1. It has come to the attention of forum staff that Dollshe Craft has ceased communications with dealers and customers, has failed to provide promised refunds for the excessive waits, and now has wait times surpassing 5 years in some cases. Forum staff are also concerned as there are claims being put forth that Dollshe plans to close down their doll making company. Due to the instability of the company, the lack of communication, the lack of promised refunds, and the wait times now surpassing 5 years, we strongly urge members to research the current state of this company very carefully and thoroughly before deciding to place an order. For more information please see the Dollshe waiting room. Do not assume this cannot happen to you or that your order will be different.

Doll carriers? What do you use?

Sep 26, 2004

    1. Try Iplehouse. Their EID Bag should be big enough for you 70cm guy Here's the link for it.
Dollmore Model size will also fit a 70cm doll Here's the link.

Just pays to check doll sites that have a 70cm or bigger in their size range, they often have carry bags as well.
      Good luck!

    2. Coolcat had some 70cm bags last I recall. Link: http://us.sk-coolcat.com/front/bin/ptlist.phtml?Category=375035

Another option I just remembered, some people in the sewing threads had some great tutorials:

Option A- Hit up your favorite thrift store for a cheap suitcase an try something like this:

      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?210020-My-Doll-Case&highlight=carrier

Option B- Duck tape. It holds the world together:

      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/s...Sew-quot-Duct-Tape-Doll-Bag&highlight=carrier

Option C- Yoga bag convert? (check size)

      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?309014-Free-SD-bag-pattern!!-%28link%29&highlight=carrier

Option D- Homemade custom sized bag (downside, you need the doll):

      http://www.denofangels.com/forums/showthread.php?354823-Doll-Carrier-Tutorial!-%28Patternless-All-sizes!%29&highlight=carrier

Search for "Carrier" "Suitcase" "Doll case" etc. in the sewing forum and you'll find tons.

    3. i will definitely look at the tutorials, the only thing with that is I am limited on time because the end of the semester is coming and I am knee deep in homeworks. Boooo homework.

I am thinking pretty strongly about the yoga bag thing, that seems to be my best option for her size anyhow.

I look forward to all other options (and can hope that Volks puts up a soft doll bag soon) A friend linked me to the Japanese doll bag that just came out, but since I was heading home I didnt want to buy it now =\

    4. Nice link on the bag, I am still new to all the different vendors and seeing who sells what. I know there are more vendors than just Volks, I just know what I have been exposed too. :)

Their bag looks like something I would purchase, just the shipping time is what gets to me. I should have started shopping for this a long time ago so I guess I am mostly looking for a stopgap fix in the meantime.

    5. If i'm just taking my doll to say my parent's house and not moving her all together i just carry her on my lap in the car. however if you don't plan to have the doll in your hands at all times then i'd suggest a nice safe doll sized bag/suitcase like the others. :)

    6. Congrats on your new doll!

I have the Volks bag and love it! My friend used it on our trip to Japan and it worked great on public transportation as you can just sling it over your shoulder and go. I used the two-doll carrier Dollmore used to sell but it was very bulky especially on public transportation. Since I got the Volks bag its a lot easier to tote my dolls around. Its EMS shipping from Japan so it would be here within a week or so. There are other doll carriers made by other companies but I liked this one because the inside pockets can accommodate large items as well such as wig boxes.

How are you getting home-plane? car? train?

If you are traveling by car you could just wrap her in a towel. If you are travelling by plane (or similar transportation) wrap her in a towel and use a yoga bag. Most yoga bags do not have the best padding but it'll do in a pinch. You could always have whatever carrier you like sent to your parents house so transportation won't be an issue on the way back to school.

    7. I remember there already is a thread about this topic. Always check whether your topic is already being discussed.

I use my large backpack to transport my dolls (3 SD's + 1 tiny). I use a fleece haori (very practical when LARPing in cold season), a blanket and I also chuck in some rabbit furs for padding.

    8. @IZAYOI
      Sorry, could i just confirm that your 70cm doll fits perfectly into this bag?? With the measurements reading 70x19x21, i thought the bag might be too squishy height wise for my boy, but i love the design of the volks bag!! ;O;

    9. I used a old bag that my comforter came in. it was slightly larger all around esp at head and feet so that I could also transport my DDdy's clothes even after wrapping her in wig-protective plastic bag and pale yellow thick towel...

Yes, I realise it would have been better to put her in a mid/large "without-a-violin" violin case with the insides thinned down and reupholstered or even better, a proper doll storage case/bag. But I went into adopting my daughter Atiyaah eyes wide blind, and I didn't budget properly, so cut me some slack okay?

    10. I use the Luts bag I bought with my Shiwoo, it can hold 2 delfs and an SD10 :D

    11. I use a suitcase, but then I've got a lot of dollies to haul around. XD

Honestly, any bag you have will work, as long as you've got padding for it. A backpack could be ideal, even, with a fluffy blanket and a pillow or two. :3

    12. i have a fairly large backpack that's really clean and padded inside ~ it only fits one doll though and she'll have to be in a sitting position ~

    13. I think my search-fu was failing me at the time I looked. ;_; Sorry about that!

I am driving with my girl from the Dallas Area down to Houston. I am probably just going to wrap her up in something soft and then lay her gently in a bag.

Good to hear some positive feedback on the Volks case as well. I think when I get back and settled into school that is the direction I am going to take.

    14. My Caitlin (CP Delf) doesn't have one, I usually strap her in the front seat of my car, or have the passenger hold her (if there is one!) But I'm thinking of taking her on a trip to Adelaide with me in the new year, which is a full day drive away. Might think about making her a proper carry bag so she doesn't get hurt wandering around while I'm there.

    15. That seriously sounds amazing!!!

    16. I bought a long carrier for my doll and it was useless and cumbersome (avoid those) ...

So now I pack her in a mini suitcase with extra cushioning.

    17. over time, i find that my needs for carriers change. Joby, my EID kamau goes into his own Iplehouse carrier. Usually, i can put a pillow inside with him, and put one of my smaller dolls in with him, and down by his feet, on another pillow, my BB Dollzone Jing, cuz he's Yo-sized. :) But i do have a very nifty rolly suitcase with four roller wheels, that is ideal. I have found that i can puzzle piece most of my dolls into that bag, but i only do it if i have face-covers, and wrap for the hands.

    18. When I have enough extra money (since I only own 1 doll so far), I'm going to get my girl a Coolcat brand coffin carrier ^_^ They are just too cool!

EDIT: I didn't realize that for coolcat's large coffin carrier they want to charge $50 shipping on top of the $59 pricetag >_> I just ordered a full size violin case a few days ago that I plan to convert for my girl; I'm hoping it turns out okay! XD

    19. I use old sheets to wrap it inside and then put it in my bag, I don't have any money to buy a specific bag XD

    20. I just use a tote bag. A small one when it's only Saif. A nice big one when I carry Saif, Muniya, and a wooden bench for them to sit on (this was for a convention).

I want to get a coffin case sometime or make one myself. Which might be kind of silly since my dolls aren't gothic in the least and neither am I, but I still think they're cool!

...Though I've come close to talking myself into padding an ammunition case (or something military... I'm a terrible judge of my dolls' sizes and I always forget to measure their lengths relative to my arm/leg) from the Army Surplus and carrying my dolls in that. It's not girly if it has a "checked for explosives" stickers on the side right???
