaper than the violin cases, so I'm thinking about picking that up in the future.

    9. I carry mine in a big bag I bought on DollMore a long time ago from ReBirth (I just checked the site.. it looks like they don't sell it anymore?), but for individual doll moves/outings I have 2 violin cases. (One meant for MSD sized and one for SD size).

    10. this may not be in the right place, or even on topic, but when you take an sd sized doll out, do you use a carrier, bag, or tote them in your arms? what do you consider a good method, and/or size doll to be 'too big' to carry places?

if this is in the wrong spot or off topic, mods please move or delete as you see fit.

    11. eLuts, Iplehouse, Volks, Dollmore, and other small companies sell doll carriers. A lot of people carry dolls in tote bags and purses, depending on how big their dolls are.

    12. My SD goes in his proper leather SD carrybag, though before I had that he got carted around in this HORRENDOUS rainbow shoulderbag thing. XD

The pukis....depends. I have a sunglasses case with handles which is PERFECT for them, and Undertaker has his own little coffin-carrier. But my lil puki Jiraiya has no carrycase, he gets deposited down my cleavage with his head peeking out. XD

    13. My SDs go in a BJD company SD carry bag. My MSD or smaller get carried in my big purse with the rest of my stuff. If I need to bring alot with me they may get wrapped in a towel on top of wearing their face mask. I'd like to get a better case for my SD, a more stylish one at that. -sigh-

    14. Hmm...I just use a tote when I want to bring Josslyn. She sits nexts to my netbook on top of my stuff. I don't know if it will hold Adia; she may ride with her head out or in my arms.

    15. i don't have my dolls just yet but i would love to have a violin case for them! question would be would 1 violin case fit two msds Owo

    16. Slightly off-topic but....when y'all say you carry your dolls in "violin cases" do you mean LITERAL violin cases or is it just a name? O_o -thinking about homeless violins-

    17. A yoga bag xD

I would love to use a violin case though. But the one my friend gave to me has the violin-holder (or mold like thingy) to hold the violin in place exactly to its shape. I wasn't able to remove that :(

    18. I have made little foam insulated bags for all my dolls. They have handles and make carrying them very easy.

    19. I carry my dolls in a small suitcase (this Antler carry-on) that is the perfect size for a few dolls of 60cm and smaller sizes to share if they are sitting. I don't have many dolls, so it works out well for me. I typically roll my dolls in fabric (as a protective cushion) and hold it in place with a ribbon tied around their shoulders and then another one around their calves. Then I sit them in the case. I like that it isn't a long case, because I would totally thwack some poor passer-by with a long bag! XD I also like that I can use it for something completely non-doll-related if necessary.
